I still fully expect posts on here calling for Clarke's head for anything from not selecting MLS players Gauld and Morgan or likes of McBurnie and England brigade players. It will happen of that I am sure.

He might have to select/ask all of them if this run of injuries continue!!!!!

  2. Okay, I'm still a little bit new to how Holyrood works and am happy to be corrected. But isn't there a degree of hypocrisy here for anyone who votes in favour of Sarwar's VONC motion, except the Tories. After all, didn't the Greens, Labour and Lib Dems all vote in favour of a lot of the contentious bills that the Scottish Government passed e.g. HCA, GRR, DRS, HPMAs etc.

This is definitely the worst injury crisis we have had going into a major tournament (World Cup or Euros). Unbelievable how many key players we have been deprived of and are carrying knocks.

At least we're not going to get carried away on a wave of completely unrealistic expectations.

The Colonialists and Quislings are circling the wagons

UK (England's) Labour's Rachel Reeves has said voting to bring down the SNP (Scottish) government and forcing an election in Scotland is the right thing to do for the people of Scotland ( English Labour)

That'll be Rachel Reeves from what Starmer has declared to be the party of English patriotism.

Love it that Ash Regan has the balance on power.  Hopefully Humza now has to come out and renounce all the gimpy deviant policy making of the greens.  The commy far left part of the party kicked out - no more gender recognition, no more drs, no more hate crime bill, and Ross Grier to pack his bags.

'No more DRS'. Whatever the faults with the Scottish Government's version of this (much of which might be attributed to the minister in charge), I see the UK Government has now postponed their version to 2027 at the earliest. Gove proposed this back in 2018, so it just shows their complete and utter incompetence or complete disregard for the environment. Probably both

King I think needs a move away from Rangers, maybe a loan. He's looked good in the last few U21s games for Scotland (including some games in holding midfield) but really needs game time.
Mullen picked up a back injury at the end of Feb which was reportedly going to keep him out for 'months'.
Morrison has been in and out of a Wigan side where Maloney seems to like rotating a bit. He signed a new contract at Bayern last summer so will be interesting to see if they loan him to a Championship team, somewhere abroad or keep him in their youth team next season.
Bowat has played regularly in the Austrian league for Hartberg who are currently 5th. Can't say I've seen him play for them for he's impressed me for U21s (when playing CB that is, Gemmill tried him at LB too and he looked very uncomfortable).
Smith is the youngest of the bunch. Very highly rated by Villa coaches but has mostly been sat on the bench during his loan spell at St Johnstone.

Thanks for the reply. I've seen a bit of them at u21 level (except Smith) and thought they've all looked pretty good but the key thing is getting regular games.

Something not quite right with Ramsay - he fully deserved his move and he has the talent to play at preston or Bolton's level.

For whatever reason not a good season for him. Also pushed down the pecking order at Liverpool with the emergence of Bradley

It was Conway, King and Fiorini who trained with the senior squad. It’s a shame of those three that Conway is the only one to go on and have a decent season minutes/performance wise.

Very early to consider someone like Jackson when there’s King, Bowat, Morrison, Mullen and Kerr Smith ahead of him in the age groups

Do you know much about those centre halves, who's more likely to make it? Morrison has played quite regularly for Wigan, so I assume he's been doing well. I noticed that Mullen hasn't played regularly for Inverness but don't know why.

I didn't see the game, but read that Luis Binks played very well against Man Utd today. He's on loan at Coventry from Bologna and has vocalised his eligibility and interest in representing Scotland in the past. Anyone see the game and how he played?

Thought he did really well when he came on, looked composed on the ball, good positional sense, made some important interventions, excellent tackle that wiped out Fernandes and left him greeting on the floor. If he can play like this week in, week out then he should be on Clarke's radar.

I'm still waiting to hear what the plan is once the SNP take a hammering at the general election

I'm more optimistic and (maybe naively) still thinking 'if' the SNP take a hammering rather than 'when'. It's a possibility but it's by no means inevitable.

Starmer is not liked, Labour are basically Tory-lite and Scots know they have let Scotland down so badly, so many times in the past. The Tories have been an absolute disaster. The Lib Dems are a non-entity, once upon a time you might vote for them if you wanted to rejoin the EU but not now.

The big challenge for the SNP is to inspire people and get the vote out, and there's obviously work to be done. The way I view it is that the GE is basically a massive opinion poll. Even if the SNP won every Scottish seat they still won't hold sway and none of their policies are ever going to be enacted by a Westminster Government but  if Unionist parties gain seats it will undoubtedly be used against the cause of Scottish independence.

  11. Plenty of time to pick up a few more injuries before the end of the season and then in the two friendlies beforehand. I'd be surprised if we don't have at least one other drop out. Really difficult for Steve Clarke.

Aberdeen gave a great account of themselves yesterday, where had that type of fight been in other games this season?

On the other hand I am once again sickened with scottish football and its referees. Its bad enough that teams have to play the old firm in a non neutral venue but to play against such terrible referees

Just focusing on Aberdeen, some of the incidents we've seen this season with the help of VAR have been jaw dropping. The final against rangers. A foul on an Aberdeen player in the box in the dying minutes - no foul despite the same VAR ref awarding rangers an identical foul against Aberdeen at Pittodrie. The recent match at livi, the sfa openly admitted yhe refs took a guess that a player was offside and now the semi final where aberdeen were denied a stone wall penalty. Yesterday's incident felt like Robertson and his team were desperately searching for a reason not to award the penalty, they found a pathetic reason for a non foul on Johnston. Nothing will be done, if that was against either side of the OF there would be outrage across the board but it's only one of the OF cannon fodder so fuck em.

I hope hearts win this cup. If they do they will no doubt babble on about 3rd force and their attendances, they're welcome to that, being the 3rd force in Scottish football is nothing to be proud of BUT a clean sweep of old firm winners is never and never should be looked at as a good thing.

It was awesome When rangers died and started again in the lower leagues, not because we all got to laugh at rangers but because other teams tasted glory and had days they will never forget. I can't remember the exact figure but I'm sure it's 9 different teams won a trophy.

Aberdeen, Celtic, Killie, St mirren, Ross County, ICT, St Johnstone and hibs.

Happy to be corrected on that list but we are now back to the OF clean sweep Zzzzzzzzz

Thought Aberdeen did really well yesterday, though that's not a lot of consolation. Thought you were really unlucky with several refereeing decisions; Celtic's first (there was an incident before where one of the Aberdeen players, possibly McGrath, was raging), possible push on MacDonald, the Miovski pen. and obviously the CCV incident.

Wonder if this will get the same coverage on TV and Radio as the Scottish Government ditching targets - not to mention cunts like Lumsden being doorstepped

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68863796

Chris Stark: Rishi Sunak has set us back, head of climate change watchdog says

Rishi Sunak has "set us back" on climate change and left the UK at risk of falling behind other countries, according to the head of a government watchdog, the Climate Change Committee.

In an exclusive interview with the BBC, Chris Stark said the prime minister had "clearly not made [climate change] as much of a priority as his predecessors".

Interesting context from the BBC who are not known for being particularly sympathetic to the SNP:

"Holyrood, parties were trying to outbid each other on how quickly the country could go, eventually settling on a pace far beyond what experts had planned for.

The Scottish Greens - who are now in government with the SNP - proposed aiming to cut emissions by a whopping 80% compared with the baseline year of 1990.

But parliament settled on 75% - still 5% more than recommended - and the Climate Change Bill was agreed by all parties except the Greens, who abstained."

Chris Stark who's the departing head of the CCC has stated that the 2030 target was unrealistic from the start. Iirc he's also said that the 2045 targets are still are liable to be met.

Rumours it’s his ACL just like Ferguson. Hopefully not but not looking good

Right, who on this board can play? I can only be used sparingly due to the arthritis on my toe joint.

Seriously bad news for Scotland and really unlucky for Armstrong.

  15. I genuinely don't know what the rules are for handball anymore. I think it would have been harsh given how close Scales(?) was to the ball. However, as poor as MacDonald's defending was, I do think there might have been a bit more analysis of Kyoto's role. Did he have both hands on MacDonald's back? Was it a push? On the other hand MacDonald didn't seem to complain maybe I'm just clutching at straws.

They don't seem to have an issue lapping up the praise from the overweight, out of condition, middle aged blokes. Or does their opinion only matter when everything is hunky dory. Lap up the praise by all means but equally accept the criticism when it is deserved.

Depends what you mean by criticism. Only reason I'd criticise someone is a lack of effort.

  17. 1 hour ago, Caledonian Craig said:

Yes its fair enough having angst and berating ref and UEFA for decisions. What I do not get is people holding things against Armstrong and other players of ours because an error cost us. The players give their all and errors happen and the players will be gutted enough. Do our players not get forgiven for a mistake?

Overweight, out of condition, middle aged blokes who couldn't run at their peak, couldn't head a ball, couldn't tackle, had no tactically awareness and couldn't make a five yard pass seem to be the worst for berating players.
