  1. What a dream of a pass from Fletcher to Anya.
  2. A loss tonight will be a real setback as it theoretically puts Poland out of reach of us already.
  3. Shocking error. Really sloppy and could be very costly in the bigger picture. Apart from that we had started pretty well.
  4. Cracking finish but dear oh dear Hutton.
  5. Maloney needs to improve his quality of corners.
  6. I don't think anyone here is arguing Robertson is the better player over Whittaker but some players can offer more physically and experience-wise and think that is why Whittaker has got the nod.
  7. Gordon on Sky just now saying Whittaker in for his height and strength as Poles are more physical and will threaten at set pieces.
  8. That may be another ploy of Gordon's. Hold firm and make sure we are still in the match after an hour and when the Poles begin to tire let loose the pacy Robertson to greater effect or perhaps replace Anya who was carrying a niggle.
  9. I would just like to point out that Whittaker was in the starting line-up in one of our best results in recent years when we won 1-0 in Croatia.
  10. Gee whizz wait and see what happens before bursting a blood vessel eh?
  11. On Saturday the Robertson/Anya partnership wasn't fluent though. They both seemed to be in the same area of the pitch too many times and didn't help attacks at times. Perhaps Gordon feels Whittaker will sit deep and Anya can be left to do his own thing.
  12. I just think Gordon is guarding against us getting exposed down that flank. Robertson is attack-minded and I feel Gordon would feel more at ease with a more defence-minded left-back hence the selection of Whittaker who has more experience as well. We mustn't rule out the other possibility as well thar Robertson may have a niggling injury.
  13. Also Robertson is a far more attacking left-back than Whittaker who plays a more sitting role so perhaps more suited to this match.
  14. As someone pointed out on here the Robertson/Anya partnership wasn't too fluid as they both seemed to cancel each other out. Also late on Robertson did fade a little and looked knackered so perhaps Gordon just wants a fresher left-back and one with more experience for such a key match. Robertson will be around for years to come so wouldn't worry too much.
  15. Excellent starter last night - so much packed in to an hour. And yes the bloke at the end was the person Rick contacted first on his radio who had was a survivor who had his son with him.
  16. Discuss away but would prefer people offer up examples as to why Greer doesn't merit a game given his proven record thus far for Scotland.
  17. Also played alongside Martin in the friendly V Poland in which we kept a clean sheet.
  18. Greer four caps three clean sheets and two goals conceded. Those stats say he is more than up to the job rather than chucking a part-timer into that position over him.
  19. I can handle centre-half discussions but when they start getting ludicrous like suggesting players out of position rather than using a more than capable centre-back (or two if you count Berra) then it starts getting ridiculous and does a dis-service to those two players.
  20. Well it is hardly fair then that you get posters saying play Whittaker in there or Fletcher there before him when it is his specialist position and he has not yet let us down.
  21. Can people please post examples where Greer has let us down please. Four caps and in those matches three clean sheets and the Nigeria match so leave off with all this crap of slating a guy who has played in a handful of matches in which 75% of those matches we have not conceded a goal.
  22. Okay I take your point on board. Now as for reasons to believe on the match tonight well we are better suited to counter-attack matches so this will suit us, we have that added little psychological edge having won the friendly 1-0 a few months ago, our recent form has been very impressive, we have become a tight defensive unit as goals conceded in the past year shows and despite their last result I still don't think Poland are anything to panic about. They are certainly not as good as Croatia and yet we went there and won in the last campaign.
