I think in most cases, folk will post covers they like. If you're precious about an old favourite, you'll probably dismiss its covers and not be interested in posting them here. I had to do a quick survey to see why I'd posted. Mostly I like the cover more, but with several exceptions. A few were for stylistic contrast (if you knew the original)... 'surprise' if you like.

If everyone liked metal, I wouldn't. It would then by definition be popular pish.
