So it’s the old “I’m not a racist but I don’t want to upset racists” argument. -

It surprising to see the people on here who have problems with bringing in refugees. What next, charity should begin at home? -

In 18 years we got from 52% in the 1979 referendum, to 75% in 1997. It’s more than possible and it’s actually easier to test that support out now than it was in the 80s and 90s. -

For UDI to be successful it has to have overwhelming universal international recognition, for Scotland that means the EU - individual members as well as it’s institutions, the USA and the other Anglohone members of the Commonwealth. There may well be a lot of sympathy for Scotland, but would any of them consider it to be in their geopolitical interests to intervene in a UK constitutional crisis, or would they simply sit on the sidelines and see how it sorted itself out. All these magical thinking solutions seem to fall short somewhere and usually somewhere in the first stage. To route to independence is actually very simple, it’s three steps; have a referendum; win the referendum; deliver independence. It’s very difficult to actually achieve that though. Don’t get me wrong, I‘m confident that if there was a vote tomorrow, we would win it, but the reality is that the only way we will ever get one is if it’s empirically obvious that support is at the level it was for the devolution referendum in 1997, and that was 75%. -

Some cracking football footage at York Road here in the opening titles. They flooded the pitch to get the right sort of gritty, blood and snotters effect and ruined the pitch for the rest of the season. The covered enclosure on the railway side has been replaced with a 550 seat grandstand and covered standing added along the end at the bottom. The big covered terrace at Bell St - the Bell End - is still there and is largely unchanged. The rest of the film is pretty pish though.. -

Why are you so scared to actually say the words “Unilateral Declaration of Independence? is it because more cases of UDI don’t succeed and in the cases where they have been successful they’ve been as a result of war. UDI occurred in Palestine in 1988, how’s that going 35 years on. Wings gives no answers to this, because there are no easy answers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unilateral_declaration_of_independence#:~:text=A unilateral declaration of independence, from which it is seceding. -

Her finest moment was clearly starring alongside Ian McShane as a washed up alcoholic football star and Paul Nicholas as pop star cum football chairman in Yesterdays Hero, no prizes for guessing who they were based on. Sequences of this were filmed at York Road and the old Ivy Leaf Club in Maidenhead. -

You’re 100% right. But for some people building the level of support necessary is either too difficult or isn't quick enough. -

So that’s basically : 1. dissolve the Scottish Parliament. 2. fight the election with every party having the same manifesto. And that’s it, there’s nothing, nothing about what happens next. What happens when the UKG says “now is not the time”. Which they’ve done every time there’s been a elected mandate since 2014, what’s different this time around? -

Well Joanna Cherry seems to be fully on board with the plan and is happy the party has “accepted her plan” - it’s not just “her” plan obviously and “Comfy Slippers” Pete’s amendment was in his words “absolutely gubbed”. Maybe Wings will need to try and rewrite the narrative. -

To be fair to Kumnio, he is only going on the basis of the last 80 years of history with regards to the Middle East and it’s impact on the West. -

I’ve just been watching Humza Yousaf’s eve of conference interviews and how that guy is even standing after this last week after everything going on with his family, he looks absolutely shattered. And yet, he’s standing up in front of the press and answering questions, meeting with the Jewish community, the Palestinian community, being the *sole* political leader who is stressing the humanitarian case and opposition towards collective responsibility. This guy is made of stronger stuff that I thought. -

Someone who lived in the same street as me got jailed a few years back for supporting ISIS. AFAIK, he was speaking at a meeting where he was encouraging people to go to Syria and join up, so it would pretty much be a slam dunk offence. I saw something earlier in the week which I thought was important. Its not just the words but the context which is very important,. It was a picture of Free Palestine painted on a railway bridge with a tube train going over it, which puts it in London. If that had been in say, Tower Hamlets, then you probably wouldn’t think twice about it. However, it wasn’t it was in Golders Green, which is obviously a massive Jewish area and so it would be safe to assume that the intent had probably a more threatening intent.
