  1. Injury Update on Kieran Tierney

Kieran Tierney’s thigh injury is not as bad as first feared and the defender could return in time to feature in Real Sociedad’s Champions League last-16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

The 26-year-old, who is on loan from Arsenal, sustained the injury to his left thigh during his side’s 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey quarter-final earlier this month.

That sparked suggestions of a lengthy lay-off which could have even put his participation for Scotland at Euro 2024 this summer in doubt.

However, he is only expected to miss between two and three weeks with the two-legged tie with PSG seen as a realistic target for a comeback.

Tierney has been limited to 17 appearances in all competitions this season, after suffering a hamstring injury earlier in the campaign. The issue saw him miss almost two months.

In recent seasons, Tierney has been hampered by recurring injury issues and he underwent surgery on a knee injury in April 2022.

Tierney confirmed earlier this month that he would not be ending his loan spell early to return to Arsenal.

“Several people have asked me about this but the answer is no. I am definitely staying here (in January),” he told Spanish newspaper Noticias de Gipuzkoa:

“Arsenal fans are great, they always gave me a lot of support. During the four years I was there, I will always be grateful to the fans.”

  3. And all the others are Scottish 🤔

Double Standards me thinks, when Ché Adams scored that goal against Denmark to secure that 2-0 Win, don’t tell me you’s didn’t celebrate??
It’s an argument that won’t concern any of of us!
    Only S.Clarke, H.Barnes and J.Carver can decide / resolve

But the lad is a Player and if he pulls on the Dark Blue for Scotland then that’s good enough for me and many others 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Any news on Tierney?

I read somewhere that they are waiting for the swelling to go down before they take scans of the injury to decipher the extent of the strain/tear/damage etc

Fingers crossed it’s not too bad and that he’s not rushed back, as Real Sociedad’s other LB is also injured

It's possible I'll have access to up to 4 cat 1 tickets for the scotland switzerland game that I would need to sell. 400 euros each so very steep but in case anyone is interested.

Have sent you a Msg 👍

Gauld signs contract extension with Vancouver through 2027. Looks like we may see him play for Canada at some point

It does baffle me why Gauld has never been called up for a S.Clarke squad/squads to have a proper look at him?

  7. Wasn’t sure where to post but this seemed the most likely thread

    Taken from Newcastle World ➡️

Newcastle United summer signing Harvey Barnes looks to be closing in on a return to action after providing a teasing update on social media.
Barnes, who joined from Leicester City in a deal worth £38million, has been sidelined since sustaining a toe injury during the 8-0 win at Sheffield United in September.
The winger was initially due to return in December but suffered a setback. United feared surgery might be required if the pain persisted but Barnes' latest update has offered hope that a comeback is just around the corner.
Uploading to Instagram on Thursday morning, Barnes posted a photo from the club's Benton training ground of him wearing his boots with a full battery emoji, suggesting a return is close.

  8. No further news on Kieran Tierney ?

Do we know if it’s the same hamstring that kept him out at the end of last year ??
    Fingers crossed it’s only a Grade.1 Hamstring injury ( minor )

  9. Fingers crossed it’s not too bad a Hamstring injury!
Below a quote from The National

Unlucky Scotland star Kieran Tierney is facing another spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring tear playing for Real Sociedad.
The on loan Arsenal defender missed almost two months of the La Liga season earlier this term after a hamstring injury in October.
And his injury jinx struck again after he had to go off in this week's Copa del Rey quarter final win at Celta Vigo, when he limped off six minutes before half time.
Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil revealed they are now waiting to assess his scan results to see the extent of the damage. He said: "We're going to wait for the relevant tests, but it's clear with Kieran that it's a rupture in the hamstring. "It's a shame, because we have left back Aihen Munoz out too and it's important to double up in positions because of the amount of games we're going to have to play.

I'm watching the Real Sociedad game.

    KT subbed off injured FFS

Can see it was before half-time

What does it look like to you?
    Serious or what??

We only conceded 8 goals in the qualifying campaign. Not bad going.

    Conceding 8 goals in 8 games 😳

Not sure S.Clarke and his team will be saying Not Bad?? It’s an improvement on previous campaigns possibly but I’d like us to be tighter!!

Yes when we had Robertson, Tierney and Hickey out injured.

And this is damming, when we have Robertson Tierney Hickey out of the Team. Kinda shows we don’t have that depth and strength…….

Some good news on Robertson though, the injury will have been a hinderance and something he’d have wanted to avoid but going into June hopefully he’ll be fresher than he would have been 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  12. For me, I think Che Adams gets a lot of unfair criticism on here and from Scotland fans in general. He’s not prolific but Lyndon Dykes isn’t either, both different types of front men but imo both merit inclusion for a Scotland squad as we don’t have a plethora of players to choose from ( certainly up front )

As mentioned earlier, Tommy Conway does interest me and would like to see him getting a call up - he must have caught S.Clarkes eye to merit inclusion for last summers Squad get together in June prior to Norway/Georgia fixtures, and it’s not just a clammer for calling up a young player, it’s more we don’t have any others (other than Dykes+Adams)

In the last 2 years - 2022/2023 they have collectively scored 4 goals for Scotland 3 for Dykes and 1 from Adams, everyone can rattle on that our Midfield are coming up with goals from McGinn McTominay McGregor etc etc but to add another dimension and to take Scotland up another level we need Strikers that are going to get us goals! Currently C.Adams is doing well for Southampton and L.Dykes is going through a barren spell with a honking QPR who are almost certain to go down if they get a points deduction.

McBurnie had more than his fair chance and being honest it was etched on S.Clarkes face watching him under perform for us, Brown as someone mentioned earlier does a lot of running etc but he probably needs another chance / crack of the whip as we haven’t really given him proper minutes. Shankland has done nothing wrong either imo, needs more minutes to show his worth.

There’s approx 7/8 weeks before Clarke names his next Squad, so enough time for Players to make an impression / return to fitness…….

  13. Watched some of the Bournemouth v Liverpool match, not the whole game.

R.Christie playing deeper again but I’m led to believe this is to allow Kluivert play the more advanced role. From what I saw he didn’t have a great game but the same could be said for all of the Bournemouth players……

McBurnie scores from the spot.... Does he count? Clarke dinnae fancy him... He is Scottish though ..😉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

That ship has sailed Big Ramy, S.Clarke gave him more than enough chances…….
    He doesn’t count 😉

  15. Tommy Conway in action this afternoon, can he be classed as a future striker?

He’s certainly hit the headlines in the last couple of weeks, here’s hoping he can continue this run of form + goals and give S.Clarke something to think !!

  16. It has all gone very quiet reference Scotland players and transfers ?!?

Scott McKenna needs to move by the end of the month to keep any hope of a call up, looks like the Celtic transfer speculation has gone quiet!

Che Adams at the moment staying with Southampton although being linked with Wolves + Everton but looks like he’ll be staying with Southampton as goals could be vital for a promotion push……

Lawerence Shankland transfer speculation has gone quiet somewhat, for Hearts + Scotland would be in his interest to remain with the Jambo’s IMO

Liam Cooper looks to be surplus to requirements at Leeds Utd, looks like he’ll just run the clock down and go on a free and with that a Scotland call up in March / June !!
Has had very little if any game time this season and with that possibly the chance of being brought back into the Scotland fold.

Think this is all becoming a tired argument these days. For instance the 2 starting centre halves for Spain are really French.

Barnes, Gordon, Livramento, Quansah, Steele, Anderson would all be welcome additions to the squad should they become available.

A couple of names I’m not familiar with ?

Quansah a Liverpool Centre Half I’m assuming? Had to google him, is he any good and is he on Clarkes radar??

Steele, is this the GK at Brighton? Not quite so easy to google with a fairly common name……

Every Nation is at it, doesn’t make it right & it is tired like you say but if it’s good enough for Engerland France Spain Ireland etc etc then it’s good enough for Scotland

  18. 13 hours ago, ProudScot said:

Yep Conway is playing his way into the next squad

Aye, Conway won’t even be on Southgate’s Radar !!
He must be on S.Clarkes thoughts though……

He did go to the June training camp in June last year, if he keeps this trend - then he is another that could force his way into that 23 man squad come the summer

Regularly qualifying for tournaments and not making a cunt of ourselves when we get there, I’d take that

    100% agree Dan Cake 👌

Regularly qualifying for Tournaments for me, once they pull on the dark blue 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 that’s good for me
