Lets just wait and see how things pan out with a back 4 before we start claiming its definitely the best option. Everyone seems to forget that until the last round of results we were doing reasonably well with 5 at the back. The back 4 looked good last night but personally i think our players decided to actually turn up this time unlike the play off and ireland game and our formation is not the only reason our form fluctuates. Whatever formation we play we need our good players to turn up and put in a good performance and last night that happened.

Tonights result is an example of what we should be aiming for consistently. Until the last round of games we were very much on a upward trajectory and hopefully this result is puts things back on track. This group of players is potentially a golden generation for us and under good management we should be getting to the next 2 or 3 euros and maybe even a world cup. Thats my hope for this group especially if some of the younger players turn into real stars.

Although we passed it well tonight its often a long ball hoofed up the park that gets us success. Adams and dykes both seem experts at winning a long ball and turning it into a decent attack. Perhaps its something that should be embraced slightly more by our team.

Mcginn is brilliant, i was actually cursing him a couple of times tonight before his goal but i should of known better. Guy knows where the net is which is something we rely on greatly. Really need more goalscorers in the team.

Maybe theres some truth in that but we really dominated as a team in the second half and i reckon patterson would have played well in the second half. I thought he played well before he was taken off. Question is what happens when robertson comes back. Personally i think tierney could easily play as a left winger/midfielder and we should maybe try that. Its either that or we drop robertson. I am probably one of the few who like him and i think hes done well under clarke but tierney gives us another dimension when he plays.

Whats everyones thoughts on who should start on saturday? Obviously the team played well tonight so starting the same eleven barring patterson is an option but dykes scoring 2 has perhaps made an argument for him starting as well as fraser. Not sure what i would choose but tonights team played well so i would be tempted to keep it the same for saturday.

Adams was unlucky, especially the one that hit the bar. I think its unfair to say hickeys the better player than patterson. Patterson has been excellent in a scotland shirt so far and its great that both are available at right back.

Does dykes and fraser start on saturday or same team again?

His workrate is great and he battles away. Thought he played ok. Dont want to be negative about him tbh as every player played their part in what was a excellent victory. Lets hope the players pull out a similar performance against ireland.

You think? Thought he was ok, his touch at times is brutal. He didnt play badly but hes definitely not a first team pick for me. Saying that he works hard and closes down players which is important. I would have fraser starting over him.

I thought we were quite good first half. Problem is we are very poor at holding onto the ball too long when we should be unleashing a shot or a pass.

He looked cracking. Great to have both players. Right back is covered for the next 12 or so years. Poor ramsay might struggle to get a game if his career takes off.

Dominated the second half. We need the same against ireland and then try and nick something over in poland. Is it likely we get a play off spot for comjng second?

Thats 8 goals in 23 apps. A 1 in 3 record for us is better than most of our strikers ever achieve. Hopefully he keeps it up.

Its great that we have someone like hickey who can come on for patterson. Hickey being able to play right back will really enhance his gametime chances and is a great assset for clarke.

We were decent in the first half but that second half we were excellent and made them look ordinary. Gotta give dykes credit. He might be in poor form for his club but he really does score important goals for scotland. That second goal kills the match and takes the pressure off.

Apart from workrate hes been one of the poorer players tonight. His touch at times is awful and he holds onto the ball too long and makes the wrong decisions half the time. I would much rather fraser in his place.

Lol your use of years is still a bit much. We had also played the last 20 years with mostly a back 4 and had no success so its not like you are suddenly vindicated on the back of tonight. Its not like we are winning 2/3 nil.We are nil nil at home to a team if similar standard.

We have looked better but ukraine look dangerous as well and its always a worry when they are in our final third.

Christie needs to come off for fraser. His touch is shocking at times. Only thing he provides is workrate. He shouldnt be a starter for us.

That was pretty shit from the ref. Player makes no attempt to play the ball and effectively takes out adams in a really dangerous position.

At least tierneys playing, hes usually an attacking threat regardless of which position he plays.

He hasnt exactly been great when played in midfield tbf. Hopefully he has a stormer tonight.
