  1. I think overall we're playing better football, in as much that we are able to keep possession of the ball in the first two thirds of the field. However, we don't have the penetration (other than Anya's pace) in the last third that can turn that possession into goals. Ireland don't have the same overall possession game however, they have a couple of players that can produce something a little bit different, in flashes, in areas where it counts. Having said that, it will be close but we can and will win (SURELY !!!!!).
  2. Absolutely correct, on both points. Any criticism of Martin, against Poland, is very unfair, as he hardly got any touches on the ball because we basically didn't have it much in that time. I've said before, he bullies defences in the Championship (more so that Rhodes does) and scores goals with both feet (which Fletcher can't do, as his right is for standing on only !) and is not scared to put his head in where it hurts. I'm not saying he is the Messiah, but lets be fair to him and see what he can do in a game where we have plenty of the ball, before we pass judgement on him !
  3. Overall, that's pretty accurate. Hutton - Wasn't terrible but not as productive as he should have been. He takes far too long to even try and get a cross in and allows the defence time to organise themselves. Their half time sub (No 15), who played on the left, hardly ever tracked back, leaving Hutton much more opportunity to get forward but he still didn't get to the line and cut the ball back. In fact, both Hutton and Robertson didn't get passed the last defender to get to the line to cut the ball back (which really is the more dangerous play than throw in crosses from midway into the half). Maloney - Had some tremendous shimmies and left the opposition for dead but then gave the ball away with a poor pass. I would have had him off 20 minutes to go, as he was playing backwards by that time. Fletcher - Bit of an over-rated performance. Had a couple of tremendous lay offs and back heels to play others into great positions but still flatters to deceive. He was played in a couple of time for what should have been great goal scoring opportunities but because they were on his right foot, he had to stop and wheel all the way back, to get the ball onto his left foot, by which time the opportunity was lost. Really is pretty poor that a professional player has so little confidence on his clearly 'bad' foot. Even a toe poke with his right would have been worth a try rather than losing the opportunities, which he did. I would have him off with 20 minutes to go as well, and put on Martin, who looked very good at holding the ball up when he played against Nigeria. Plus, his goal scoring record for Derby is pretty good and he looks like he bullies defences when he plays for Derby (and the Georgia defence was no better than the average Championship team defence). But hey, Strachan's the manager and he must have reasons for his decisions. A win's a win, but it really should have, and could have, been a lot more comfortable. Onwards and upwards (I hope) - away to back my bag for Warsaw - Believe !!!
  4. I get free entry to Servisair Lounges, for all passengers for almost all away games, when I book through RBS travel service. I usually have a group of 12 or so and none of us have ever been refused admission to any lounge, including Heathrow, because we were wearing kilts or Scotland jerseys. 100% sure you will not have any problem, as long as you don't make too much noise and annoy other passengers in the lounge.
  5. Thanks for both those suggestions. I see The Crystal Palace is a Wetherspoons, which is always cheap and cheerful, and means more money left for Warsaw !!! Either will do nicely. Cheers
  6. Not from Glasgow and intend getting the Subway from St Enoch Subway Station to Ibrox. Can anyone please advise of any pubs in the Glasgow Central/St Enoch Subway Station area that will definitely allow children/teenagers (aged 11 and 15) in ?
  7. It was so cold that ice had formed in one of the squares - with drunken kilted skaters !!!! - Why would you think that because you had skated as a child, 45 years ago, you would be able to perform like Torvil & Dean, despite the 10 pints inside of you. Was very funny - but still got a sore a*se (from the skating) !
  8. I would disagree with that. I think he's a very good keeper, and probably one of the better ones in the EPL. However, I thought he could have done better with a couple of the goals yesterday. He's still very worthy of a place in our squad but certainly not first choice !
  9. Absolutely ! I am a very disappointed YES voter, and am so distrustful of the parties that ran the NO campaign, that I am seriously considering joining the SNP (even though I was not, until this time, an active political person), along with the many thousand that have done so, in the last week or so. I thought that the YES banners etc in Dortmund was okay and acceptable, as it was so close to the polling date to miss a good opportunity. However, please don't let this roll on and on, and fragment the Scotland support any more. There may, or may not, be future referendums but, in the meantime, let's put the politics aside and everyone get 100% behind Scotland, and sing and shout loud and clear, and that includes the National Anthem, whatever it is. Against Georgia and In Warsaw, I will sing 'we can rise to be a nation again', whether or not that is likely to happen in my lifetime. It will sound pretty stupid if we have some not singing the Anthem, or lines of it. Lets not look stupid and petty, and please get 100% behind the team in every way we can, which might just help a proud nation qualify from this group. There are plenty of time for political opportunities, but please not at this time !
  10. First time I've seen him in action, but am I alone in thinking that he is like a young Gareth Bale. The way he runs, shields and controls the ball, heads the ball, and his gait, are a mirror image of Bale. Only hope he turns out to be as good as him - judging by that clip, he's on the way !
