I think we have got the best out of dykes and he may still have a bit more to offer but not long term. Mcburnie is out of contract and like it or not will get paid £30-40k next season by a lower EPL or upper championship side. If dykes was out of contract he'd get £10-£15k if he was lucky in the championship. Selection is about far more than the quality of the players but those valuations are the best reflection of quality.

Using this logic we shouldnt bother with shankland

    Agreed.

He picked totally inexperienced Billy Gilmour for the crunch match V England at the last Euros. Plenty of fans on here did not rate Ryan Porteous but he bucked that trend and gave him the chance and has been proven right so far. He brought in Angus Gunn and lots more and dispensed with the likes of Stephen O'Donnell, Declan Gallacher, John Fleck and plenty more. Players that have been dispensed with and replaced by an upgrade that much is clear. Nobody hear can prove McBurnie is an upgrade going on all the evidence before us so far.

Mcburnie is going through a purple patch, everytime this happens to a player we end up with posters on here calling for them to be called up.

I like clarkes approach, he's happy to make changes but they aren't knee jerk changes, this helps the squad and the team mentality IMO.

I have already said mcburnie is making a case or himself although I believe its not a very solid case.....yet. I don't believe he will get to the Euros and I'm fine with that. I could see him getting the call if he continues this form and carries on scoring at the start of next season.

Dykes will never get moved aside for McBurnie, this is Clarke we are talking about.

McBurnie has also proven many times he can’t score at international level and is a very poor all round footballer when he plays - he seemed to not even be able to trap a ball or play simple passes etc when in a Scotland shirt.

The squad sizes are likely to go up to 26 now but we will always only ever play 1 uptop so he will still only pick 3 strikers in the squad, he’s just had a 26 man squad and there were only 3. The 3 will be Shankland, Adams & Dykes.

Clarke is showing signs that shankland will be the number one forward for the Euros. He's also dropped dykes for Adams when Adams came along

He's dropped players for others before so let's not make stuff up. It's not like He's stayed with the same lineup since he took over.

This is mainly a Scotland Football message board where most members do not support either of the OF

Therefore if a Celtic supporter whinges about Rangers fans behavior then they will likely receive the same short shrift that a Rangers supporter whingeing about Celtic fans behaviour would

The reason - as i said before - both clubs have the exact same elements amongst their support and anything one has done it is unlikely the other hasnt

Places where you are more likely to get positive responses to this whingeing are the Huddleboard or Follow Follow

The Scotland stats are exactly why Dykes will remain in front of him in the pecking order.

Clarke rewards consistent form at club level, but he doesn't make big changes based on purple patches. See Turnbull, Ralston, Souttar. They all got call ups eventually, but they had to bide their time and show it wasn't temporary.

McBurnie is probably 4th in the queue right now, I'd imagine, so it'll take an injury for him to get into the final 23.

a sensible post, i agree with you

I don't think there's any genuine hatred for mcburnie in our support. He's hit a purple patch and there is an argument for him, I'm just not sure the argument is strong enough yet.

If the squad sizes do increase. I'd say his chances go up a lot

Thats what I was saying about Skys replys and Sutton consistently refusing to not see what was on the screen.

Because he was adament it was a dive (that there was no contact etc which there clearly was) all the replays started after the point where Johnstone gets a touch on the ball. Ive still not seen a good replay to see how much he gets the ball.

Although if the Brighton game midweek is anything to go by, skimming the ball and then connecting with the player is still a penalty these days. Im not sure how I feel about that. The ball skimming your arm and then hitting the post would be a penalty. Skimming the ball when in an offside position would still be offside so why is skimming the ball in a tackle not considered enough? (Assuming the rest of the tackle isnt dangerous / reckless.

I saw the video on twitter of the whole incident, i don't get why the VAR didn't show Beaton the whole incident unless we don't get to see what he see's. It was a horrendous use of VAR IMO.

I can’t see the problem with our pen. He caught him. Same defender got away with one in a previous OF this season.

Of course you can't. Getting pens like that is normal for you and the rest of the huns

For the rest of us we get to watching goldson handle the ball as much as he likes with no action.

We get to watch out players hauled down in the box with no action taken

If it wasnt careless or reckless, how would you describe making contact above the knee after swinging for the ball?

Why are you so desperate to justify a hun penalty? You don't help yourself here mate  😂

I'd describe it as accidental contact which in no way would stop a diving wee cunt from getting to the ball and taking a pop at goal..

The right decision wad the one made by Beaton to begin with. A yellow for simulation.

The problem with what you say is that its not what the rules are.

Nowhere in law 12 does it mention that any contact has to be enough to make the opponent go down.

Very few fouls that are correctly awarded in football would result in a person going to ground. If a person is kicked on the leg in a non football context then the natural thing to do would be hop about abit, not fall to the ground. In football though its accepted that players fall over when kicked. Thats what happened here, Johnstone swung and kicks Silva. I dont think anybody is disputing that. The only consideration then is whether the ref thinks its in careless / reckless. If it is then its a penalty.

I saw that whilst also saying Silva and players like him do my nut in. He was rolling about trying to get Celtic players booked or sent off all game. He was very much looking for Johnstone to connect with him but thats then what happened.

Ok ffs, the tackle was neither careless or reckless. It was a dive regardless of any rule you quote

Really poor game in terms of quality but action and incident packed.

I normally like Sutton but having him commentate on this match is pointless as there is the natural bias.

I thought Rangers penalty was a dive real time. But when you see the replay Silva is caught about the knee. He goes down easy and might have gone down anyway but Sutton just repeatedly said he was already down at the point of contact, even though at the same time you were getting numerous replays showing that wasnt the case. What this did was take away from the other aspect which was how much did Johnstone touch the ball. Unfortunetly Sky didnt even show that part of the replay.

CCV was the standout for Celtic.

Tavinear, Goldson and Lawrence were shocking for Rangers who were lucky to get a draw.

This will sound of coming from me as one of the most anti OF fans on here but the quality wasn't that bad IMO.
