  1. He's not decided that yet though. May well choose Australia but we don't know so until then it seems fair to discuss him.
  2. Think we keep putting our players down and then find out we've been unfair. That said, maybe the definition of a 'top half' EPL club is a bit uncertain but I can see them both thrive at Everton, Newcastle, Southampton etc.
  3. Anyone know much about Jamie Barjones at Rangers? He's 21 so not that young but played in the friendly and scored. He's not been on my radar so just reading about him.
  4. Burke starts against Barcelona. What a career that lad is having.
  5. That's exactly what I was wondering. I'm not so keen on 3 at the back as Robertson is more effective as a traditional LB, I think it takes away some of best midfielders (how do you fit McTominay, Fraser, Christie, McGinn, Armstrong and McGregor in?), and we hardly have a fantastic choice of CBs. So, can he play on the left of a two (and then who'd be on the right of CB pair????) The RB option messes with my head. I hated seeing him stop to pass the ball infield as he couldn't cross with his right. But, is Tierney hamstrung by playing out of position still a lot better than any RB?
  6. An assist for the 2nd and a hand in the first. Looked great from the highlights. I'd read that he moves from CB when defending and LB when attacking Question is, do you play Tierney... 1. Left of 2 centre backs 2. Left of a back 3 (Robertson a wing back) 3. Right back
  7. Tom English on the Sportsound podcast has said that an English Championship club he'd spoken to were interested in Dykes, more than Shankland. Felt he had more attributes.
  8. Reading it back, I think I went a bit far, sorry! ☺ I think Henderson can play in serie A though. May not be for Verona but a promoted club may look at him.
  9. a. I don't think I said "playing abroad makes you a decent player". b. As this thread is 'Scottish Players in Action' I think it's fair to report on a player's progress without suggesting we should call him up. c. I like Henderson and really want him to do well. Midfield is one area we are fine with and he's not high on the list but you never know d. It is fantastic to see Scots players representing us in the top leagues. It's good to see. e. I can keep an eye on more than one player and fingers crossed the number of Scots rising up across different leagues is great so I'm watching Gilmour, Hornby and Gauld amongst others.
  10. Red card for Liam Henderson last night. Seems that Empoli were 2-0 up and lost 4-2. Think that ends their chance of promotion. Seems to be starting every game and doing ok. Verona have done well this season so can't see him going back.
  11. An assist for Burke. Alaves are 1-0 up away at Betis.
  12. When I was reading the Southampton forum to see what they were saying about Armstrong I saw a lot of negative comments about Adams. They'd rather he was on the bench
  13. I agree. I used to think we could look at Tierney in midfield but our defence is priority. It seems criminal to lose some of what he offers but he's still the best we have there (although Palmer did a good job there last time out). I'd like to see us trying out some options with Tierney in a few roles. I know Alex Dyer recently said that there were several positions he could play.
  14. I think this comment on the Southampton forum might go a bit too far 😆...but I think it should help end the putting down of Scottish players in Scotland. I'm fed up of hearing the line, "if he was any good EPL (or top EPL) teams would putting in bids" as we have for Tierney, Forrest, McGregor and McGinn. I said recently on here that Armstrong had gone from the £8m player that we bought him for, to a £30m+ player now. I reckon you can add another £5m after tonight. His goal was really well taken. He gets better every game.
  15. To be fair to those of us who've mentioned him, it's just a simple statement that he looks to be part of a promoted championship team for a second time which, if he remains unsold, would mean another Scot in the EPL even though that may be a bit part. He has been injured a lot. Please don't spank me ☺
  16. I know domestic football talk is a no-no but you can't help but wonder what will happen to Celtic at the end of this season. There may be a few hanging on for the 10 in a row and then you wonder what Forrest, McGregor and Christie will do. Can't imagine them moving this summer.
  17. Didn't see the game, how'd he do? On the OneFootball app he was the 18th best player. It's extraordinary that we have a player playing against Real Madrid and the like and we only pick him as we're really struggling for strikers (which isn't even his best position).
  18. You'd be surprised if he left Motherwell right now, wouldn't you? Unless the offer is huge and they can't refuse he just needs time back playing.
  19. From the BBC Chelsea midfielder Gilmour (62 successful passes) is the first teenager to lead all players for successful passes in each of his first two Premier League starts since Denilson for Arsenal in March 2007
  20. I deliberately never mention Gauld. I try to not even think about him and let him come good in peace. That said, I follow his every match!
  21. I guess these are the young strikers we'd be hoping to have a breakthrough in these next two seasons: Fraser Hornby (20) RIEMS(ST) Jack Aitchison (19) CELTIC ST loan to Forest Green Dapo Mebude (18) RANGERS ST Connor Mclennan (20) ABDEEN ST Kai Kennedy (18) RANGERS ST James Scott (19) HULL ST Louis Appere (21) DUNDEE UTD ST Kieron Bowie (17) FULHAM loan to Raith ST
  22. Douglas is getting very positive reviews for his performance yesterday. https://tbrfootball.com/leeds-fans-react-on-twitter-to-barry-douglass-display-at-blackburn/amp/ I hope he gets a chance in the Premier league as this will be his 2nd promotion from the championship. Nice to have 3 Scottish left backs in the EPL!
  23. There's always a chance that another young striker will break through this season join them. Such as Appere, Hornby or Scott at Hull.
  24. You're right, apologies for that. Big difference between 19 and 20 so he's got more time than I thought. Shankland's a good call. There's also Dykes if he chooses us. I think the English Championship may well be his next step. McBurnie, Griffiths, Shankland, Dykes and Naismith. Not exactly world beaters but a growing pool to choose from.
