  1. Well as a comparison, I'd say Aberdeen should be much closer to the Europa League than Shamrock Rovers surely, but they've been nowhere near it. I'd also say that just because he did what was expected of him, doesn't really say much. The years they finished 2nd, they were expected to be 2nd, it's not like they were close to causing an upset. Using the Scottish Premiership as a barometer for the national job is just wrong, we should be looking to someone who has a bit of form at a higher level. How has McInnes record in Europe been since being at Aberdeen, that's where he should be judged. And, as I said to someone earlier, if he's a good manager then fine, please explain to me why, let me know what I'm missing.
  2. He managed to get Shamrock Rovers into the group stages of the Europa league. Does McInnes have anything like that in his locker?
  3. Yes, but he does have a record at a higher level unlike Levein or McInnes which, for me at least, says something. I don't really think it makes a difference that he was only the assistant or coach, he still has that knowledge. Maybe you could enlighten me as to why McInnes would be a decent shout for the job. Genuinely interested BTW, not looking for an argument.
  4. I don't see Clarke being anywhere near as much as a gamble as Levein. Clarke has already coached at a far higher level than Levein had at the time or probably ever will. McInnes imo would be a far closer comparison to Levein.
  5. Moyes got Everton into the Champions League with a squad consisting of Nigel Martyn, Alan Stubbs, Lee Carsley and Marcus Bent and regularly finished in the top 6, something they've only did once since he left. Was also the one that promoted Wayne Rooney and signed James McFadden and Tim Cahill.
  6. I'll make this simple. 1. I'd prefer Clarke, but have no issue whatsoever with Moyes. 2. I'm not portraying him as an exceptional premiership manager, I think he was an above average manager, but for whatever reason you have seem to think he's done badly. Nobody has bettered what he achieved at Everton, even with the amount of money they've thrown about lately, and he probably didn't do much worse at Man Utd than Van Gaal or Mourinho, again without the financial backing they had. 3. As I said earlier, you have absolutely no idea which clubs have and haven't been in for him, you're just speculating towards your opinion. 4. His recent record is still way better than Bilic, West Ham proves that without doubt.
  7. Lol, nobody says he's the latter day Jock Stein, he's just not as bad as you make out, and a better choice than Bilic who was last managing in Saudi Arabia. How bad do you need to be to end up there? No wonder he been linked to the Scotland job, anything would be better than being stuck there. And how do you know they didn't go for him? Enjoy your evening 👍
  8. I'd hope so with the amount he spent compared to Moyes. Luckily for West Ham, Moyes was able to keep them in the EPL after the shambles Bilic left 👍
  9. And Bilic has fucked up at everywhere he's been, which isn't much, since the Croatia job 10 years ago including being far worse at West Ham than Moyes was. Bilic had West Ham 3rd bottom before Moyes came in and kept them up.
  10. Nah, somebody like Lars Lagerback has a proven international record. Bilic has one tournament 10 years ago, with his own nation, hardly a lot to shout about, while Moyes last job, just last year, was digging West Ham out the shite Bilic had put them in. No rational person can slate Moyes and praise Bilic, its fucking mental.
  11. But apparently Moyes is the shit manager while Bilic is hailed for achievements from about 10yrs ago.
  12. Christ, your hatred for Moyes is unreal. Everyone has people they like or dislike for the job, but it's just that, a preference for the job. Yours is bordering on personal and quite frankly a lot of absolute nonsense.
  13. Not sure what I'd make of Advocaat as manager. Initial thought is, aye great, then I think back to how poor Holland were under him, but then I think, was that down to poor timing eg that the old guard got old and that the youngsters weren't quite ready to step up.
  14. This is not a direct dig at you mate, but this is typical of this board. Plenty on here willing to slate the likes of Clarke, Moyes and Gemmill, but give them a foreign name like Bilic and Wilmots and they all get excited. Now, I'm not against a foreigner getting the post, but what has Wilmots done to deserve the job? Even Bilic, he's looked on a as a successful manager, but it's years since he did anything worthwhile, but on the other hand Moyes has been more successful in the same time frame but looked on as damaged goods and on a downward spiral apparently.
  15. That Man Utd died when they brought Woodward in. They're ran as a business now with a main goal of making the shareholders money. Pogba and his likes are perfect for a club like that. I think it could be a while before they are winning major honours again.
  16. Apparently Bruce Arena is allegedly interested in the job. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6967995/Scotland-considering-former-USA-boss-Bruce-Arena-replace-Alex-McLeish.html
  17. I never said I wanted Moyes, I said previously Clarke was my 1st choice, but wouldn't be disappointed with Moyes and gave reasons why. They are by far the two most experienced from the names being thrown about and would/should be a huge improvement on what we had.
  18. Are you still wheeling out stats like their relevant? And if you're going to use them at least use relevant comparisons. Why would anyone compare McLeish's Scotland record to Moyes record in La Liga? How is playing Israel, Albania and Kazakhstan relevant to games played in one of the world's top leagues? Why not compare Moyes premier League record against McLeish's or even Clarke's? It's fine, I know why. And maybe it's you that can't read. What part of our discussion did you tell who your choice was?
  19. He wasn't dispatched from his last 3 jobs, he resigned from his last 2, sacked at Man Utd and Sociedad. Managers don't disappear for a year and bounce back? Really? You heard of Claudio Ranieri or Louis Van Gaal? And finally, who you want isn't irrelevant, it's an opinion. If you're going to pick holes in everybody else's opinion at least have the balls to have one of your own to get shot down instead of hiding behind a shit excuse.
  20. Only to some. The bottom line is most people know sod all about football, they just talk a good game. All this downward spiral talk is a load of crap, at the end of the day it doesn't mean shit. You could easily argue that after being relegated with Sunderland, he has spiraled upwards in keeping West Ham up last year, but that wouldn't fit a lot of people's agendas. What about Mourinho? What if he applies, should we just say "sorry mate, you're on a downward spiral". So, again, who's your choice?
  21. Personally, I wouldn't have an issue with that, if it meant he'd been successful and we were in the Euros next summer.
  22. Maybe he decided to take time out, maybe he decided to travel and learn other methods, maybe he's not had an offer he's liked, who knows? It's not likes he's skint and needs the work. Bottom line is he's the most experienced manager that seems to be in the running for the post and we're not exactly a catch at present. As I've said previously, he's maybe not my first choice, but I wouldn't be upset if he got it. Who would you have and why?
  23. My pride is in not being an idiot like you as you're clearly clueless. Where did I admit mediocrity? Doing very well with a club that are almost always battling relegation is the tip of the iceberg. I'm more interested in the work he did in England at the highest level with world class players against equally world class teams, or is that just mediocre too. Who do you think should get the job?
