For Comedy and Musical, look no further than the Book of Mormon. I know the creators of south park and their humour is not everyones cup of tea but I loved that show. We will Rock You was also brilliant

Peaky Blinders is a brilliant series as is Line of Duty.

My nephew swears by "The Book of Mormon". He loved it. I'll probably give it a go at some point.

I watched the Mormon episode of South Park, even though I hate the animation as well as the voices on that show. The episode hardly featured the main characters so I liked the episode.

Still on comedy and musicals, "It's always sunny in Philadelphia" did a live production of "The Nightman Cometh" in NY, Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, LA and Philadelphia. The LA set, filmed at The Troubadour was included in the season 4 box set.

Trump is a loose cannon too. He has yet to convince me that he has what it takes in the mental department to win the world title. For me Ding will win that match perhaps 13-8 or 13-9. Selby is toiling for form and may not even get past Gary Wilson. Higgins has a chance but I worry about these surprising misses he throws in now and again. Top players punish that.

No. You could definitely say that in the past about Trump, but he's matured and he's treating practicing very seriously, as well as practicing more often. There's a maturity about his game that wasn't there in the past, even the way he talks, he seem more grown up. He even said that sooner or later you have to grow up, and he has.

His tactical game is getting up there with the best and his attacking play is the best. He has more balance to his game now and he's my pick to win the entire thing.

Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy posturing for an hour . Wtf is not to like ? Gtf with yer negativity 😊

Agree with you on ‘Cats’ , 2 hours of my life I will never get back. And unlike cats I only have 1 life.

Les Mis on the other hand . Anyone who doesn't shed a tear is already dead.

I literally have no idea why anyone would write a show about Cats. I think it was a bet that he made with someone one night when they were drunk, the best was to see if he could write a musical about the most random and non-musical type thing on earth, and still make it a worldwide success. Kinda like how they did with "50 Shades", but that was to take the worst fanfic on the net and make it into a global smash.

    Agreed on Les Mis.

"Phantom of the Opera" also deserves a mention. I know that people sneer at it, but for me it's got a personal connection, therefore it gets two thumbs up from this guy! :ok::ok:

Smashing movie, who doesn't love Danny DeVito,

Ahh! "The Brothers Grimsby" it's called here. And yeah, I think about 30 mins of the movie and I checked out. Did they actually make a musical out of it? Bloody hell. I've never been a fan of Sasha Baron Cohen but no other movie made me want to kill before... maybe Thor: Ragnorock (sp?)

    You, too. :)

lol! If you bump into Julie Walters you know what you have to do... :P

Junior high school for girls ; not sure what category it falls under

aye thats the one i saw “beautiful”

visit to NY couple years back ; family went to see Matilda by Times Square , meanwhile i took in the shockingly bad “Grimsby” at nearby movie theatre (renamed brothers grimm over the pond )the lengths i go to in Show avoidance...

I used to know the equivalent as my ex girlfriend  was from Seattle. Probably primary school, I think.

The one thing that sets it apart from the majority of musicals is that it's biographical and that it's actually co-written by the person that the biography is about. I read the novel way before the musical was even a twinkle in their eye.

Oh man, Times Square? Lucky bastard! I'd love to visit New York. Mmmm… never heard of "Grimsby" or "Brothers Grimm", but by the sounds of it I'm glad that they passed me by. lol. You know, for a guy who tenderly mocked me for my love of musicals you've racked up a fair few musical miles yourself! Good for you.

And in the next round he could very well play Ding Junhui who will chew him up and spit him out

I see Trump is playing Ding.

    Trump will win.

I can't remember a more open world championship than this one. I really can't separate Trump, Robertson and Selby. And you saw what happened last year with Williams so anything can happen. Personally I'm hoping that Higgins can turn back the clock.

Don't get me wrong, as a Scot, I'd love Maguire to win the world title but I have followed his career for almost 20 years and he just does not have the all-round game to do it. Too inconsistent and temperament highly questionable. And in the next round he could very well play Ding Junhui who will chew him up and spit him out as Ding punishes mistakes which Cahill has not.

Maguire looks set to take a 9-7 lead into tomorrow but even if he runs out a winner far harder matches lie ahead.

No. I totally get it. He's frustrating as hell. Even O'Sullivan said years and years ago that Maguire was a future world champion, and to be honest, he could've won it if he wasn't such a hot-head. I think he needs a sports psychologist. .

Thank for the updates, by the way. I haven't been able to watch it tonight as I'm working pretty much all night and all morning.

Of course ; the oz bit was an attempt at humour

was actually at a (school) musical last night - but kind of enforced

i saw Chicago with the missus about 20 yrs back in London ; thought it was impressive ; since that saw Carol King musical ( free tix ) recently ; a total “meh”

only decent brummie show would have been Crossroads

I know. You'd be surprised by the homophobic comments, though, or maybe you wouldn't. A human mind should experience as much as it can, while it can.

Oh really? High school or younger? If it's younger it's cute, if it's high school it's usually not so.

Ah! Then you're one up on me. Never see Chicago, not even the movie version. Would you recommend it?  Yeah, I've seen the Carol King musical. "Beautiful", right?  I actually kinda liked it, which is rare for me as I don't really like modern musicals. Very few modern musicals earn the title a "classic", and don't even get me started on Cats. *shudder*

Never got into peaky blinders ; tried a few times ; do like historical dramas , but lot of those shows suffer from using same film set/street scenes over again

Narcos; Si Patron , thought the mexican one better

tbh typically avoid musicals like the plague ; was an American school band one that was popular few years back, and really struggle finding any comedy i enjoy

I usually gives most shows a chance, and I did with Peak Blinders, but seriously, a show about Brummie gangsters?! I'd actually be more convince by a gangster version of the chuckle brothers... but peaky blinders is funnier and the chuckle brothers are a whole lot more frightening!

I really don't get all these shows about gangsters and drugs and true life shows about serial killers. I mean, what's wrong the human psyche that we have to quench our thirst on this kind of material?

I've always been a fan of musicals, usually the older ones. I haven't seen "Hamilton" yet, which has a contemporary vibe to it... and contrary to popular belief, straight men can enjoy musicals, too. I think most people in the arts have a natural inclination towards musicals and theatre.

    Maguire really is infuriating.

He is leading but stomping around the table. Thumping the table when missing (that can't do your hand any good) and getting frustrated and whacking reds all around the table and offering up a chance. If I never knew better I'd swear Maguire was the amateur and Cahill the pro. I mean it is sending a clear message to your opponent saying look at me I am under the cosh.

I know. But Maguire will still win.

That's one of the things that bugs me about upsets, the player always usually loses in the next round.

  11. Not really into the posturing alpha male show like Peaky Blinders, etc. Yawn fest.

    Comedy is more my pitch:

Santa Clarita diet: A Zombie/suburbia show starring Drew Barrymore. One of the better Netflix comedies.

Plus, if like me you like comedy and musicals, check out "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, also on Netflix. If you watch the promos it looks like a generic cheesy female based comedy, but it gets darker in season 3 (it's where I'm at) and it looks at mental illness from a different angle. Plus It's funny how there hasn't been musical/tv shows before now.

You have completely went off track as usual. No one on this thread at all said anything like these young kids are the second coming or the players that we are all pinning our hopes on. All that was said is that a lot of the players looked technically very good and that it was a great game of football. No one said these kids are potential world beaters.

And you haven't reserved judgement at all, you made your judgement and made comments that it was probably like watching a volleyball match without even watching the game. Maybe you should take heed off your comment and really reserve judgement until you actually see something with your own eyes before passing comment instead of posting negative drivel

People can view my opinions about formations and about how Andy Robertson or Tierney would make truly great anchormen as crazy and nutty. I welcome people engaging their brains and thinking outside the box, so I don't mind people disagreeing with me as long as they give me a cogent reason. However, in this case, the case of youth development in Scottish football, everyone ought to be on my side.

For years now the SFA and our domestic clubs have ignored their duty to aid and nurture homegrown Scottish players. This is undeniable.

So what, just because Rangers beat top clubs at youth level and because the SFA establish a few performance schools it'll make up for decades of neglect? Yeah... no. I'm not buying it. I'm not buying into the notion that our kids are actually learning the basics. I'm not buying that our kids are becoming more intelligent footballers.

I'm just not buying it for one second.

If I'm wrong then I'll be the first one to hold my hand up and admit it. Time will tell.

My prediction is that in ten years we still haven't qualified for a finals. Our youngsters still struggle with basic skills, like control and pass, etc. And the SFA have pulled the wool over our eyes with yet another hairbrained youth scheme.

You can call it negative drivel all you like, I respect all opinions. We're through the looking glass.

He shouldn't be in the team ahead of Herrera, United's points total with him in the team compared with when he's not is staggering.

He's a better option that Matic at this point and is a completely different player to Pereira and doesn't play the same sort of role. If anything it was Fred that started over him on Wednesday, on the basis of his performance I doubt he'll be starting on Sunday.

Fred is an anchorman, McTominay is better when he has license to roam. Against Barcelona and PSG It was a midfield trio of Fred, Pogba and McTominay, with Fred as the anchorman.

Raw as fuck, and I've no doubt he'll struggle to play next season, but he has the tools to possibly make it

He does look like a prospect, he has power, pace, skill... but none of those things do a lot when sitting on the bench.

He should've stayed with Motherwell for another season or two.

See what is the need for comments like that. You never even watched the match so why pass comment like that. I agree with you on a lot of things especially on how we can promote youth and bring through better players in this country but you are becoming a constant source of negativity on every single topic posted on here. That Youth Cup Final last night was something to be positive about and the fact Rangers won it with 8 Scots in their team even more so. That Rangers team also won a prestigious Youth Cup a few months ago beating a lot of top quality teams. There does appear to be a lot more technically gifted players emerging which is positive. It isn't all negative all the time. Getting these players through is the hard part and another conversation but for now it is great to see so many talented young players put on a show last night at Hampden

We've had so many false dawns and countess young players that we've pinned our hopes on, and time after time we've been let down. If this time it's different, if these kids really are the second coming then I'll be happier than anyone. Till now, though, I'll reserve judgement.

Unless teams are forced to play these kids, and kids of their ilk, it doesn't really matter. History has shown that if left to a manager's own devices, he'll go foreign and leave their homegrown players to either quit the game or stew away on the outskirts of things.

Others may be cautiously optimistic, I'm just pessimistic.

I remember a lot of people on here when he joined Liverpool that it would be a bad move for him as he wouldn't break into the team and would never get a game.

    Really?

Strange opinion as he was brilliant at Hull as well as Dundee United.

  17. 23 minutes ago, Lion Rampant said:

Talk of Herrera being available again so he may miss out again

    It's insanity.

The common consensus of United fans (and bear in mind, the majority of them wrote McTominay off) Is that McTominay has been their best player for a month or so. Dropping him to play Matic is just madness, and doing it for Pereira is just plain weird.

I'm getting the impression from his handling of McTominay that OGS is out of his depth.

I've made this point before when it's come up but I think Tierney is the one who'd be more versatile of the two and probably closer in comparison to Alaba & Kimmich than Robertson.

Robbo's style of play better suits him being in wide areas and if he's said he's uncomfortable at wing back, then I can't imagine how he'd feel in CM.

Tierney on the other hand has comfortably played LB, RB, LM and the left side of a back 3 so could see him fit into the left side of a midfield 3 with the same ease

Fair point. I'd like to see either of them in the anchorman position, though.

The engine room is the most important area in a match, the reason we don't dictate matches is because our midfield is Championship standard.

He's said on Instagram that he's looking forward to playing for England again next season. He's now nailed his colours, hope he sticks with them.

Technically he can still switch back. He's allowed one more switch.

Personally I don't mind what he does.

How many of them were Scottish? And which channel was it on?
