Although they are different types of player i think burke will get back in the squad and personally i think morgan should be called up.

He was our best player against england imo. I am just surprised he hasnt been bought by an epl club or a team on the continent hasnt picked him up.

Actually tbf we probably had better players than rangers during the years they were in the lower leagues.

I would say that this is first time since the mid 90s that the scotland national team has better players than either of the old firm. Last time was probably around 93/94/95 when celtic team was pretty poor and they were finishing lower than 2nd. Obviously the rangers team was class at that point and probably slightly better than the scotland team on paper.

Yeh i forgot about him but theres players more deserving of a start and it might be a while before anderson becomes a first team starter for scotland. Not sure if i am keen on playing no wingers in a 442. Would rather play wingers but sadly we just dont have enough of them playing at a high level and our best winger doesnt turn up for squads. Maybe if mikey johnston and 1 or two others turn into good players then we can play with wingers. Maybe morgan and burke could be tried on the wings but i am not sure burke is a proper winger. Hes more of a forward in the way martial or mane is but obviously not nearly as good. 433 for me needs to be tried, we have plenty of strikers/forwards who are potentially going to be playing a good level over the next few years. Stewart,morgan,burke,adams,brown, fraser are our future forwards. Not exactly a stellar group but they should be able to score the necessary goals against teams of a similar level or below to us.

Whos anderson? Also mctominay isnt a winger and i doubt he would do well there.

A 433 would be my preference. We dont have enough proper wingers to play a 442 or 451. A 433 allows us play a front three of say adams fraser stewart or adams dykes burke/morgan. Maybe even mcginn could be played as one of the forward three and then have a midfield three of say gilmour mcgregor armstrong/turnbull. I can only think of 2 or 3 good wingers we have and one of them(fraser) doesnt turn up very often anyways. Playing a formation with wingers is just not an option for us right now imo.

Morgans finish from last night.

Always thought he would do well when he first went down to england but hes struggled. Would be great to see him start doing well and fulfil his early promise. Preston have so far had 5 games that finished 0-0. They must be going for a record amount of 0-0 games in the championship. Poor preston fans must be bored to death lol.

Seems like stewart only has 1 year left on his contract which will make it easier for him to get a move to the epl imo. Sunderland will have the choice of cashing in on their prize asset in january or keeping him in the hope he scores the goals that get them promotion. If they dont get promotion then any epl club can pick him up for free or he can stay if he wants but i doubt he would pass up the chance to play in the epl.

2 goals for stewart tonight. If he carries this up then he will be gone in january to the epl. Hes clearly good enough for this level and has to be given gametime in these upcoming september games. Adams and stewart upfront might be worth a try or a 433 with fraser stewart and adams being the front three. Either way its great that stewart has started well in the championship. Perhaps hes our version of jamie vardy.

Another goal for morgan. 12 goals and 4 assists so far this season is pretty good.

Hes going to end up in the epl at xmas if he continues scoring. 3 goals and 2 assists shows hes clearly good enough for the championship and we will need to look at giving him a proper first team chance in the september games.

I am becoming increasingly keen on a 433. Allows us to play guys like burke and morgan who are maybe not quite suited to playing as wingers in a 442 or 451. A front three made up of stewart adams burke morgan dykes fraser and brown gives us pace and guys who can create chances and score goals. Worth a try against teams that are weaker or of a similar level to us.

Yeh this is probably the last chance for him to make it at a good level but at least hes got a goal and that might earn him some more gametime. I dont have high hopes for him anymore but at least hes been given a chance in the bundesliga again which i am kinda surprised hes been given after his relatively poor stint at sheff utd. We dont have any decent wingers apart from fraser who doesnt turn up so burke hasnt got much competition in that area so he might get back in based on a run of decent bundesliga performances. I still hold out hope for him lol.

Thats optimistic lol. We havent produced a good goalkeeper since marshall, mcgregor and gordon came through which is more than 15 years ago. Personally i think we will be in the same situation in 2 years time as guys like slicker and main etc need more time than that assuming they make it at all. Liam kelly might improve but theres a good chance that motherwell will be his level. I cant think of many goalkeepers who could suddenly make massive improvements in the next couple of years. My main objection to mclaughlin in the past was his lack of gametime at rangers and the fact hes not played much football above league 1/spl. If he becomes rangers main man then i think he will deserve a chance to at least get a run in the scotland team when gordon retires.

Ciaran slicker started for rochdale last night. He got subbed after 67mins so i am unsure if he was injured or just playing really bad. The score was 0-0 when he came off so surely it must of been an injury. Perhaps someone can give us an update on it.

So who do we opt for if the situation is the same as now in 2 years? The hope is someone comes through but that might not happen.
