Who gives a fuck what his brother does. Hopefully tonight he doesn’t kill all our attacks down the right hand side and or perform like the Czech & Croatia games but time will tell.

With this level of encouragement from his own supporters, he may well need his brother's prayers!!!

The best piece of BS is how O'Donnell kopped the blame for the second Czech goal. He got slated for being too slow for closing down the player getting the cross in but FFS it wasn't even his flank it was Robertson's.

    First goal surely?

    Hes spoken openly about it.

Think clarke let him miss training so he could attend his ordination when he was at Killie.

Clarke originally gave O'Donnell permission to attend his brother's ordination in Rome.

However, by the time the ordination came around, Alessio was in charge and revoked the permission.

There’s a defensive narrative that people are against O’Donnell because of the club he plays for (whatever that means) or that errr.. his brother is a priest, which is news to me, however, the majority of us who don’t like him playing is purely down to the fact that he’s not that good and the difference between him playing & a wing back who’s fast and comfortable on the ball, like Patterson, is quite startling.

Patterson is fast and comfortable on the ball going forward, that's true.

The issue is his unproven reliability as a defender. It speaks volumes that his club manager does not trust him against even middling sides ahead of Tavernier. Until he gets regular games at first team level to improve his development as a defender, the Clarke will prefer O'Donnell for fixtures like Austria away.

And right now, it's the correct decision.

If that’s true then O’Donnell is a moron as well as a shite footballer.

You're entitled to your opinion on SOD as a footballer but the moron comment is needless and unwarranted.

It's the medical staff that have a serious question to answer in this instance.

Type in oeticket.com,and let me know what you think.

Wouldn't use them anyway, but especially not when the clear advice is not to travel.

Save your money, and have a few more beers in your local while watching the game. And I say that as a regular traveller to away games pre-pandemic.

  7. I wasn't being serious about Ralston. As things stand, he's not an upgrade on O'Donnell.

If Patterson doesn't get games and Ramsay continues his impressive start, then Ramsay should at least be called into the squad for Clarke to have a closer look.

I only ever used the upvote and haha, I do think humour is essential . Occasionally used the wee cup if someone helped me out but an upvote was just as useful in those situations. The other 2 emoticons were  unnecessary negatives, if you dont agree with someone have the balls to argue your case, not hide behind an emoji.

    Upvote from me.

Ok fair enough, I have never mentioned anything about Ukraine in this thread so why you would randomly bring them up is strange.

They never qualified for 2004 and 2008 euros. They had a great wc 2006 but apart from that I wouldn't say they were a top tier nation. I also don't remember them being considered a top nation around that time and it wasn't considered a massive upset that we managed to beat them. Compare that with the two France games where we really didn't expect to get anything then I would say they were not a top nation during that period.

    OK have it your way.

Ukraine were absolute non-entities and our result against them, despite their status at that time, can be discounted.

    Does that sound better?

I know they got to the World Cup QF but didn’t make Euro 08. Is that enough to be top tier material? Even we made them look ordinary at Hampden.

In the interests of balance, had a look at their record in detail:

    Including WC 2006, 2006 - 2008 all games (34)

Lost to Spain, Italy x 2 , France, Scotland and Netherlands - no other losses.

Several decent draws (Italy, France), but no victories against high ranked sides.

So in fairness, perhaps their ranking was skewed by WC 2006 performance.

Still taking it as a significant scalp for Scotland at that time though - because it was!!

I am guessing you meant this for the other thread buddy. Tbh I can see why they might of been considered by some ppl to be a top tier team but I am not sure, what was their rankings at that time? Not that I am suggesting that's the criteria, just interested.

No, fully intended for this thread.

No mistake, they were a top-tier side at the time, and not just because of Shevchenko.

To me a top tier country is Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Italy, England, Portugal, Spain, France, Netherlands, belguim(although they haven't always been) . Then there are maybe another 4 or 5 countries who go through spells where they are in the top tier. Like Croatia and Denmark are top tier right now imo.

I would say there are about 14/15 top tier nations at any given time.

Ukraine were certainly top tier material 2005 - 2008.

The D v germany was a good result. Not sure I would count Ukraine as a top side though.

They were WC QF the year before.

Damn right it was a bloody good result - even more so in the context of the composition of the group.
