  1. Surely can only benefit Yes? I understand why the OP's feeling paranoid... seems all too straightforward to be true...
  2. I've alerted the medical health authorities in Boston, so hopefully he's already receiving treatment. Maybe the worst case I've ever seen...
  3. UKIP in Glasgow on Friday and the Orange Order in Edinburgh on Saturday in support of No... Can somebody please explain what's going on? Is somebody, somewhere trying to lose on purpose?
  4. To Auld Reekie (couldn't quote) -- That's what the whole 'purdah' thing is there for, though... to stop people shittin on democracy. This should turn out to be a decisive error if handled correctly by Yes...
  5. Twenty-minute spell in the second half gives cause for optimism, but there was lot wrong apart from that... One or two players (including, sadly, Darren Fletcher) really don't look up to it (although they won't be playing Germany every match). Think we know what our best front four is, though (as said above): Anya-Naismith-Snodgrass behind S. Fletcher. Back four also probably picks itself, although less encouragingly. Choose a goalie and somebody to play alongside Brown and hope they all stay fit...
  6. The areas I've been doing might not be the most representative (and there are big holes due to relocation), but it's a small but significant majority for No across the board. Also been on the phones following up postal ballots... and the many stories (one immediately above) about older people being scared into voting No are all too real. I've thought all along, and only something out of the blue between now and the 18th will change my mind, that it will come down to relative turnout on the day... the work we do in the last couple of days and on the day itself might well be decisive.
  7. That's not quite right... Both Marx and Lenin supported anti-colonial nationalist movements, seeing them as a necessary part of the struggle. They opposed bourgeois nationalism, which worked against proletarian solidarity in the developed countries. We live in different times and 'nationalism' is back on the agenda as a _progressive_ force against the trans-national elites who control the world economy... and who don't much care about any place. 'No true Marxist' would assume that what was valid in the mid-19th century or at the beginning of the 20th would remain so in times and circumstances they couldn't foresee.... Vote Yes, whether you're a 'nationalist' or not...
  8. I'll be astounded (in a good way) if it's anywhere near that... There's definitely a move to Yes, but the problem is there's also a bedrock of people who will never come round. A _clear_ win for us will mean the No vote has stayed home in large numbers... might happen, but I wouldn't count on it. Well, if you've completely switched off from the referendum, how would you notice a swing in any direction? Tune in, switch on... vote Grebner (whoever the fk he is).
  9. Between Geldof's A-Level History idea of 'nationalism' and his curious, media-inspired notion that the debate has been bad tempered... Irrelevant doesn't quite cover it... You still here, 'Phil'?
  10. We'll never hit 60%... 55% would be the equivalent of a landslide... I'll take 50.1% right now...
  11. Let's hope we see more of him in the last weeks of the campaign...
  12. You need to stop this, Byron... My love for Strachan is beginning to get embarrassing...
  13. Loving the optimism of some of these stories, but canvassing (Edinburgh) tells me we still have a huge amount of work to do. There are significant numbers of people who will NEVER vote Yes; we need to get all those who are on the turn out on the day... and hypnotise the Nos into not bothering...
  14. Forget Sunday, forget anthems... We are at this moment in the process of rising 'to be a nation again', so if you haven't yet got involved, there's still time to do so and to help make sure it happens. Scotland forever...
