I guess there’s no such thing as bad publicity, unless Gerrard is a complete failure.

id have thought the main priority for rangers would have been getting a good manager, as opposed to a big name.

I agree but Gerrard has been a winner all his career.  A bit of his mental toughness combined with a decent coach like McAllister would be better than any previous incumbents at Rangers in recent years.  Only in my opinion.

I wouldn’t disagree that the appointment of Gerrard would generate some interest from England and abroad.

Not sure it will necessarily be good publicity if it’s yet another Ibrox car crash, and not sure it would raise the profile of Motherwell or St Mirren in anyway.

Look at Joey Barton who has managed to spin his failed stint at Ibrox as somehow proving Scottish Football is poor rather than hI’m not being upto it. If Gerrard comes and fails it won’t be because he’s a rookie manager out his depth, it will be because it’s a tinpot league that wasn’t ready for him.

Unfortunately game is about publicity in this era.  Don't think you can compare joey barton with Steven Gerrard though.  Although Joey Barton would.

Does the manager need to be a big name?

I think this is part of Rangers problem and has been for 6 years.

They need a plan, a structure and better leadership on and off the park.

They don’t need to throw money at a big name.

Game is about opinions.  Anything that gives Scottish football a bit of publicity and raises awareness is surely a good thing.  If Gerrard (or a big name) comes to Scotland I believe the whole of us will benefit.  I would say same about all other teams.

Not sure if your at the wind up. If your not you should change your name to Rolling joints, your obviously trippin.

Do you actually watch football?  Celtic are way in front of anyone and have been for years.  Rangers sit 3 points off 2nd after being banished to bottom rung of scottish game.  I believe that is progress.  If you don't then fine.

About what?  Challenging for 2nd and getting to semi of Scottish?  And that's with a pish team and rookie youth team manager.  And Lennon in running for MOY in 4th.  Scottish fitba, you couldn't make it up.

Rangers are not that far away.  Decent big name manager and about 4 or 5 players and will challenge for title next season.  Then we can judge Mr King.  Until then we don't do walking away.

I think Murty has done OK but he had to beat Celtic in the cup for any real meaning to the season.

Instead he chose daft tactics and got his arse handed to him.

The fact that Derek McInnes keeps doing the same thing against Celtic and failing means Murty should have known better.

I'd like to see him move back to his old job but not sure he'll fancy that now.

Agree mate.  You wonder why managers canny see it.  We are all experts right enough.  Who would you like to see?

Rodgers doesn't deserve MoTY as his team has gone backwards domestically, performance wise and we're truly out classed in Europe. Not even any attempt at a valiant rearguard draw.

Clarke is a maybe as he's done phenomenally well from a terrible starting position. But he has also just about landed where you'd expect Killie in a good season.

Lennon bringing Hibs up and potentially being second is a great achievement too. His team has probably put up the most consistent fight in the games vs Celtic.

But I'd give it to Robinson for 2 Cup finals, even if they lose the Scottish Cup. His budget is tiny and he's created a solid team with real spirit. I'd say his influence has been the biggest on his team.

Murty for me.  That man has been put in a position RB that he has has tried his heart out.  An impossible position but his heart has been in it. and his head.  Should be given a job for life at Rangers IMO.  Not manager though.  Could be a success after what he has been through though at another team?

Yeah, i've no issue with anyone talking about their club's achievements.

I was just remarking on aaid's inconsistency and expressing my surprise that a Chelsea fan would care so much about Aberdeen... ;)

Or an Aberdeen fan who cares so much about Rangers?  (trolling you again!).  You deserve it for nearly closing down the board single handedly!  :spin:

I'm sorry but I hate Rangers. I loved them going bust. I grew up with endless gloating and slaggings from their fans. I'll laugh at all misfortune they have.

I'd expect the same from their fans if the roles were reversed.

Sorru that's hatred of a football team upsets you so much. And just for the record, I slag my hun pals on Scotland trips too. Are you one of these folk who hate folk taking about football on football trips?

But there is a line.  At end of day we all love our teams but hatred shouldn't hold a place in your heart.  It's healthy to have rivarly.  I don't hate England.  Or Aberdeen.

Last thing I am is "small minded". Nice of you to have a wee pop at me for no reason though. I suspect you'll not see the irony in you flinging about an unprovoked insult, whilst whinging about insults on here.

Thanks. I'm the first to admit I can come across as a condescending wanker in a debate, I'm rarely insulting though.

Got a link to that? Sounds like made up nonsense.

Banter was one of the reasons I loved going to Scotland games many years ago.  Maybe I am being idealistic.  But never in all my travels have I seen or heard Scotland fans with the nonsense that goes on here.  You wouldn't get away with it.  But anybody can post what they want  nowadays without fear nor favour.  Good things about internet forums but also bad things.  Sorry to pick on you but your affair with Rangers shines through IMO out of anyone.  Maybe why Scotland fans on this site and I have known many have left in their droves.  So much so it almost closed but the new guys here have to be commended.  They must have some patience.

In my opinion the TAMB needs to go back to what it says on the can. Too many people use it as a way of spouting hatred about other clubs and fans. Is this a Scotland thing or a medium to let small minded people the likes of yon parklife fella just spout his hatred of rangers?  When you get rid of the likes of that hatred stuff and tell them to f off and go to their own club websites this could be a place for Scotland supporters again.  I only watch it now and again and so sad to see the hatred that arises from the same folk on here.  If they were at a Scotland trip they would not have the guts to spout out.  But as WGS says 'keyboard warriors with two cans of kestrel and a whippet'.  Scotland fans my erse.
