The attendance at the Northern Ireland friendly will be interesting: unattractive opponents versus still on a high from qualifying.

I think the take-up for the Nations League will depend on the draw. If we get some "glamour" ties with some big names that do well at the Euros in the summer then take-up will be healthy both home and away.  If we get Israel again, not so much.

Hadn't taken into account that we might do well at the euros😉

Man U are miles off the title.

Where they are at currently McTominay is close to their best player. He’s easily good enough for Aston Villa, Newcastle, Spurs and other clubs in and around the top 6.

Not sure were you sit in Old Trafford, but your pretty much on your own there.

Harvesting has been there, but never found it to be on the levels people think it is......

There was a period around the Euro 2008 campaign where we started getting some really silly low amount of tickets, but these were then off set some games we got well over what was required, and this did send people into a panic.

Every time the SSC have done 100% pick up's, and there has been quite a few examples over the decades, there has never been talk of 100's of unclaimed for tickets (I had a chat with someone at the SSC years ago, and they said in times like this its never more than a dozen chancers, and when they have followed up its been excuses like missed flights or something).... so its been impossible to harvest your way to a creditable amount of points, but more sneaking A point here or there over the years.

I think there might be a lot flights missed for the Northern Ireland friendly.

The nations league might be similar, it was great fun when we were playing to get a play off spot and promotion. Not sure playing Europe's elite will have the same attraction.

I think Uefa have under priced the tickets.  The correct price is the price it takes to meet demand to fill the stadium and not a seat more.

i suspect uefa could have added 50% to the ticket price and still sold out.

Could have charged more than 50% for our games and a 100 % for England games, guess the had to keep parity with other matches.

Denmark who had already qualified and could not be knocked off top.  A Scotland team that could do no better of worse than finish second.  A effective friendly.

I think I’m very realistic with where both teams and managers are in term of their relative ranking, their strengths and weaknesses.

I actually think Clarke is a very good manager, I also think that his record over the last couple of years bears comparison with Losa’s. We’ll see how good Clarke is next year when he’s managing in League A, let’s see if he does better than Losa.  We’ll see if he can perform miracles.

Let’s not forget that run of three defeats against England, Spain and France.  Most people reasonably gave Clarke a free pass because they were playing against top teams.

The only way to get better is to play better teams and to realise what you need to do to counter them.

We needed to beat Denmark to be seeded in the playoffs and the result in any competive match means something even if it is a dead rubber.

Apart from Spain, I can’t recall Steve Clarke achieving a victory against a team of note.

We did beat Denmark as well.

But we'll done for standing up for the women's team.

Not sure why but we are in danger of getting left behind, although there is more money floating about now so hopefully we can get back on track.

Great to hear he did well & he got nearly 30 minutes which is okay, it's the 5 to 10 minutes cameo which aren't much use to him. Like you say it seems to have taken the Ukrainian playing left back a while to win Dyche over & Patterson is 2 years younger than him so still has time.

Reckon as long as Everton don't sign another right back in January or next summer then Dyche does see Patterson as the future if not exactly the present.

Got 30 minutes, touched the ball 8 times and made 3 passes.

People see what they want to see.

Don't really care what that website says.

Also we need goals and a guy like Barnes offers a better chance at that.

Its pretty clear Barnes would be an improvement on our forward/winger options. Are you suggesting he wouldn't?

So you don't care that a player can't pass the ball ,lose's it a lot and cant help clear your teams lines. I take it you just watch Match of the Day to make your judgements'

He's not a forward and when did we last play a winger.

We neeed more goals ? Pretty sure we were one of the higher scoring countries in qualification if you take the diiddy out of the six team groups

  9. OK after over 200 pro games this is what who scored think of Harvey Barnes

    - Weaknesses

    Holding on to the ball
    Weak
    Passing
    Weak
    Crossing
    Weak
    Defensive contribution
    Weak

Ignoring the other weaknesses a middle of the road country like us who hope to compete with big boys needs 11 players who can contribute in defence.

Mctominay, Mcginn,Gilmour, Cairney and Brown last night all receving a lot of praise, not a bad week for Scots in the prem so far this week.

Christie was man of the match again tonight, his recent form since playing deeper has been incredible. If he can carry on putting in performances like he has  against top teams like Villa and Newcastle Clarke will have an interesting problem.

Discussion is great. Trying to get into the players heads…… even Clarke’s head. But this is international football, these kids …… and Barnes ……. shouldn’t have the choice. Forget all 4 that are currently in question. As Meagaidh says, togetherness of the group could well be affected. More from who’s not making the 23 rather than the addition of some English stankies.

I doubt if anyone other than Shankland or Brown would be upset if Gordon was picked.

    That would be some upgrade.

Angus Gunn is one I want fit and in the squad. I do remember my initial disappointment that the son of a Scotland International goalkeeper had chosen I gland.
I did not realise he has represented England at every age group since u16 . ! The guy was born in the lovely county of Norfolk. Anyhoo . They called him Angus ffs.

He did play on saturday and had a cracking game by all accounts.

Just an observation but Ryan Christie always seems to be a certain starter for Bournemouth.  He's only been a bit part player for Scotland  towards the end of this campaign.

He gave us the goal v Serbia but is he worth a start

Always liked Christie, appears to be playing as a defensive midfielder!

    Munich, Koln , Stuttgart! Nice.

not been to Munich and Stuttgart before. Really like cologne. An ancient city and the Rhine and Dom are impressive.
mates misses and myself both called drawing Germany for the opening game. Reckon they know we’re a not nasty bunch in general. Called Hungary too , my pal was getting spooked but we didn’t get Italy as I thought.
do think we’re odds on to progress.

The only bookie thats priced it up so far has us at 5/4 against to qualify and 9/1 to win the group.

I’m not so sure Ross Stewart will be the messiah some here like to make him out to be tbh.

Injured, potentially injury prone, has scored very few goals at a decent level and will be nearly 28 by the next international break.

Cant see him getting near the Euros squad.

I  don't think anyone is saying he is the next messiah, but we cant really say how good he is.

Scored more than a goal every 2 games in the first division for Suderland which any half decent forward should do.

He did score 10 goals and have 3 assists in 11 games in the championship though which is pretty impressive.

Just have to wait and see.

Lets just look at the important goals Dykes has scored for us:-

Goal in the last four minutes away to Faroe Islands to give us a much-needed win.

Goal in the dying minutes of the match against Norway in Oslo that triggered our best comeback wins in decades.

Equaliser in crunch match at home to Israel.

Pretty sure there are lots more too lets not forget his set-up for McLean's winner in Oslo and other notable link-up play.

Adams too has made important contributions such as:-

Second and clinching goal at home to Denmark that sealed our play-off spot.

Also won that crucial penalty away to Austria to give us vitally important win.

Again pretty sure he has contributed lots more.

Now the big question is why would you drop them for either untried or tried and failed options?

I've not denied their contributions and I said elsewhere that only the third striker place was up for grabs.

I didn't realise how bad their club form was until I compared it with other players.

The question was were do you draw the line. If Dykes can't get on the pitch for QPR would you still pick him?
