Its getting more and more likely that the SNP are going to be pushing for home rule in the short term - full powers except defence and foreign policy
A good tactic i feel on the road to full indy. Pete Wishart has just posted this which i think is telling in the run up to oor Nicola taking over
(be careful reading it - it took my eyes a minute or so to adjust after it. Maybe just me)
http://petewishart.wordpress.com/2014/09/23/moving-on/
Ive also noticed a common theme from the unionists - "the majority have voted to be part of the UK which implies no change or more powers are wanted "
Labour guy said that last night and repeated by Annabel Goldie tonight

You are one of my favourite posters on here now.
(Crazy world eh ).

If it was 70% No in postal votes, then we lost by around 320,000 votes. On the day, it would've been 51% No; 49% Yes.
It was very close on the day...
Well to be pendantic maybe the postal votes were even more weighted towards No - would explain prediction before 10.30pm !

(ps Hi to Ally Bongo, very nice to meet you. )
You too Plinthy and i did miss you
We have something in common now

I dont think that it is wrong to assume that on the day of the vote more people voted Yes than No but obviously not by a huge margin. This was the impression given by those that were at the polling stations and on social media.
I struggled to therefore understand why the head of YouGov would put his reputation on the line before even half an hour had passed when the polls closed and state that he was 99% sure that No had won.
The only reason he could do this was if the almost 800,000 postal votes had been sampled - remember that No won by 400,000 votes.
It might be naive but if the postal votes were untampered and they showed a clear majority for No (say 70-30 or maybe even more) then there would have been no requirement to have any major tamporing or rigging of the ballot box votes - not that there were a few minor cases.
As most postal votes would have been from pensioners this would go hand in hand with the demographic results where over 70% of those aged 65 and above voted No
So it all makes more sense ..maybe

The part about no one here believing official Russian observers is not believable IMHO. The Shetland thing however very much is.
There's another one going about on twitter about ballot boxes being destroyed and video evidence of it exists
Im holding my breath
Others are ballot boxes leaving the polling stations unlocked and/or the polling attendants not being allowed to travel to the count destination with them ....

We'd have needed the rUK to agree in advance to any more devolution however...
Maybe not that hard

The oil and gas isn't that big a deal to the UK treasury in terms of revenue. It's only about 1% of the total revenue take. It is a big deal in terms of balance of payments deficit though but that's not a problem as long as we share the same currency.
Well played
Lets go for it

As stated on Scotland 2014 tonight the SNP may put full Independence on the backburner for the moment and push for home rule which is control over everything except defence and foreign policy
I know it's hindsight but that is what the referendum should have been about. We would have skooshed it
Then all it takes is a couple of wars which are guaranteed and we have full Independence
The crux however as always is that Westminster would still want a cut of the Oil & Gas so i cant see them giving us full control over that initially

This was the full vote in 2010
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/election2010/results/region/7.stm
63.8% turnout was quite high
Actually agree with Eddard in that it will be difficult to actually stop Labour getting a lot of seats - but not impossible.
It's likely the Lib Dems will be wiped out so it will be between Labour,& SNP with most of the 45% voting SNP. The Tory vote will likely be the same
Labour got over a million votes so not hard to see what needs to happen

Ive had to resort to buying the Scottish Sun for my daily paper - there is no other choice really. They were at least fair
What annoys me is i'm struggling to do the two speed crossword when i'm having my after work jobby
-
As has been said many times before we even think about another referendum we need to have things in place.
It's no use saying lets go again in 2020 without at least -
Broadcasting powers fully devolved and some Scottish owned newspapers offering unbiased media
Scottish Government setting up it's own bank
-
I know it's the Daily Retard, but this should help with getting people behind the SNP
Articles from 2010 are quite popular this evening - see my own thread !
-
Having any new referendum without overcoming the obstacles of this one would be pointless
The most important thing is not focusing on another referendum but having plans in place to give us a better chance of winning - currency & economy being the main hurdle
-
The article is from 2010.
I know Betty. Point is that Yes should have used it at a lot of the debates
-
Sorry
500,000 to go - 50,000 in Scotland
I work in the public service and have already been to a "building our future" event which basically said probably best if you start to make plans for something else
And yet remarkably there were still loads in my work that voted No
Madness
-
Funny Danny Alexander didnt mention this at any of the debates
Even the Daily Record reported it 4 years ago
Most will be coming after the next GE

We have to make sure that people do not buy into the "vote Labour to stop the Tories " line that will be drummed up before the next GE
-
Or... what if the England was a narrow 'out' vote but UK as a whole was 'in'. Then England would be frustrated by its pesky smaller siblings shackling it to the EU, and could ask for independence from us and EU.
As has been proven they need us for our Oil and Gas never mind the rest of our economy - wont happen
-
I am going to find it incredibly hard on Monday in work.
Agreed.
There are lots of them and i have to be careful as any animosity or indeed even sending them to coventry would lead to disciplinary action
-
Agreed, but wouldn't this also involve setting up some kind of wealth fund?
Im no expert and dont even know if its possible in our current political state but i believe so
Would really need an expert in economics to advise if it is or isnt a pipe dream
-
Like it or not it's our country too and we have a right to a say in its future.
This is true. It is not 1940s Germany. Democracy means that everyone is entitled to their different point of view
The No voters voted for Scotland not to be a country in the proper meaning and they would be respected better if they just admitted that
-
In short. We need to set up our own Central bank

I can almost guarantee you that the No voters on here did not vote that way because they thought Scotland would get more powers.
They will be the ones that Annabel Goldie referred to this evening as people that simply want to be a part of the UK and have no interest in any more powers. They probably wouldnt even bother if the Scottish Parliament was dissolved
