  1. Is Christie playing a deep lying midfield role like gilmour or McGregor does for us?
  2. I still think he left it too late. We were pretty much qualified when he declared. Not saying I wouldnt take him but it's not the best situation for Clarke considering theres players who have earned us our tournament place.
  3. All of our starters were on the winning side tonight.
  4. Let's pray mctominay doesn't get injured for these euros. Guys on fire these days. Hes probably our best chance at getting goals.
  5. If theres a few injuries then I think he should be considered. Guys probably better than most of the other back up options.
  6. Tom Cairney scores for Fulham. I wonder if Clarke would consider taking him to the euros if there was a major injury crisis to guys like gilmour and McLean. Who would be next in line if that was the case? Cairneys 32 but I doubt he would pass up the chance of going to the euros.
  7. Netherlands on paper are a long way better than Hungary. Probably a good bit ahead of Switzerland as well. Looking at their form they have only really lost to other elite nations over past 3 years. Saying that they clearly are not the force they used to be, especially when it comes to star players. I would say they are a tougher test than Hungary and Switzerland.
  8. Yeh that's a fair point. The guys who got us there should be rewarded with a place in the squad. Barnes has timed things all wrong imo. If only Barnes had declared after 3 or 4 games into the campaign then there wouldn't be too much of an issue. It was pretty clear that we would qualify after the first 3/4 games. If Barnes had declared around that time and then turned up to the squads for the remaining games there would probably be no problem. Saying that hes a big improvement on what we have and we need all the help we can get, especially when it comes to scoring goals. If it's a 26 man squad then I would take him, especially if theres injuries.
  9. Livramento will want to play for England. There was no point in Clarke chasing him when he was 18/19 unless livramento made it clear he was interested. Hes also eligible for Portugal which is a far better option than us. We are probably his third choice.
  10. He would improve the squad tbf. Hes a cut above any winger/forward we have imo. Same with Anthony Gordon. Not ideal scenario but a country like us needs all the help it can get if we want to get out the groups.
  11. Sounds like a good test. Hopefully get some friendlies against easier teams lined up as well. Build some confidence going into the tournament.
  12. A year and a half isn't long in international football. If we had those results a year and half ago we would still be super confident and on a high even if our recent form was average. In fact arguably our recent form has been average(albeit against some decent sides)but we are still full of confidence on the back of our form over the last three years.
  13. Don't think anyones fretting, just acknowledging that we have some decent teams in our group. In normal circumstances Hungary would be a team we would want to play but looking at recent form(last 3 years) it could be tougher match than normal. Swiss are strong on paper and have been a good team over the 10 years(I think). Recent forms a bit poor but they will be a tough match for us as well. Overall theres a decent chance we can get through the groups. I would probably give us a 1/3 chance but thats me being slightly pessimistic due to our previous record in tournaments.
  14. Is there many better options? Hes only 25, if starts to score a few in the epl and perform reasonable well there or the English championship next season then he will deserve a chance. He has got some decent attributes. Writing him off completely is unfair imo.
  15. Browns goal. Maybe a bit of potential there. He's got speed and can finish. He starts scoring more regularly then he could be a useful player eventually.
  16. Yeh like us they have had blips but overall the last three years have been unbelievable really. I doubt we have ever had a run of results like that in our entire history. Saying that I think we have a good chance v them. It's probably the most winnable of the three games although we should be looking for a win v the swiss as well. I think it's a deceptively tough group we have. We have teams that are well organised and are currently managed well( Germany aside). Just have to hope we play well and get a bit of luck.
  17. Not sure they have slipped up that much. Overall their results have been amazing. I know we have done well in the last few years but their results are another level to us. Theres heaps of good results v top nations in there and loads of wins v teams Iike Poland, Serbia, turkey. It's actually quite amazing when looking at how average their squad is. Dunno how they are doing it but their manager must be genius.
  18. Dunno I think Germany will be strong and probably surprise a few ppl. A host nation of the calibre of Germany is alway dangerous and us underestimating would be naive considering how brilliant their record is in tournaments. I think it's unlikely we will get a result against them imo. They will be desperate to get a good result in their first game to ease the pressure on themselves.
  19. Yeh but overall their results have been good. Always gunna be a few blips. Just have to play well and hope they play poorly.
  20. They are far better than Norway going by their results in the past 2 years. Looking through their squad and surprised at how average it is. I would say it's weaker than ours but you cant argue with the results they have had. Imagine how confident we would be if we had beaten England twice(one of which was 4 nil!) and Germany once. They beat Serbia twice and Poland as well. I think they are a very dangerous team who could surprise a few ppl. I just as wary of team who can get those kind of results with such a poor/average squad than a team with a much stronger squad on paper.
  21. His work rate is huge. I think he is near the top of the epl in terms of distance covered in a match. Probably one of our main strengths right now is having guys like Robertson, Christie and mctominay who are probably some of the best players in the epl in terms stamina and hard work.
  22. Yeh chances are slim that he plays every game. We could really do with him as well, hes massive attacking threat when on form.
  23. You think? Hungary are probably the second best pot 2 team. Looking at their results over the last 2 years they have beaten England twice. They have a win and a draw over Germany. They have 2 wins v Serbia and a win v Poland. Thats some amazing results considering how ordinary their squad is. Switzerland are probably the second best pot 4 team. They have a strong squad and have done relatively well in recent years although somebody earlier in the thread said they have had poor results recently. Germany might currently be one of weaker pot 1 teams but they are still the home nation and they often pull themselves together for major tournaments. They still have a squad full of top players as well. It's not the worst group but theres a couple of groups I would definitely swap with if given the chance.
  24. Going by Hungary's results I would say they are alot better than Norway.
