  1. Posting 2 hour sales slots on a Saturday afternoon is fuckwittery and bampottery that even I thought the SFA could not descend to.

I will be at Somerset Park on Saturday afternoon supporting my team.

And I'm sure numerous others on a similar points level will be following their club too on Saturday.

Admittedly the SFA haven't been dealt a good hand with this fixture, but that sales programme is inexcusable.

  2. This one's been a poor show by every authority involved - UEFA, SFA and Ukrainian FA.

That it went until a couple of weeks ago for the Ukrainian FA to confirm the venue is squarely on UEFA, however the lack of ticketing information from the SFA beyond holding e-mails less than 4 weeks from the fixture is simply not acceptable.

While it is understandable in the circumstances that the travelling support may not be the highest priority, the lack of basic information and consideration from the SFA cannot be allowed to pass without criticism. At the very least an indication as to what the likely allocation could be and accordingly the likely points requirement shouldn't have been impossible for the SFA to communicate.

Goodwill has been eroded over this fixture for sure.

Not everyone has endless amounts of time to travel round Poland , clearly you have but it’s all very well saying take a train but you do realise that involves extra time , particularly after the match ? You need to leave earlier and come back later to allow time to make flights . God only knows why our own fans seem to want to mitigate the Ukrainians being twats this should have been announced weeks back

The other factor to bear in mind is that until the venue is confirmed, the ticket allocation also remains unknown.

It is understandable if many consider it's too much of a gamble to book without certainty of venue and allocation.

I don't disagree with any of the posts on here about it being frustrating and like all on here I'm still waiting to know where to book my flights to but we are hardly gonna look good criticising a nation in the middle of a war with Putin. And god knows what their male supporters are going through in comparison to what we are complaining about. And yeah I absolutely I know and agree there really is no reason at all for them vacillating (I had to look that one up as thought it was something for piles!) as you'd imagine it it really has to be somewhere in Poland. Maybe each time they have to announce playing outside Ukraine it hurts a bit ?. Not looking to be confrontational.... just saying......

No problem with your view, but for heaven's sake they must at least be letting the SFA what the plan is, otherwise how can they (SFA) plan for the game?

Do you seriously think the SFA don't have some kind of clue where the game will be played some six weeks away?

Fair enough, but this contains no additional information for those wishing to make arrangements to attend the game.

Couldn't they at least tell us where the game WON'T be played as a start?

The League of Ireland runs from February to October, so their teams are about 2/3rds of the way through their season and are motoring along.  Scottish clubs on the other hand are generally at the end of their pre-season right now.   I’d say that that’s the main reason for why these results tend to happen.  I don’t think it’s much to do with mentality or professionalism.

I’d fully expect Motherwell to be a lot better in the return leg.

    So did I.

    That expectation went well.....................

Don't want to pee the others off here by going off topic but you mention Kaunas - what's it like ? Lucky to do Minsk and Vilnius just before the world went crazy but now have a choice of where to take my 20 year old son some place in September and was thinking of Kaunas /other Baltic states or Montenegro - I've only been to the capita of Montenegro ?  Any tips / thoughts you any one else? Likely to be one of those last father / son trips before he gets shackled !

Worked in Albania and Montenegro for 13 years. You've already nailed Albania in a previous post.

For Montenegro, Podgorica (the capital) is pleasant enough, but the real value is on the coast, namely Kotor Bay, Portonovi, Sveti Stefan, Petrovac and Ulcinje. Probably pretty much in that order. Also the road trip from Podgorica through the gorge to Koalasin - and the Tara River gorge near the national park at Durmitor.

Feel free to PM me if I can be more helpful on either Albania or Montenegro.

  8. From the tournament regulations:

Article 22 Venues and kick-off times

    22.01

By 17 January 2022, the associations must submit a list of proposed stadiums to the UEFA administration for preliminary approval for the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League.

    22.02

The host association submits the venue for each match from the corresponding list of proposed stadiums to the UEFA administration at least 120 days before the match in question.

    22.03

The UEFA administration is responsible for approving stadiums. Only when the administration has compiled the necessary information, and conducted potential stadium visits, will the final approval be given for use of the stadium in question.

    22.04

When fixing a venue, the host association must take into account the length of the journey to be undertaken by the visiting team. In principle, the venue for a match must be no more than a 90-minute bus drive from the nearest international airport with daily flights from/to other European cities.

Patterson impressed in both Europe and for Scotland hence why he got the move.

Ramsay is a good player with potential, he was part of a defence which came close to the relegation play off last season & Youd think Aberdeen have done very well to get the money they have - well done to them.

I know I'm flogging a dead horse here with you, but where exactly has Patterson impressed in Europe and for Scotland?

With Scotland he's been a defensive liability - fine going forward but not reliable under pressure.

I'll trust you to inform the debate about his impressive performances for Rangers in Europe.

Until then, to me he seems a decent prospect who is being way over promoted as a Scotland right back in the face of stiff competition (Ralston, Ramsay and your favourite bitch O'Donnell).

  10. 14 minutes ago, bigfingers said:

Yeah but Paterson played more in Europe and was already part of the Scotland set up. Ramsay hasn’t even been called up to our first team squad yet.

    Nathan Patterson isn't Carlos Alberto.

Some perspective is required - so far he has played in precisely 28 first team games for his two clubs.

Calvin Ramsay played in 39 first team games for Aberdeen.

  11. Just now, Caledonian Craig said:

Aww come on eh? Right wing-back to right-back is hardly asking the impossible. He is starting from the same position on the pitch and only difference would be more circumspect with kamikaze runs forward. Not rocket science.

    Respectfully Craig, I disagree.

There's a wheen of difference playing full back in a five to playing full back in a four.

I think Patterson will turn out to be a top class full back. A few seasons in the Premiership will be the making of him. We will hopefully have Ramsay following up soon to add depth and competition at right back.

Patterson could become a top-class full back, and I sincerely hope he does.

But to suggest he can be a defensive right back in a back four right now is nothing short of ludicrous.

  13. 12 minutes ago, Caledonian Craig said:

It is that effin stubbornness again though from Clarke.

He is so obsessed with three at the back he even played it with McTominay in the back three and Hendry out of position on the left and you could see how uncomfortable he was there. Why is he so obsessed with it? Even Hutton and Stewart pre-match picked up on it and wanted four at the back.

How are you ever going to play four at the back with a guy who won a watch playing ten games for Sevco in a five and got picked for Scotland, and then got a mega-money move to Everton where he played his 45 minutes in a five against a non-league team and STILL gets picked for Scotland???

Nathan Patterson has never played in a four at the back at top level - and there's a reason for that.

    Get serious please.

  14. Hickey got found out tonight sadly.

Never ever a right back and certainly not an international standard right back.

And with every respect to Tartan Chris, we do not have the luxury to bed in a player who is not international standard in competitive games when there is a proven 25-cap solution in the squad.

No, nobody was fined.  A number of clubs were calling for the league to be called when it was incomplete.  Dundee were last to vote.  Initially voted no, the vote was “lost”, I understand a phone call was made by the spfl (incorrect in my last post), and Dundee changed their mind and changed their vote to yes.  This caused the league to be called, Celtic given the championship despite not having won it, merely on currently being top, and hearts relegated as they happened to be last at the time the league was called.

it will go down as one of the most infamous episodes in Scottish football ever.

You forgot the most scandalous decision of all - Thistle being relegated from the Championship when one point behind their immediate rivals (QoS) and having played one less game.
