  1. Moreno is garbage.

Steven Fletcher's peak at club level was during the time he fell out with Levein who refused to pick him.

He had a good season at Burnley, hit double figures at Wolves and then had a great start at Sunderland where I think he scored 6 goals in his first 10 games. This was all at premier league level.

Think the big move to Sunderland diluted his ambitions though and he was more concerned with cars and stuff with his fat contracts and that's been reflected with the lack of goals on the pitch for last 3-4 years.

Used to score double figures in the premier league, now struggles to score that in the championship.

  2. Actually the GD could yet be retrievable....bit of a long shot but say a 4 nil win on Monday (I know but did score a few goals in Malta) and Slovaks lose by 3 at Wembley (not impossible as England keep plenty of clean sheets at Wembley) and it's level. Then beat them by 2-0 at Hampden and it's suddenly a +4 advantage going into the last game but you get the feeling they'd beat Malta by a few so still risky to play for a draw last game.

Just shows you bar some bonkers scorelines 7 points isn't going to be enough.

The games are all winnable, although i'm not sure if that's enough. I still think we're a better side than Slovakia, we just blew it on the night.

Don't really see how losing an away game 3-0 is blowing it more than drawing 1-1 at home to an awful Lithuania side.

12 points from Lithuania and Malta and you're in a strong position to qualify, anything less and you're struggling as Slovakia will take 12 points from those.

  4. 10 points wouldn't be enough if Slovakia get just 6 points (e.g. win just their home games so could even afford a defeat at Hampden).

Make no mistake Slovaks are clear favourites for 2nd. It's an outside shot at the very best.

  5. Can anyone explain to me this nations league stuff. I just thought it was a standard draw for euro 2020.

How's it work with rankings. Are their pots for teams? Surely a strong finish is needed in the group for that alone and be in pot 3 at least.

  6. Slovakia likely to beat Slovenia as it's a home game.

Scotland only draw and Slovakia win it's a 6 point lead. Slovakia have Malta at home last game aswell which is a banker. Their GD is miles better aswell.

Of course it's a must win. At least try to finish 3rd if you can't make 2nd to improve the ranking for future draws.

  7. Mulgrew's been great for Blackburn. Very much an inform player whatever level he's at (he should be much higher than league one).

Also takes a good free kick (scored one yesterday). Set pieces are pretty important source of goals at international level.

  8. Archer

    Martin  Berra  Mulgrew  Tierney

    M. Phillips   Armstrong Brown  Ritchie

    Naismith      Griffiths

Needs to be as much pace and power to unsettle Lithuania rather than just sterile pedestrian football hence why I put Naismith and Phillips in.

  9. Got to go with two out and out strikers surely?

Lithuania has been a jink fixture in previous campaigns. The 0-0 Levein "masterminded" at the start of the 2010 qualifiers was a massive missed opportunity. Also lost there under Vogts in one of the awful campaigns.

Walter Smith won there at the start of the 2006 group which set things up nicely for that near miss.

Win here and surely a banker 3 points v Malta would mean the last two games would mean something so really to me a defensive mindset going into this is not acceptable.

Amazed he's still at Blackburn, far too good for league one.

Barrie McKay had another good game for Forest tonight. Am I the only one on here bemused he didn't get a call up, he is the definition of an in form player.

  11. Two players I'd have liked to have seen in the squad....

Barrie McKay. Is he in the under 21s? Had a brilliant start to the season for Forest and would be in with one eye to the 2020 qualifiers.

Barry Douglas. Been great for Wolves as wing back in their 3-5-2. I know he's left footed but you could say have him as a sub and bring him on for Robertson after an hour and keep Tierney at CB. I also like the wierd route he's taken, not just gone for the money to England straight from the SPL.
