In Kumnio’s defence, it’s clearly an emotional post after a rough result and performance. I know I’ve muttered something similar a few times in anger but that’s why we’re just fans 😂

Not long back in the door, so havent had a chance to read back the full thread, but my reading of the game for what its worth.
It was very hot in the stadium. The sweat was running down my legs just standing there, so plenty sympathy for the players before we even kicked off as conditions were very difficult.
Felt Clarke had instructed to team to play conservatively and be disciplined in their positioning to stop Haaland getting any space to run in behind, but also to conserve energy. There was no way we could have played a high tempo in that heat. As a result we had to concede the majority of possession to them.
I didnt think our play on the transistion was as effective as it could have been with McGregor and McTominay having pretty quiet games. But I felt a lot of that was to do with the foregoing, with Hickey in particular appearing quite reluctant to bomb forward in support, leaving them outnumbered in midfield a fair bit.
The tactics worked to an extent. It was a game of few chances. They only had 5 all game and only 3 of them were on target, one being the penalty.
We had 3 chances, all 3 on target and 2 of them resulting in goals.
I felt we were always in the game and were a little better on the ball 2nd half. My one criticism was that when we did go behind it took Clarke quite a while to change it.
Felt we should have tried to chase the game a bit more at that point so I would have made the subs earlier, but Ive heard Clarke say he didnt want the game to get away from us and lose another, which could well have happened with Haaland still on the pitch.
Overall, got to give Steve Clarke a lot of credit. It may not have been the best performance, but he got the big decisions correct and we got the 3 points we needed that all but eliminate Norway.
The team continues to develop, but there is a trust and a bond forming between them the supporters and the manager that we havent experienced in a while.
Good post.
I think the 2 goals remind us how quickly a game can change and in our benefit for once.
It’s a 90 minute game, Norway definitely dropped off and I think the players sensed that.

Anyone who disagrees with me is lying to themselves and I’m the only one who is pure and honest

Whatever you do, don’t listen to Clyde one and make it a deadly combination

In case of repeated cautions:
-
in the qualifying competition, players and team officials are suspended for the next competition match after three cautions, as well as after the fifth and any subsequent caution;
-
in the final tournament, players and team officials are suspended for the next competition match after two cautions, as well as after the fourth caution.

Unless it’s 2 bookings in the groups with 5 teams?

A team that hasnt looked like scoring the whole match suddenly gets a goal through comical defending. To me thats got an element of luck to it.
Nothing wrong with it, we have been on the end of bad luck in the past so i aint complaining.
That’s the game, mistakes small and big have a part in a lot of goals.

Really? Go and rewatch it on youtube. Its a complete clusterfuck from the norwegian defence, its a complete fuck up by them that allows dykes in to finish it. Fair play to dykes though i think he does well to get through and finish it but i think even he would admit theres an element of luck there.
It also came out of no where. We hardly created a chance all match. It wasnt like we created loads of chances and then finally made a break through.
Wouldn’t say that’s luck

You saying there was no luck involved in our first goal?
Not even the slightest?
How was it lucky?

The Norway defence 😂

That was amazing. Even more so as I’d backed 2-1 Scotland. Even more even more so as I discovered after the game I’d also backed Halaand and Dykes to score anytime!! 🍺🍺
Do you have any insights into Tuesday night? 😂

Few half chances but didn’t think they looked all that dangerous, you can see why recent results haven’t been that impressive for them.
We’d still love to have the individual quality of Haaland and Odegaard but not at the expense of a balanced squad.
-
Don’t even check how he’s doing at QPR, assuming that’s who he’s playing for, long as he’s fit he’ll be in the squad and usually has a decent enough game or better.
Lovely assist for McLean as well.

Not at the moment
Be ideal to draw them soon and take 6 points

Did we deserve the win?
Never really understood this question, we scored 2 and they didn’t, course we deserved the win!

Fuk me when did i say that? All i expect is a little honesty about how we performed.
If i asked you about our performance before the first goal went in how would you have answered it?
Try and be honest.
I was raging with our performance prior to our first goal. I doubt anybody on here would say different if they were being brutally honest with themselves. We played poorly but managed to knick a couple of goals. Nothing wrong with that but just be honest about it.
No ones happier than me at the result.
Saying we managed to knick a couple of goals is a weird term, as if scoring 2 late goals is somehow less impressive than say the goals against Spain.
The second goal especially was well worked and the team sensed that Norway were vulnerable, how often would a Scotland team sit back and protect the point in that scenario instead. Or worse, not even score at all. The first goal was a good move from the back even if we needed the error.
I wasn’t happy with how we attacked for the majority of the game but that’s football sometimes.
Its a funny game, Spain could have scored a few times before half time and that game could have been a lot different.

Nope, won the first three for Euro 2008 and WC74 but never more than that.
Cyprus away after Georgia as well …. Right best not get carried away

Probably a bit harsh in some of the in game comments 😂
Forgot how hot it was as well.
Sobered up now and re watched most of it. We generally defended well as a team, obviously could have played better going forward but least we remained solid and didn’t give up.
Dykes capitalised really well on their mistake and that second goal is good enough to win any game.
How many of us have moaned when McLean has gotten a call up but showed great composure to tuck that away.Don’t think we’ve won 4 qualifiers in a row at the start of a campaign, can’t wait for Tuesday now.

Have we ever did anything like that? Incredible

We've been awful
Set up for a point and it's no worked
Aesthetically has it been much different to the infamous 460? Offered almost nothing going forward.

i didnt say we had played well. I said Robertson has ben outstanding, and he has. He has almost single handedly made any of our few opportunities and he has help avoid a worse scoreline. Dont know what game you are watching.
Not a game that any of us have been outstanding
