  1. I'm not a fan of George Boyd, but Parklife, if he's so bad how do you explain the fact that he's doing well in the EPL? btw this is the game where he got MOTM. He scores a good goal about the 1:33 mark. http://youtu.be/l-r8hjVz7aQ
  2. For arguments sake, I'll attempt a definition. I'm going to say there are 3 categories of top class players #1 Regular starts and 1 or 2 man of the match awards per season in a top league In this category we have: McArthur, Naismith, Boyd, Hutton, Bardsley, Morrison, McGregor Fletcher and Robertson are not far away. #2 Regularly wins man of the match awards in a top league In this category we have no-one #3 Winning awards at the end of the season in a top league (league winners medal, POTY, team of the year etc.) In this category we have no-one
  3. Good shout. In the 6 months from August till January he played a total of 500 minutes of football, and was rubbish. He's played about 320 minutes since arry left, and he's assisted every single goal QPR have scored in that time.
  4. Maguire came on after 40 minutes, played well, and scored a goal.
  5. 4 in 3 games. I don't know why he was playing so badly at the start of the season, but he seems to have turned a corner.
  6. Disagree with this. I think his problem has been finding a position and getting a regular game. He's not a winger, and no-one has played him in the middle because of his size. It seems Lennon has given him a chance in the middle of midfield and he's been brilliant.
  7. Barry bannan has apparently been Bolton's best player since he joined them. Also bridcutt has seemingly been playing really well for Sunderland.
  8. Russell martin got motm today. Seems his form has improved dramatically since alex neil took over.
  9. Who scored gave Tony watt 10 out of 10 yesterday. With all our other forwards on the bench, might end up being in the next squad...
  10. Fletcher clearly made the right choice going to wba. Had his best game of the season yesterday apparently.

What makes me happy is a successful Scotland team. I think the eligibility rules are BS, but they are what they are, and making up our own rules would only harm the team. So, if it helps Scotland, every eligible player should be considered. Where I draw the line is with players who clearly couldn't care less about Scotland. Matteo, Elliot, Commons etc. But Bardsley doesn't belong to that category IMO.

When this subject comes up, someone always ends up saying that we'll end up with a team full of English born players. It's interesting that that team is the best you can come up with. The fact is, it's hard to get a game for Scotland at the moment, so there really isn't much danger of second-rate English-born eligibles getting a game. In the last squad of 26 there was only Gilks, Martin, Morrison, and Martin. Even going back through all the squads in 2014 you could only add Bardsley, Boyd, and Fletcher. And from all of them, AFAIK, only Gilks, Morrison, and Boyd and "granny rule" players. Martin, Martin, and Fletcher have Scottish parents, and Bardsley's Dad was born in Scotland.

Quote from this link Bit strange that the journo doesn't know how he qualifies if podgers1903 is right about both his parents being Scottish.

and also Craig Mackail-Smith! according to whoscored, CMS has been rubbish all season, but last night had a good game, even getting an assist. also according to whoscored Greer and Cooper were both solid. I imagine Cooper might be the real reason McGhee was at the game. It is possible that McGhee was there to watch Mowat, because he can play on the left of midfield. However, last night, apparently, he had a nightmare. With him being only 20, it will be interesting to see if he gets an U21 call up.
  15. Anya didn't get on last night. Another MOTM performance from Berra. Whittaker seemingly had a really good game for Norwich, even got an assist. Kevin MacDonald had a really good game for Wolves, also got an assist. Tom Cairney seems to have re-discovered his form, also got an assist.
  16. I missed this story at the time http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30470328 Fingers crossed!!!
  17. This link should work http://www.google.com/search?q=How-Qatar-is-funding-the-rise-of-Islamist-extremists&btnI
  18. I thought Paulo's comment was brilliant. I think someone posted above that Gauld doesn't look out of place in that Sporting side, and that's some achievement for a teenager, but there's not really much else to get excited about at the moment.
  19. I'm not sure about that. Sporting play a 4-3-3 which, I think, ends up like 4-1-4-1. Gauld can then play either position in the centre of the midfield 4 with a licence to get forward. Scotland have been playing more of a 4-4-1-1 with the two central midfielders being more holding midfielders. Gauld isn't a holding midfielder (like Morrison is these days) and he's not a winger (like Maloney is these days), so he has to compete for the position behind the striker. That means he's competing with Naismith, Snodgrass, and McCormack.
  20. I think that's the only explanation. The "SFA [a]re happy to help to try and improve Qatari football" in exchange for wads of cash.
  21. link: http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/sfa-chiefs-agree-qatar-tie-up-after-doha-visit.119061359 I'm just trying to work out, what they were doing there, and what benefit it could possibly be to Scotland. "There will be an enhanced relationship between us in order to improve the football system in both Qatar and Scotland." How is a relationship with Qatar going to improve the "football system" in Scotland?
  22. http://youtu.be/tW2_pOFbhXU Gauld makes a great decoy run for this goal. Alright, it's all Nani, but some strike.
  23. According to whoscored, Matt Phillips has been one of the worst players in the EPL this season. However, he's now just put in his two best performances of the season in back-to-back games. He's even gotten 3 assists in the last two games. I wonder if he can keep it up?
  24. 2 :-) but they're still over rated
