Not yet, he still has to tell everyone he wants us to lose the playoff because we dont deserve to be at a tournament. To him the playoff was a waste.of time

Never said that I wanted Scotland to lose, in my entire life. If we qualify then we deserve to qualify. Will we win the playoffs? Nope.

Just because I don't think we'll win, doesn't mean that I want us not to win.

  2.                          McCrorie

             Cooper - McKenna - Tierney

    Burke                                               Taylor

          McGinn - Robertson - McTominay

                         Dykes - McBurnie

    ---

In my opinion, this match is a free-hit and even if we win, Norway will beat us. So let's switch to a 3-5-2 and STICK to it for a few years.

    -

    This will be Clarke's team:

    Marshall

    O'Donnel - Gallagher - McKenna - Robertson

    McTominay - Fleck

    Forest Christie Burke

    McBurnie

    we should we trying 3-5-2

    Quite right.

There's strength in numbers, therefore, load up the defence, load up the middle of midfield and load up the striking positions.

    3-5-2 IS the way forward.

Gilmour aside , as I think he’s well ahead of others, who do people think are Scotland’s best U21’s . Haven’t watched them live for a while but it doesn’t seem to be a false dawn to think a half decent National team is soon here.

Porteous; Patterson; Scott; Turnbull and Hornby should be in the full squad.

Our U21 team is alright. No better than that.

The real shining lights, however, are in the u17s and u19. Once those kids progress, I'm positive we'll qualify for future tournaments.

LDM - Tierney - lets try it

For me, I'm not sure why this is considered controversial. Tierney has the technical ability, the football IQ and the engine to play pretty much anywhere.

Will he play there? No. Steve Clarke is not a progressive manager.

Look at the European Cup final. Bayern Munich, Kimmich played at right back (he plays as an anchorman for Germany), Alaba played at centerback (he plays at anchorman for his country) and Davies played at left back (he began his career as a left winger).

    Clarke will play a 4-2-3-1

I'll pick my team when we see the squad.

(Thanks for the "confused emoji", person who is too scared to speak out. 😉)

On the plus side all the confused reactions have awarded me the poster of the day for yesterday, and at the current rate I might get it two days running!

Exactly. They don't seem to realize that, with every emoji, comes a rep point. So, it's a backhanded compliment.

Oh look, I received three in the one thread! Yay me!

    Back on topic.

Dykes won't enter my thoughts till he's made up his mind. Till then, I could not care less.

In the striking department we really are scraping the bottom of the barrel. When it's all done and dusted, though, we need to play with twin strikers... There's strength in numbers. If we played two strikers in the days of Kenny Miller and Steven Fletcher, we might've qualified for something.

Gary Mac is who he reminds me of also...

...I'd rather fir park burned to the ground than sell him (or anyone else) to that shower of cunts, but it's a foregone conclusion by the sounds of things.

He definitely has that innate arrogance that all top players have.

Yeah. Me, too. Villa escaped relegation, so they're loaded. You'd think that they'd repeat what they did with the John McGinn saga.

  8. Reports suggesting that Celtic are going to clinch the £3m signing of David Turnbull this week (it's just after Sunday, midnight.)

Hopefully this another case of the John McGinn scenario, where Celtic dither and a real club comes in for him. I see no reason why Villa couldn't do it again.

His poise, ability to quickly see the big picture, as well as the way he strikes the ball, he reminds me of Paul Pogba (Or Gary McAllister).

Reply to this post with either a confused emoji or a sad emoji if you agree with me. 😛

  9. Or person.

Four consecutive posts in a row with confused emojis? Well, five, because I sense this will receive one. (Thanks for the rep) 😉

I think there's a perpetually confused person here who can't form thought into words. lol. Bless their cotton heart!

This board has gone seriously down hill since simple people were given a confused emoji to use rather than explain the part they disagree with.

Agreed. It's a form of online bullying.

    There's zero accountability.

If you could see which people were doing it, you would notice that it was the same group of people.

Rumours that Sheffield Utd could move for Oli Burke. £5 million being touted. Could be a good move for him at a good price for the club

Would be great if Burke joined Sheffield United.

Chris Wilder is the most progressive manager in the EPL (Behind Klopp and Guardiola).

Hope you’re right. Lewis Neilson, just turned 17, and a performance school graduate, put in a very accomplished performance yesterday at RB for DUFC. I’m sure he’ll end up as a CH. Big strong lad but a very decent footballer

    Brilliant to hear.

Last season watching the Scotland u17 and 19s was a breath of fresh air. And I'm as cynical as anyone.

Talk about delusional. You must be a Celtic fan.

    Eww!

    (Does that answer your question?)

The old firm should be shipped of to either half of Ireland and never spoke of again in Scotland.

(If not, does that answer your question?)

Fine. I'll go to the other side, if it helps your paranoia. Barry Ferguson could still probably get into our best 11. 😛

  13. An epiphany that was mooted October 8, 2019?

    😛

It's pointless anyway, when Arsenal buy one (or two) top center backs, they'll begin playing Tierney at left back and the people here who are mooting playing 3/5 will ditch the idea and remember how successful we've been with 4-2-3-1...

Oh, and Clarke is a dinosaur of a manager.

All-in-all, I'm counting the days till King and Morrison progress into the top players that I hope they'll be.

So, we'll be equipped to play with a four at the back in, what, 4 or 5 years? Oh golly! I can hardly wait!

*Takes out sand-timer, with four years worth of sand*

Your last paragraph is reasonable, but I always base my views on inclusion of all levels. It is also true that “in a few years” Gilmour, McTominay, McGinn, and Turnbull will be a lot better than they are now and will be key players in the equivalent of top half EPL sides. I also have high hopes for Dean Campbell, Barjonas and Marc Leonard amongst others  - and that’s just central midfield.

When the Performance School graduates make the step up (Which Gilmour is one of them) they'll make players like McGregor, MacArthur, Christie, Fleck, etc, look like they were born with their feet on the wrong leg.

The technical ability of our u17/19 is leaps and bounds that of our seniors.

The same with the Performance Schools center backs... They can... Wait for it... Actually defend! King and Morrison will make defenders like McKenna and Gallagher look like... McKenna and Gallagher...

I think your being too harsh, compared to most countries we have a good standard of centre midfielder. Maybe no world class ones but if you compare us to nations like Albania and Israel then we are cut above in that department.

Your suggesting Darren fletcher and Scott brown where alot better than the guys now. What are you basing that on, you have already dismissed celtics midfielders for playing against spl dross, surely the same rule applies to brown. Fletcher was a good player but he did play in a great team and his job was to do the dirty side of the game which we have had plenty of others who were capable of doing that.

Our midfield options now in terms of depth and talent are excellent imo. I think it's been the mid nineties since we had as good central midfielders.

You can't expect us to have 5 or 6 midfielders playing for Bayern, barca etc that's just not realistic.

We probably won't beat Israel in the playoffs.

Darren Fletcher was veering towards being world class. If he didn't have his illness he would've been on par with Keane and Robson. It's a shame that illness robbed him of his best years. Well, Brown would get into our team right now, and he was better five years ago.

Excellent depth? It isn't. Even our first choice midfielders are... Decent. Take out McTominay and McGinn and Armstrong, I'm not sure who else we have.

Is it, though? We have a few kids at Bayern, Chelsea and Man City. Give it a few years and we'll look back and cringe at this set of midfielders. Personally, I prefer watching Scotland u17s than our seniors.

Yeh I will continue on as normal buddy, the TAMB is probably one of the best places to discuss football on the net, most of the ppl on here are smart and passionate about football and they love the Scotland football team. In depth analysis is why I post on here. I don't want to read short posts on ppls opinions, I want full blown anaylsis, it's why I come on here.

Quite right. Why should you censor yourself because a few certain people seem to be semi-literate. Maybe they should emigrate to Twitter.

    Keep it up, mate.

I've been lurking for a while, the amount of wannabe mods and downright bullies in this place is astonishing. A certain mob think they run the place... probably because they live here.

I don’t remember a default disposition of expecting world elite players. Suddenly we’re supposed to be at Barcelona level? You omitted Billy Gilmour btw.  McTominay, Gilmour, McGinn, Turnbull, Armstrong, Christie and more, is a whole lot better than we had 5 years ago.

People think we are strong in midfield. How many have won domestic medals last season? (Apart from Celtic players). Good players win trophies.

Billy Gilmour is only starting out. McTominay is regressing, and when United buy an anchorman next season, Scott will be a squad player.

McGinn will be in a relegation battle next season. Turnbull's at Motherwell. Armstrong will be mid table and Christie is playing against teams that have no disposable money.

We have a "strong midfield". Compared to whom? San Marino? Fair enough.

Five years ago we had Darren Fletcher and Scott Brown.

I just like to discuss things in detail. Wheres the harm in that. I don't think I am a writer, I have pulled up on my spelling and punctuation many times in here so writing is not my talent.

I don't see your problem, if you don't like long posts then don't read them. There's plenty of stuff on here that I ain't interested in but I just skim past it.

Personally, I enjoy reading your posts. It's nice to read in depth posts, as opposed to Twitter-esque posts.

Unfortunately, moving their eyeballs from left-to-right is too difficult for some people.

Just you do you, mate, if forum Nazis don't like it, all the better.

I think you’re at it. Again?

    I beg your pardon.

We are not strong in midfield. If you think we are, then fine.

We have central midfielders playing for Sheffield United, Aston Villa, Southampton, Celtic. Those are not great teams.

If you think the aforementioned are great teams, then maybe you're "at it". Whatever that means.

Are you so arrogant as to think that people shouldn't have opinions that differ from yours?

  20. 14 minutes ago, Hertsscot said:

Interesting that some of the more promising players are in positions we're not strong in. It will be interesting to see how Freeman gets on at United. He was well thought of before moving to Southampton but was blighted by allowing injury. Just an observation but there's a bit of a dearth of Celtic players.

We're only strong at left back.

If anyone genuinely thinks that we're strong in midfield is kidding themselves. Our strongest central midfielders play for Aston Villa (McGinn), Man United (McTominay... But he's now a squad player), Southampton (Armstrong).

Not exactly Barcelona, PSG and Juventus, is it?

It's immaterial anyway, as Scotland don't play with central midfielders. We play with two pivot anchormen.
