  1. Yes and as Federer and Murray are scheduled to meet in the semi this week, I think it's as simple as: Federer wins this weeks tournament - he'll be number 2 seed at flushing meadows Any other outcome - Murray will be number 2 seed at flushing meadows
  2. They moved the calendar a bit, so the points from this event last year dropped off this morning - that's what gives Murray the 595 point lead.
  3. No rest at this time of year! After such a huge effort, will be interesting to see how they get on this week in Cincinnati. Potential route to the title for Murray: R32 - Troicki R16 - Dimitrov QF - Cilic SF - Federer F - Djokovic Quite important that Andy retains the nr. 2 spot going into the US open to definitely avoid clashing with Djokovic before the final. Anything other than a Federer win this week will be enough - I think.
  4. Deserved victory and a huge confidence booster. Looking good for he next few weeks!
  5. Up a break in the deciding set now. Come on!
  6. Andy a break up - after 6 attempts - in the first set.
  7. He certainly has! After 25 months and 8 straight defeats against him, this could be the day he beats Djokovic. Here's hoping!!!
  8. Djokovic through to the final - surprise surprise. A few hours until Andy is due on court for his semi against Nishikori. Also read that Andy has now qualified for the tour finals - a great achievement considering the real struggle he had to qualify last year.
  9. 51 for me, which is more than I expected considering the list is largely a list of towns and suburbs of greater Glasgow. No sign of Aberdeenshire towns like Banff, Huntly, Turriff, Westhill, Ellon, Banchory, Kintore, Kemnay, Macduff, Portlethern, Oldmeldrum, etc.
  10. Jamie v Andy on serve at the moment. Who's Judy cheering for?
  11. So much for seeding! Monfils and Cilic both nocked out in the second round. Andy currently a set up and on serve (after recovering from a break down) in the second).
  12. Andy tends to play doubles when the tour moves to a new surface to aid the transition: Munich (clay), Queen's (grass), Washington (hard). There may also be the temptation to enter the doubles at Masters tournaments as they're fairly lucrative. However, feel a bit sorry for the genuine doubles players who need the cash more and must get bumped to make way for the top singles players. With the rain delays so far in Montreal, scheduling could now be a problem. Andy could now have to play two matches on at least two different days.
  13. Surprising that they've never met before. I tried to check this stat last week as they were scheduled to meet in Washington, but both had early exits. Should be interesting to watch, particularly as Leander Paes is partnering Andy and they had a fairly easy first round match. Looking at the singles draw, Andy's potential route to the title: R32 - Robredo R16 - Monfils QF - Cilic SF - Nishikori (or Nadal if he somehow finds his hard court form!) F - Djokovic
  14. Whatever Andy's reason for entering this tournament, it hasn't worked - defeated at the first hurdle (he also entered the doubles and lost at the same stage on Monday). Disappointing that he's citing tiredness as an excuse in the post match interviews. With Federer pulling out of the Rogers Cup next week Andy will be seeded Nr. 2, so a great chance to bounce back!
  15. Back to the tour and a confidence boosting win for Nadal in the Hamburg 500. A bit surprised that Andy has entered the Washington 500 next week - immediately before two back-to-back Masters tournaments. Thought he would have taken an extra week after the Davis cup exploits. Three solid weeks of tournament play could be tough!
  16. A good result on paper, but already nervous about the second leg. In the previous couple of rounds we haven't HAD to win our home games (and duly failed to do so), next week the pressure is really on... Kairat looked sharp going forward and I think it's likely they'll score at Pittodrie - can we score three? Possibly. Should be a cracking match!
  17. Andy is having a great season and probably playing at his highest ever standard. He played to his seeding at Wimbledon and did very little, if anything, wrong today. Federer was simply better and no one, past or present, could live with him on that performance - hope he wins major nr 18.
  18. Another 90 minute stroll for Federer. This win means Murray can't take the number 2 ranking at Wimbledon, regardless of the semis and final results.
  19. Plus with the roof closing, it basically becomes an indoor match. Couldn't have happened at a more crucial point in the set. The next game is huge.
  20. Federer's serve has been broken for the first time since the first round at Halle - 116 service games. Doesn't look like it's affected him though as he immediately breaks back... Now serving for a two set lead... once they get back on court after another rain break.
  21. Typical Novak. Anderson dominated that set for the most part, yet get to the business end and Djokovic breaks.
  22. Totally agree. There was only going to be one winner if the match switched to centre court last night. A nights rest and knowing you only have to play one set of tennis will be more of a benefit to Anderson - he definitely has a chance today.
  23. Nice one! Djokovic 2 sets down.
  24. Pospisil comes from two sets down to beat Troicki. Murray (should he win today) will play an unseeded player in the QF - to think a couple of weeks ago people were talking about that match being against Ferrer or Nadal.
