  1. Exactly. Theres no way there was more than 20k there. And that was with thousands of free tickets and 2000+ NI fans.
  2. Tanadice probably about perfect size. Although Easter Road more convenient for me :-)
  3. That's good news. Hopefully hear more this week. After last nights attendance I really do hope it's played away from Hampden.
  4. I am imagining that. They're pish. 3 points. Draw one of our other two games and I'll need an extra week off work.
  5. If that suits you then go for it. Think I read you've already done 16/17. A good 20/22 on April 20th and then maybe somewhere between 17-20 between then and marathon and I'm sure you'll be fine. It all really depends what you're looking for. It's your first marathon, so are you just looking to finish? Run the whole way? Or a time that you're after? I would say I'm reasonably fit but it took me until my 5th marathon to run the whole way. Part of the reason for that is not doing the long runs in training. Having the miles in your legs and your head is the key imo. As someone said above, everybody is different. Everyone has their own routines. What I've recently found works for me is making sure I've some long 20 mile runs in my legs. The short ones in between aren't so important unless you want to speed up imo. Try to start long training runs at the same time as the marathon and figure out what and when to eat to allow you to get a decent jobbie pre race. I was amazed last year when I did a work marathon that one of the serious runners I was with (2h40 runner) would drink plenty coffee at breakfast and had 7 shits pre race. He seemed to think this was normal. He's been a serious athlete for 20+ years. Personally I'd be happy with 2. I know it sounds bizarre chat for a running thread. I have a couple of glasses of OJ and have found flap jacks great for carbs. Easier to eat 3 flapjacks from scotmid than 2 bowls of porridge, I've found that's kept hunger at bay long enough. All helps the confidence if you've got these things sorted and know it works. Make sure you keep the fluids up on the way round. Keep topping up with water and whatever isotonic drink they have. If you've not been using gels then don't use them on the day. They can play havoc with your guts.
  6. Any word on this or any other game in June?
  7. That maybe so, but they were awful tonight. They've obviously a number of players to come back for their game with Finland. If they win that and Greece beat Hungary they'll be 5 points clear in second. Good luck to them. I hope we draw them in France :-)
  8. Thoughts on tonight Anya caused some real problems with his pace, but other than that, he's actually not a good footballer. When he beat his man his ball in was poor. If he didn't have space to outrun the defender, he just ran into him. Bizarrely though when you see the problems that pace can cause he's probably still worth his place in the starting 11. When he can be arsed, Stevie Fletchers link up play is great. He just seems to saunter about the pitch half the time though. Doesn't really look like he's going to run into the box and attack a cross. As poor as Anya's crosses were on several occasions the lack of movement in the box made it tough for anyone to pick out one of our players with a cross. We lacked any real penetrating balls. As pish as Charlie Adam may be, his eye for a pass would help break a team down. Fletcher and McArthur were tidy enough in the middle and put in a good shift winning and keeping possession but they couldn't provide a killer pass and they fannied about on the ball trying to decide what to do with it. The addition of Morrison helped as he looked to attack more.
  9. 3 weeks before I generally the big one I'd say. That being said if you did your biggest run on the 20th April but followed it up with maybe a couple other slightly shorter ones you'll be fine.
  10. That's good to hear. I predict we'll wear our away strip!
  11. A draw. Don't want the Poles getting to many points on the board and if we could follow that draw in June with a draw or better the Irish will be toiling. Looking at the remaining fixtures, I suspect it'll come down to us v Poland in October for 2nd spot.
  12. Yeah, usually is for big city marathons. Shows the shortest route. I actually think I ran 26.9 miles. If you're looking for another foreign one to do, I'd recommend Rome. Same time of year, fairly flat, loads to see on way round and a braw medal!
  13. Perhaps it's not the watch, but the route you're running. Although I guess that should never be under. As I didn't stick rigidly to the blue line in my marathon last week I ended up running well over 26.5 miles.
  14. I don't expect we'll get anywhere near 11, but it would be great to see a big win v Gibraltar. Perhaps even a first hatrick in almost 50 years!! Biggest win I've seen and suspect same for many was 6-0 v Faroes in 2006. Anybody at the 11-0 in 1970?
  15. I'd say very slim. Marathon was full around the turn of the year I think. Obviously haven't been put off by Barcelona, which is great to hear.
  16. I've done that a few times. We've not always been together.
  17. Agree about the gherkin bit and I was also a little disappointed about the beach bit. Never been to Barca before so didn't really know what it was like there. Crowds were also quite disappointing. I didn't expect London style numbers but a few more would of been nice. Bleeding nipples does not sound good. I don't recommend 8 hours of beer post marathon. Today has been tough!
  18. Well done. How did you find it? Really enjoyed it. The start and finish were tremendous.
  19. It was bloody freezing at the South Africa game too. Despite being a braw day.
  20. Certainly was. Thought I ran quite well, but was a good minute and half down on pb.
  21. Ran Inverness half last year and enjoyed it. Thought it was quite well organised. Was just a little disappointed it didn't run through the centre of town a little more. First time at Aberdeen parkrun for me this morn and it was a braw morning for it. Tough wind for the first half though. Preferred it to Hazlehead.
  22. Anyone any tips for flights that get back to UK early Saturday morning?
  23. There were just over 150 runners today which looks to be about double their average. It was a little crowded at the start but it was fine and no more congested than any other start. I certainly can't blame my slower time on it being busy :-( As you'll know the route is quite narrow and is also an out and back course, which won't help if numbers do rise significantly. It could cope with a few more runners, even another 50 or so. I'll need to get to the beach next.
