Just got a whole lot worse. McBurnie apparently out until the end of the season.

    Injured his throat eating Lego

Gauld scored again last night, though the defending was atrocious as seems to be case a lot in MLS.

Same passing out the back goals you see every week in the fantastic EPL.

Gauld should have been tried out and capped long ago and since we wasted the last friendlies hopefully he is one of a few who get a chance in the next ones

Goalkeeper howler dropping the ball leaving a tap-in for Dykes. Every little helps though. A wee boost for him.

He’s in such a bad run of form that he needed that. Maybe go on a run now.

He needs a couple of goals or he’s position in that squad is pretty questionable

    They play totally different positions.

Fraser has been mostly awful in his 26 caps, can't cross a ball can't go past someone.

We don't play with wingers either so waste of a jersey.

Also he's on 63k a week, fuck me football is fucked 😂

It’s time for you to chill with the Fraser stuff 😂 he will be in the squad

  6. Hopefully Ralston gets some game time before now and the end of the season but it’s doubtful with Celtic title chasing.

Is Max Johnston playing? He’s probably the next in line. Time for a couple of caps in the next two friendlies to get him some experience

Nonsense, at worst he would've used him as sub.

Aye that’s what I mean. Would never have started him. Same as always

Dont think any chance Fraser will be called up, behaved like a pr1ck too many times. Would like to see a Gauld or Doak (if fit) but cannot see it. Cairney decent but showed zero interest in playing for us.

Think O'Donnell has to come in if Patterson out.

    O’Donnell 😂

  9. While the usual debate is in full swing from the usual suspects im just reading Steve Clarke is after Joe Taylor who’s a 21 year old Luton striker who’s scored a good few this year on loan to Lincoln.

    Surely a Welsh/English/Scottish who’s represented Wales previously.

Well your original point about how a 'foreign' player who was not good enough to play for Spain and chose us would be fine for our supporters and just the English-born 'rejects' that Scots object to does not add up. I see Cooper and Adams presently are warmly supported. In the past we have had the same with the likes of James Morrison, Graham Alexander, Stuart McCall and others stretching way back. I think this anti-English mindset some people (me included) have very wrongly been accused of is by some of our support gleefully pushing Gordon, Barnes, Livramento, Archie Gray and others for Scotland call-ups when they are, in fact, proud Englishmen with a burning desire to represent England and I say good on them. Play for where your heart and nationality dictates it is what international football is meant to be about. Our support hold no bias it supports and sometimes criticises some unequivocally and not based on where they may have been born.

Angus Gunn is a very proud Englishman playing for Scotland and we have warmed to him very well

    Handful of decent performances?

I think I remember 1 game where he played ok. The rest he was absolutely honking. Couldn't control or pass a ball.

There's a reason Clarke doesn't pick our only epl scoring striker. Normally we are crying out for epl strikers but mcburnie doesn't get picked. There's a reason for that.

Yep that’s exactly how I remember it too

No I meant for the Euros. Lets presume he were called up for the next round of Euros and excels who do you drop?

I guess if the squad size goes upto 26 you wouldn’t need to drop anyone.

In reality Christie plays as a deep midfielder now only in club football the same as McGregor and Gilmour so McLean has no place in the squad so by that reasoning Christie’s attacking mid spot is available or should be

  13. 49 minutes ago, Caledonian Craig said:

Attacking midfielders is our strongest area. In a like-for-like who would you drop to accommodate Ryan Gauld?

    Wouldn’t drop anyone.

Would use friendlies to try things and players out - exactly what we should have done with the last set of friendlies

  14. Dykes will never get moved aside for McBurnie, this is Clarke we are talking about.

McBurnie has also proven many times he can’t score at international level and is a very poor all round footballer when he plays - he seemed to not even be able to trap a ball or play simple passes etc when in a Scotland shirt.

The squad sizes are likely to go up to 26 now but we will always only ever play 1 uptop so he will still only pick 3 strikers in the squad, he’s just had a 26 man squad and there were only 3. The 3 will be Shankland, Adams & Dykes.

3 Scots starting in the Glasgow derby today: Taylor, Wright and Souttar. There is a pretty good chance none of them will make the final Euros squad.

I almost created a new topic about this. I really can't see why the SFA would not think a homegrown player rule would be a good idea. If the 2 richest teams in Scotland had an incentive to spend their money on Scots, then a lot of the money they generate would stay in Scotland, rather than going to other countries.

Imagine a rule existed right now. Celtic and Rangers would end up in a bidding war for Lennon Miller at the end of the season. Rangers might have made more of an effort to sign Shankland in January. Both Hearts and Motherwell would  benefit financially. They would then reinvest in developing more Scots to replace the ones they lost.

Old firm not Glasgow derby ya fanny 🤣

I'm torn between a highly techical coach from the  Netherlands or big John Hughes. That's not sarcasm, his sides play good passing football and I think he could get a real camaraderie going in a group of young players that would hopefully be continued as they progress to the full team.

Big John Hughes. That would be a very very classic us appointment.

  17. Billy Stark has retired!

Who will get the job - Peter Houston, Peter Grant or some other dinosaur/moron most likely?

I think defensively, there isn't much between the players so he prefers continuity. As long as Hendry isn't playing in the centre, I won't be too disappointed. Despite his exemplary attitude,  the inclusion of Dykes is becoming increasingly hard to justify. SOD also had a great attitude but he didn't hesitate to drop him.

He didn’t hesitate to drop SOD!?

SOD is absolutely shiter than shite and has about 30 international caps! 😂
