Denmark will hopefully have a few call offs now they have qualified. A 100% record and conceding no goals is a good incentive but it’s not as good an incentive as playing for a seeded spot in the playoffs or even the playoffs themselves if we don’t beat Moldova.

    Bring them on.

I think if we get the result we hope for and should definitely get against Moldova, then the crowd will be insane against Denmark.

A full rocking Hampden would massively help us in going for a positive result against Denmark. Especially if they know a win could get us a home game in the semis of the playoffs.

    Roll on November.

  2. Team Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts Seeding

Looking at that it does seem like we will probably need something from the Denmark game to be seeded.

#wales are on the same points as Czech Republic but have a game in hand.

I don't think he's a starter for us which is mad considering he's a starter for man utd. I guess his role in the United team can be allowed due to the other brilliant players they have but for us it's a case of mcgregor being first choice due to his ability to make us tick and play well.

Our best midfield is mcgregor Gilmour mcginn. I still think mctominays a good player and deserves chances with us but he needs to start putting in some better performances if he's going to be first pick unless it's at centre back again which I think hes done OK at tbf.

From the last couple of games it's been notable that Mctominay seems to impress in the last 20 minutes. When the opposition are tiring and making sloppy tackles he seems to skip past players and be more energetic.

To me he seems like he should be an impact player. Brought on with 20/30 minutes to go to give the midfield/defence energy against tiring legs.

More likely the return of mcburnie 😆

I'd say someone like Ross Stewart might get a call up. Quite a similar player to Dykes, even if he is at a lower level.

We also have Ryan Hardie banging them in, in league 1. Lower level but League 1 is still a higher level than Moldova.

Will be interesting to see what Clarke does. We can't go to Moldova with just Adams, Nesbitt and Fraser as a makeshift striker. That is just asking for trouble.

Human and different.....yes. But when it comes to how you feel internally there is no difference. We watch football as kids and get excited when the nation we feel aligned with scores. Livramento is no different there. He obviously had a talent for football and so he'd have been harbouring ambitions of who to play for. You'd need to be damned stupid to think that, someone born in England, brought up in England, schooled in England and representing England actually holds a hidden desire to play for Scotland. Now if he had originally represented us or there are articles out there where he speaks of wanting to play for us then I'd take that as a clue to how he feels. There is none of that at all. His life so far is following a path I'd expect of someone born and brought up in England. He wants to represent only them.

You should look up the articles and interviews on the lads of Mexican heritage and the US. It might change your mind.

Being dual national particularly if it is your parent is a hard choice and sometimes you can feel like you are both. I have to English cousins who are from the same parents. One is fiercely Scottish and the other appreciates Scotland but feels English. The one who feels Scottish actually represented England at an early age before injury. I'm sure Kilbane also went to England camps despite feeling completely Irish.

A lot of dual national players go with the easy option until they finish u21 level, then decide.

They are a GOOD side. The best minnows, IMO.

Still, this is absolutely honking from us.

Fair dues to them! Christie is a frustrating player, nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. Fraser is basically shite too, I can't see what he offers.

Yeah they aren't the side they once were and have some half decent players and a good defensive structure.

I'd say Luxembourg are probably the best of the minnows but I think they may have stepped up to the next level and are at the Lithuania, Georgia, etc level.

He has a wee brother -is he any good?  What position does he play?

Harvey Gilmour. He's 15 and at Killie. He's supposed to be pretty decent but I don't think he's at the same level as Billy. At 15 Billy was training in the Rangers first team. Harvey is above his level in the Killie u18s.

So basically he is well thought of but not at his brothers level. Chelsea are supposed to be looking at him.

I mean Harvey Gilmour is promising and could hopefully end up a very good midfielder but Billy is a once in a generation talent, that has talents you can't teach.

Wasn’t that McGinn’s first booking of the campaign?

Lots of players on a yellow now though so we could be missing a good few players for the Moldova or Denmark games if we’re not careful over the next couple of games.

I think the bookings carry over to the playoffs as well so if we are lucky enough to have secured a playoff (and we’re seeded) before the Denmark game Clarke may choose to rest a few players even though that could result in a doing for us.

If we can beat Faroes and Moldova then maybe one or two should make a few yellow card tackles late in the Moldova game.

  9. Now we just need rid of Crocker and we'll be sorted.

He's English but Clive Tyldesley has absolutely fantastic chemistry with McCoist and does a lot of research for his Comms.

Hopefully a decent young Scottish commentator comes through but all of them seem to be on BT or BBC.

Little more info. Supposing we beat the Faroes and Moldova and lose to Denmark. Thus finishing on 14pts for the purposes of the play-offs (deducting results against the 6th place team).

Group A - Portugal and Serbia will finish on more than 14pts (likely 17+)
Group B - Spain and Sweden will finish on more than 14pts (likely 16+)
Group C - Italy and Switzerland will finish on more than 14pts (likely 17+)
Group D - Ukraine/Bosnia to play each other twice a draw in either game means neither can finish above 14pts
Group E - Czech and Wales fighting for 2nd, if Belgium beat Wales, neither can finish above 14pts
    Group F - Scotland
Group G - Norway and Turkey both likely to finish on at least 14pts unless points are dropped to Montenegro
Group H - Croatia and Russia will almost certain finish above 14pts (likely 16+)
Group I - Poland or Albania to finish 2nd on more than 14th points (likely 15+)
Group J - 2nd place likely to be under 14pts unless another North Macedonia beating Germany result happens

With the projection and us on 14 points we'd likely be the 7th ranked team with only 6 places being seeded. It's all guesswork though and results are never as straightforward as going to the rankings, shows that it will be tough to get a seeding though. We still might well need something off Denmark in the final game for a seeded spot.

Eyes on groups D, E, G and J for the right results, and hope that we do what we need to do, including putting as many past the Faroes as we can to boost the GD incase it's needed as there's a reasonable chance there will be a bunch of 2nd placed teams on 14 points and it'll come down to GD.

I think we could just squeeze in with a draw against Denmark but even then it would be incredibly tight and we'd need a couple of results in our favour

We must be in a better position now for home seed.

What other results are interesting tonight ?

We are in a 6 team group so we lose our results against Moldova. Which is good as we only scored one, while we hit 4 against the Faroes.

So we are on 11 points with a 4 goal difference.

if you go to qualified teams, you'll see the table before the recent round of fixtures.  It will probably be updated tonight or tomorrow.

Think the lads who weren't great in the first half, really showed up in the second. Like a completely different team. Well done Steve Clarke👍

Patterson, Hendry, Mctominay and Dykes massively improved in that second half and put in big moments.

That would by team but I think it will be O'Donnell for Israel and Patterson will start against the Faroes. Other than that I think that will be the team for Israel.

  14. He is eligible for Portugal aswell. It seems it's his mum pushing for him to represent us.

Whatever he decides I wish him well. It isn't easy deciding who you are when you have 3 different cultures in your life.

On the note of playing time. Despite his talent he isn't very likely to get many caps if any for England. They have a ridiculous volume of RBs under the age of 23. TAA, James, Aarons, Lamperty, etc

I was wondering that myself. Kelly has probably been Scotland's best player so far, and I have been quite impressed with Burroughs too.

Slicker doesn't look like the goalkeeping superstar we've been crying out for though.

We've played okay, I think, but the Danes have created the better chances.

Technically we have some good players but it's the tactics that are the problem. We have guys who can play out and play wonderful passes but Gemmell wants them to play extremely direct.

With Slicker he has just turned 19 and it shows. He's made some decent saves but is still very much a youth keeper. He will learn from that mistake and his nervy moments. He has shown enough for me to see his potential but I don't see him making it near a Scotland squad for quite a few years.

While still quite Raw I've liked the look of Ashby at times. He's got a lot to work on especially in defence but he looks like he has a big chance of making it. We could have a very good crop of RBs in 2/3 years.
