The Finland game's a weird one, it's hard to imagine any of the players busting a gut and risking injury ahead of, what could be, their only chance of playing at a major tournament 🤔

We had to play someone but aye tournament warm up games are always a bit flat.

I’m just glad we are not warming up another team to go to a tournament which has pretty much been the case for the last 26 years.

Fair points but Steve Clarke has made some errors IMO when picking the team that have already been spoken about in this thread but of course not everyone will agree

I’d rather he made mistakes in meaningless (result wise anyway) friendlies than qualifiers and Nations League games where he has done exceptionally well overall.

Clarke will ultimately be judged on his qualifying record and what we actually do at tournaments when we get there and not on bounce games against Netherlands and NI. He didn’t exactly cover himself in glory at the last tournament but he has a chance to put that right in June.

As long as he learned something in the last couple of games then those games should have some sort of benefit ahead of the Euros. If we beat Gibraltar (surely) and Finland (or at least put in a good performance) we can forget all about the March friendlies and go to Germany with the confidence we should have after our qualifying campaign.

I don’t fancy their bellend purple way top.

I actually thought our top looked decent when I saw it in action last night.

Watching the game in the local pub last night and a snotty wee fanny, with the worst hair cut ever,  sitting at the next table bragging to his pals near the end of the game , quote :  ‘’ I am getting 2 points for this. I am harvesting , harvesting ! ‘’, bringing his arms together like he is sweeping up the points. He was barely even watching the match .
After 2 large glasses of wine I really had to stop myself from pouring his pint over his ridiculous haircut.

So much for the new system making harvesting more difficult.

Has been going on for years and will continue to happen until they put something in place which completely eradicates it.

I pretty much manage to get to every away match I want to (and can afford to) without harvesting so the daft bastards are wasting money to guarantee first refusal for tickets to matches in tiny stadiums.

You should have slyly found out his name and shopped him to the SSC. 😂

A lot now very angry voices being heard and vitriol towards Clarke at the end.  People weren't happy. Yes, it's a friendly, but that's 6 without a win with a number of poor showings in those games.

Some very bizarre substitutions and decision making after a positive 60 minutes.

A positive result is a must, and that means by performance and score.

It’s 6 games without a win against England, France, Spain, Netherlands, Georgia away (where we have never won and never even took a point previously) and a decent Norway team in a dead rubber.

If it was 6 competitive games without a win against lower ranked teams then I could see the point of being concerned.

If we win our next 3 friendlies are those people who were booing last night going to suddenly think we are going to win Euro 2024 because we have beaten 2 mediocre teams and a poor one?

I’d rather be losing friendlies against top ranked teams just now than be losing games that actually matter in June.

  6. If it wasn’t a friendly last night Clarke would not have made the changes he did. We were the better team until the subs were made albeit we were losing.

On another night we could easily have scored 3 or 4 goals against a good team. If the game had finished 4-4 I don’t think anyone would have been moaning about Clarke.

If we lose on Tuesday night that will be much more of a concern  for me than a late collapse against the Dutch away from home.

A comfortable win and good performance against NI and last night’s game can be forgotten about.

This is all fine by me but I'd have preferred him coming out with this statement BEFORE he got called up by England. It would have stopped him being foolishly linked to Scotland when he so wanted only to play for England quite clearly.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68621944

He probably decided to keep quiet in case the England call up never came. Will be interesting to see what happens if he doesn’t play a competitive game for England and comes crawling to us in a few years.

I foresee Tuesday night being a riot! Get there early.

Getting into Hampden has been a farce since they brought in the automatic turnstiles. Tuesday won’t be any different but hopefully it won’t be worse.

At least there won’t be people trying to do some sort of drunk origami with A4 sized tickets they have printed off.

TBH I don't know about the Hampden app, yet... it was just a general whinge! I remain to be convinced everything on phones is easier.

When Hampden is busy getting a data signal is almost impossible. Will the app work without data?

As an example I have had a few flights and train journeys recently where at the gate the app didn't function as no data signal, (or i wouldn't pay for data roaming) and screenshots or pdfs don't work. Worst is BA as the app always crashes.

Having a paper copy of my booking saved the day.

I turned my WiFi and mobile data off and can still access my ticket for the NI game. Presumably this will still be the case when the QR codes are available on the day of the game.

I’m not saying using phones is necessarily easier but I don’t think it make things more difficult (assuming the app is stable and everything goes OK on match days).

Giving people the option to print from the app would probably have been the best solution I suppose.

except when multi factor authentication sends a text to your lost phone...

as for the environment, how much electricity is being used?

Does the app do that? Surely you get the choice of an email?

Not sure about electricity but since everyone has their face stuck in their phones constantly I don’t think it would make a difference.

Regardless of any of that the paperless tickets are here to stay so I think we just need to accept it.

Having said that there is apparently an option for anyone who doesn’t have a smartphone so I guess you could just tell the SSC you don’t have one and go down that route?

  12. 27 minutes ago, YesTA said:

Aye, you can't been a paper ticket compared to this electronic pish!

    This in spades.

Not looking forward to the inevitable technological....ehm...hiccups at Hampden on the 26th.

    I actually prefer electronic tickets.

No chance of losing them and if you are daft enough (or unlucky enough) to lose your phone you can log in someone else’s

It’s also much better for the environment if you care about that sort of thing.

I might change my mind if the app goes tits up a week on Tuesday…….

So I bought an extra ticket for a pal in the public sale (SSC members can buy 4). Transferred to my pal, he downloads the app and has tried 6 times to get a code to login in. With no success.

My other pal's 6 year old grandson doesnt have a phone (been an SSC member since birth). They had to set up an email address for him so he could get tickets. Despite the SFA saying there would be a family option in the app, no one can find it and no guidance has come out. So, do they login as the wee fella, shove him through the turnstile, log out and then back in as the adult to eventually get through to rescue the wean?

My sister has had to set up email addresses for 11 and 13 year olds (both SSC members) so that they could get their tickets.

Someone in the SFA should have thought about all these possibilities before going live.

I’m not suggesting the system is perfect but I don’t think this is an issue anyone can complain about. There can’t be many 11-13 year olds who don’t already have an email address. They are also free and easy to set up for anyone who doesn’t have one.

On first glance, neither kits really fill me with excitement although I'm one of those folks that prefers to see something in person before I purchase it or not - particulary something that will not be cheap. If decide to purchase then hope they come with the Euro 24 sleeve emblems rather than having to pay a seperate price for that to be printed on the sleeves too.

Any rough idea on what date they will be released? I know it says late March but a specific date would have been more helpful.

An extra tenner for that. Or slightly less than a tenner with the discount I suppose.

Nothing has changed between changing to the new system so why would they change some people's points totals?Would be interested in what their answer would be to that question.

Clearly it wasn’t done on purpose. Some sort of technical balls up.

Really odd that some peoples loyalty points were wrong. Surely it should have been the same process for everybody when the new system was being put in place and loyalty points were being transferred. For what reason did some peoples points totals get changed. Can't figure it out.

My points were wrong just before the sale for Euro 2020 and they hadn’t even moved to a new system then.

Couldn’t agree more, although I do believe most on this thread are genuine. A few of my group bought season tickets last time and only attended the England game, mostly folk that live outside Scotland and didn’t want to miss out on tickets for the Euros.

So preventing non-members from buying tickets and potentially getting Euros tickets ahead of other members who had attended more games? Classy guys.

Re the 100% pick up at away games, I think this is still open to abuse.

On more than one occassion recentley I've only been asked for address and postcode. No evidence other than that requested.

Must be open to someone not attending to give info to say for example a mate thereby allowing him to collect the ticket.

If full pick up is to become a regular occurence it must be made as watertight as possible, for example photographic evidence being requested in all circumstances.

As for non transferability of home tickets it doesn't make much difference to myself as I attend all of them, however given price of things today it would seem a little harsh that you can't recoup a bit of the cost if there is a genuine reason for non attendance. Re-sale platform possible? Obviously with the purchaser getting the home point as opposed to the original buyer.

Would be a bit of a risk to spend a lot of money travelling in the hope that you are not asked for ID at the pick up.

Join the supporters club to guarentee a ticket, as long as you can afford it 6 months in adavance. It really shouldnt be the case that the public sale is so close to the members one.

Of course if the SFA don't strike while the irons hot they wont sell out the later games nearer the time if things go pear shaped.

Had a look at the site to see what it was like and applied for two season tickets for me and my 16 year old.

The best available tickets option put me in the north stand and her in the west. Seriously?

Best way to sort out any points harvesting would be to make all games cash at turnstyles and photo id must be shown.

As an aside I am pretty sure the original poster is on the wind up.

This must be the biggest wind up of all?

Is stopping points for home games a good idea.

We didn't used to get them.

Why would that be a good idea? The SSC isn’t just a travel club anymore. I think members should be rewarded for going to home games as well as away games.

Away games are worth double the points and rightly so but dragging your arse along to Hampden (often from the highlands, England or even further) on a wet Tuesday night in November has to be worth something surely?

  21. 28 minutes ago, supersub said:

I think the points system works as it was intended however, I would prefer that no games drop off as opposed to only including the last 10 homes/last 10 aways.  I'd prefer any points to tally up. I've 11 points from home games (didn't go to the Poland home match) but went to many more prior to that.

Also think that the SSC service has went downhill for the past while and should be more engagement opportunities. Its been on a decline since ticket prices were compared to attending a David Guetta gig in the days of Stewart Regan.

We should also receive a breakdown of costs possibly annually to see where our membership fees are going. I feel like there is not many advantages being an SSC member and there should also have been some sort of discount when purchasing the 5 match package up front.

There has to be something which awards recent loyalty I think so moving away from points dropping off is unlikely to happen. You’d get guys who haven’t been to games for ages swooping in and hoovering up finals tickets (assuming we continue to qualify now and again) when they haven’t been to any qualifiers, potentially for several years.

The way it works at the moment is probably the fairest way to do it. It won’t suit everyone but no matter how something like this is run you can’t please everyone.

  22. What would be the point in a loyalty system if the most loyal start to get disadvantaged by being awarded fewer points than some people who barely bother their arse going to games?

The fact is that the people with the most disposable income, free time and the desire to go to away games will be able to go to as many as they like when others will not be able to do so. That is just the way life works I’m afraid.

Luckily it’s not actually that difficult to get tickets for most away games unless you have zero points and if that’s the case why are you wanting to go to an away game if you haven’t been to any games in a couple of years?

If you have enough money and time it’s pretty easy to build up your points total. If you don’t have enough money to do that then going abroad to watch Scotland play regularly probably isn’t that high on your list of priorities.

  23. 3 hours ago, rOsCo2 said:

I completely missed the fact that you have to buy individual tickets up front as well! I just assumed those would be released 2/3 weeks prior to each game SCC first, then public.

I could be wrong as I have bought the available package for the last few campaigns but I don’t think this has been the case for several years.
