  1. Aye probably unfair picking out individuals in that match. Whit a team performance!

Remember a guy behind us, when King Kenny let the ball roll out for a shy, screaming "yer finished Dalglish, pack it in". Kenny received the ball from the shy and scored a beauty. Didn't feel a bit of sympathy for the guy who gave out the abuse when he was bombarded with a severe slagging.

  2. As a teenager watching Davie Cooper, Bobby Russell and Tom Boyd playing down the left at Fir Park was as good as football got for me.

Cooper also involved in the best Scotland performance I've seen versus Spain 1984. He was the best Scottish player imo.

  3. I can recall Tommy McClean spending alot of money on Brian Martin ( £250,000) which must have been a record breaking signing for Motherwell at the time. When big Brian came on for his debut, I certainly thought " what a waste of money", only to be proven wrong as he turned out to be one of the best players ever to have graced the Fir Park pitch.

Think we were all stunned when Big Buff signed.

McLean built two great teams at Well. Coming up to the cup winning team along with Bobby Russell and Nick Cusack. Then a few years later with the likes of Seib Dykstra, Rab Mckinnon, Brian Martin, Paul Lambert, Tommy Coyne, etc. Happy Days.

You can tell when Motherwell are having a stinker of a season we all start reminiscing :)

  4. McLiesh went to Holland to look at a striker and came back with a centre half, Mitchell van der Gaag, who was crocked. He did turn out to be McLieshs best signing. Big Alex had more to spend in one season than Tommy McLean got in ten, the then chairman splashed out the cash to piss off McLean for leaving.

McLiesh spent £100k on Andy Roddie but worse than that and I'm sorry for reminding Well fans he spent £200k on John Henry who shortly afterwards moved to Fort William where he struggled to get a game.

  5. There were plenty... Thousands even, perhaps hundreds of thousands of working class who voted No with no connection to the Orange Order. To believe otherwise is extremely Naive.

There are also thousands of people with no connection to the Orange Order who go to see their parades each year and thousands who don't but are still very bigoted and most probably sadly voted No for bigoted reasons. Always surprised how some people underestimate the amount of bigots there are amongst us.
  6. Agree with OP. If we didn't have such a battle of a game on the Friday it would have been different. Maybe the boss showed a bit too much loyalty to the guys that done so well at the weekend, difficult decision right enough. Bit of inexperience by Robertson not going behind Hanley to cover him for 1st and he was unlucky for the pinball 2nd goal. Mulgrews unnecessary tackle where the second goal came from and him aimlessly jogging around in the box for their 3rd I'll put down to tiredness seeing I'm feeling kind.

Think England would be in a similar position points wise if they were in our group and would probably be happy with it.

  7. That doesn't matter - we were told it wasn't even an option but it is. That is enough to react to

I know that, you know that but if there's one thing we've learned from the referendum it's this. If the Clyde gets the contract the media will twist the SNP's comments as reactionary scaremongering.

Alex Salmond has written to Cameron for an explanation if he dithers at all in his reply then the shit can really start to fly.

  8. Success - How was parading your second place trophy around the Cash Converters Stadium?

You don't get a trophy for finishing second in the league in Scotland as far as I'm aware and there isn't a stadium in Scotland called the Cash Converters Stadium. Your lack of Scottish football knowledge is rather disappointing to say the least.

Oh and well done Dons in doing Motherwell a favour last night x

  9. His record at Well is incredible, especially rebuilding the team so much. My only worry was goals against column even when we had decent players in defence over last few seasons it was always one of the worst in the league considering where we finished but the goals were going in. Not now though and that's been the difference.

And as for some Dons fans on here, aw bless it's been such a long time since the 80's the recent Motherwell success must be difficult for you ;)

  10. Didn't sing, couldn't sing. Watched the game as if I was watching devronvale v Nairn. Didn't feel a bit of joy at the goal or the result. I want to go back to how I felt pre 18/09

If you can't cheer a Scotland win why go back?

You don't understand where Flumax is coming from? Really?
  11. Get a grip mahn!Exactly!.... feeling sorry for yourself and haverin about singing or not is pyoor x-factor-esque camera's-on-me fake emotion pish... lets get on with it. Deal with it, we lost and need to try and get another chance asap. In the meantime lets watch a scotland team that can make us happy.

Fair do's regarding most of your post mate but to describe it as fake emotion is utter nonsense.
  12. Heading to Ibrox tomorrow with the boy, as I have done for years now, however despite a cracking team in Scotland colours I can't ever remember ever having felt so downbeat about the match. After the Referendum I'm still crushed and to be honest a bit embarrassed about being "Scottish".....whatever the f*ck that means nowadays. The Poland away trip was a possibility but that's been ditched for a family holiday, the England home match is a definite non-starter due to listening to 90 mins of laughter coming from their fans....oh, and the ticket prices. Ah'm scunnered, p*ssed off and probably depressed................

Think you've probably summed up the feelings of many mate. Trying to be positive. A couple of crumbs of comfort - I'm heading to a YES city to see Scotland play from a YES county, North Lanarkshire :).... but while I'm think about it..how the f##k can so many people living in the shadow of the Wallace Monument vote feckin No ffs...sorry am off on one again... positive.. positive.
