  1. I'd question if anyone playing at as low a level as the Championship should be in the Scotland squad, short of an injury crisis of just about inconceivable proportions. The step up to an international is vast. I guess Paterson is in on the basis of his involvement with the U21s? We can only trust that Strachan knows what he is doing, and that like MacLeod, Paterson won't be anywhere near the team for a qualifier. Previous suggestions that anyone playing in SFL 1 or 2 should be in the Scotland squad were stupid.

You're kidding yourself on if you think there's a dramatic difference between the top 2 leagues. Hearts are more than capable of being second in the SPFL.

  2. Also it is worth pointing out this is a pretty new partnership is it not? I can't recall (before this campaign) Naismith and Fletcher lining up together. Hopefully, their understanding will grow and the partnership will become potent for Scotland.

They played lots of games for u21s together.

  3. Bardsley will get ripped apart by mcgeady for pace and will lucky to see the full 90 out if he plays!

I dont like him at all,and the way he acted at sunderland should be enough to put any manager off picking him, another player that will see playing for scotland as a job!!

Born in england supports england and played for england,

And said he didnt want to play for scotland until he knew he had no chance of getting a game for england!!

Thats all i need to know about him!!

    McGeady doesn't have any pace.

  4. Don't believe what? That he's no top flight experience? There aren't more deserving candidates?

If you want me to say i don't have a dislike of Rangers you'll be waiting a while!

I don't believe your judgement isn't impaired by your hatred of Rangers.

  5. If you think that, you really are kidding yourself, or watching a different game. If he's that good, why did Villa allow him to leave, and now Crystal Palace have allowed him to leave ? They can't all be wrong, or are they talking nonsense as well ?

It's all very well him doing something good, or even outstanding, on the ball, but it's all to no avail if he then gives it away with his final touch or pass. McFadden was the same when he first played, but, with maturity, he learned when to hold onto the ball, when to go past someone, and when to pass it, and developed into the impact player that we loved. Bannan needs to do the same.

Bannan is nothing line McFadden as a player, if anything he's closer to Barry Ferguson. Are you sure you've got the right player?

  6. He's on loan at a team on the way to the third tier of English football.

I want all Scottish players to be as successful as they can be. It seems though that Bannan is not rated as a top player. He has only shown glimpses in a Scotland jersey that he is good enough. Many in front of him for a starting berth in my opinion.

Strachan knows football - it's clear you don't.

  7. I would say that a least a dozen on that list can play in central midfield, and ALL are well ahead of Scott Allan in the queue.

They are ahead in the queue currently, but queues can be jumped. Ask Callum McGregor.

  8. Which is daft.

Anya, Brown, Bryson, Burke, Snoddy, GMS, Armstrong, Bannan, Maloney, Morrison, Dorrans, Gauld, Forrest, McArthur, Russell, Adam, Boyd, Pawlett, Conway, Phillips, McGregor, McDonald, Arfield.

A sample. I'm sure we could all think of more yet who play at a higher level and who have actually done something in recent years.

Allan is a central midfielder, unlike most on your list. Talent allows queue jumping in football.

  9. Most people here were writing off Naismith a couple of seasons ago. It might take him a whole season of training and playing a few games to get back to full fitness. It took Naismith a couple of years to get to where he is now after his knee surgery. His fitness progress might be accelerated by going to a lesser club, but we don't really know the full story.

  10. Aside from injuring GMS last night with a completely unnecessary challenge, he played well.

To suggest he might get into a Scotland squad any time in the near future is a bit daft though - I could name at least 15/20 players ahead of him in the position he plays.

I suggested he'd be in the Scotland squad next season.

  11. These lower league players won't get a look in until they start playing for a big club.

Either way, he won't be in the lower leagues next season - like I say, as long as he screws the nut

  12. Hibs fans raving about him. If he keeps going and continues to screw the nut, he'll make the breakthrough to the full squad next season. And so will Lewis Macleod. Looking a few years ahead that pairing could be quite a bit better than what we have now. Add a matured Gauld to the mix and I might lose bladder control.

  13. It seemed to work for ok for ally mccoist......I too have watched Rhodes on numerous occassions and with some of the comments in here you would think that all he ever does is stand on the penalty spot swinging his leg. There is more to his game than that.

McCoist wasn't that great for Scotland. He was a good player, but not as good as Mo Johnston.
