  1. Ohhh that looks good!!! - just got to find me someone with a boat.
  2. Talks (and played) a good game but when it came down to running a club he was well and truly found out. There were many to blame but he was meant to be the footballing brains - turned out to be the brains of a football! How he manages to talk with any authority when it comes to clubs in trouble, players wages etc is beyond me - he should hange his head in shame for what he did to us.
  3. Even I’ll admit that’s lunacy. 131miles in 24h is about 5.5mph, probably a lot quicker taking into account any stops! It’s also on a 4m course so nearly 33 laps – must have been one dizzy lad by the end!
  4. I used to run lots of halfs and 10K's but never fancied a full marathon. I just didn't fancy all the road training. But the 2 ultras I've done were mostly off road so thats where I try and do most of my long training runs (20-30m), which is far more enjoyable and scenic. I've still not done, and don't intend doing, a 'proper' marathon! On-line entries for the Highland Fling Race 2015 (53m from Milngavie to Tyndrum) open on Sunday 12th October, 21:00 - only the 850 places up for grabs!
  5. Clyde Stride Ultra Marathon completed in 5h 37min for 4th male, which was a bit of a surprise and I’m well chuffed with. I don’t even remember seeing the 1st woman or the first 2 men at the start! Was bang on my 2h 20min schedule at the 18m mark and in 3rd place but then had an absolute horrible spell up 27 miles. Tried everything from gels to sweets and drinking lots but it just got worse. Then my crew fed me another gel which made me violently sick. But then 500ml of flat coke and I was off again having somehow only lost 20min on my schedule, but dropped 2 places. Managed to only loose a couple more minutes off my scheduled time in the last 12miles and picked off a place. Was going flat out for 3rd but he mysteriously managed to go from 2min ahead and catching quickly to having finished 10-12min in front! Can’t complain as it’s only my 2nd ultra and the first was a very painful experience! Lovely route from Partick to New Lanark but dodging traffic at 9am on a Saturday morning through the centre of Glasgow was an experience! Still struggling to walk today, stairs take a while and standing up / sitting down brings me out in a cold sweat!
  6. I've got the Clyde Stride Ultra this weekend. 40 miles from Partick to New Lanark. Drop bags prepared, kit next to get ready. Only my 2nd ultra so still feels like a step into the unknown and I'm certainly packing too much into the drop bags. Looking forward to the 2nd half as its mostly off road but the first half is along the river walkway so solid tarmac for the first 15 miles or so which could knacker my legs if I go off too fast! Anyone else doing it?
