Just on that, there are pros & cons. I only registered in the first place because Reeky Sporran was agitating to block guests and I'd been happily luring for ages. However, the reason I bothered registering was because I knew what I'd be missing. There's a risk that the board would struggle to draw new members if folk didn't know what was on offer.

Generous offer, GMC. For what it's worth, and I'm well aware that this board primarily serves a purpose that has nowt to do with me, there are a number of reasons why it was dying and they're not going to go away, but it does seem to be popular for travel and tickets so if folk want to take it on, I guess they should pm one another, and then admin 4, and start working out the details. Maybe it's already happening?

Great input Donny & as far as I know, it's not happening that's why I've stepped up. On the banning guests point that was my one worry when proposing it. I'm happy to take the board on then work out the finer details by majority :ok:

  2. I'll be honest, I'm happy to step up & cover a shortfall £300 pm is a bit steep but with advertising revenue it can't be that much. Problem is I have no techy knowledge but I saw @fringo earlier was happy to donate that - if we can get the details of board, server etc, I'm happy to take the hit.

The moderatoon etc would need to be the same as it's what makes the board work but it's an invaluable resource for away games.

if people can handle a unionist (I've got to state that post 2014) taking the board on, then I'm happy to do it. Mods/admin would be made up from regular posters who are happy to do it, I would take a guess at 5 & annonimity would be key :ok:

i also wouldn't propose charging, but banning guests would probably be the way forward

    Too many to list...

This place was an unhealthy addiction for me for well over a decade. Couldn't begin to list the number of fantastic people I met through this board, but grateful that so many of them are now friends in my "real life". Also can't overstate how big a part of my life all of this was, the banter on here, the arguments and discussions, the characters, the stories - and then meeting up with folk in the most unlikely of places - that could only be contrived by a random qualifying draw for a football qualification campaign.

So many memories that will live with me forever.

FE, I've met you in many places over the years & I know I pissed Lamia off with my opposing views over the years but I could still sit with you for a few beers (even if sooz walked away after 1  ) and have a decent chat. In all honesty, one of the nicest couples I have met :ok:

I'm afraid he died earlier this year.

51 years of age. Blod clot in the leg.

That is shocking John, I had no idea, he was a cracking guy :ok:

First off apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, only just saw the news and feel totally gutted.

As an expat the Any Other Business part of the board and all of those who posted on it has kept me feeling still connected with current events in Scotland. Never more than during the lead up to Indyref where the MSM viewed through you tube gave such a sanitised view of what seemed through this board an uttering energising experience even if ultimately just came up short.

The Friday jokes by Flure I used to laugh at on the bus to work, with other passengers looking on bemused.

Surely this site can not be allowed to just go quietly. Can it be saved?

There's a bit of conversation on it in the thread entitled TAMB Closure Announcement :ok:

    Further to the Closure Announcement

Since announcing the closure, a number of questions have been asked.

This is not a "boot in the arse" to Board members to increase traffic.

It’s worth pointing out to any people wanting to take on the TAMB that they will quickly outstrip any “free” message board system. That’s what happened with the pre-2003 TAMB and also happened during the “current TAMB” in 2003 – 2004. hence the "high" cost of keeping the Board going.
It’s all about the number of concurrent users online. At a point yesterday there were about 150 users online – Invision would be charging $130 per month for that. (

We would be prepared to do a handover of the domain names that we currently hold to a non-profit making group which seriously wants to organise a new TAMB and has the skills and numbers to do it. This would not include existing software or server. We are especially keen that the platform or the name do not fall into the hands of what we can only call bawbags. We need not mention names, but I'm sure members can think of a few. Any new group would have to start from scratch and give TAMB a complete bottom up ‘makeover’ and make themselves financially viable.

We have a couple of people who are willing to offer advice to any serious players.

    The TAMB Team

I'm assuming that software & server would be fairly important parts of the board along with a fair bit of techy knowledge/skills.  That rules me out unfortunately.

Would it not be possible just to transfer ownership, billing etc?
