Firstly, I'm hoping there's not some kind of underground fans community that's condoning these actions and conspiring to make them happen, given how many similar incidents we've seen recently.

There is. There is a (secret) Facebook page and also a Whats App chat group. You have to know someone in the FB group, or have been on a pitch to get accepted in. I was on the pitch at Love Street in 1986 but that was BC (before cameras) but thankfully my pictures of me on the pitch in Oslo after the 2-1 win got me in. It was actually quite a bit after the game and we were walking round the stadium and saw an open tunnel. We went down it and got some pics on the pitch. No police to huckle us off, the biggest worry was getting locked in the stadium.

The group has now changed from just people going on the pitch to dares, bets and incentives when they do go on. The Hibs lad at the weekend was offered a weekend in a 4 berth caravan at Seton Sands and full use of site facilities as well as a £30 Domino's credit to "nutmeg a Rangers player". I think that is why he was so angry with Tavernier as he was so close to megging him but just missed out.

Kevin from Gloucester took up the challenge set down at the Villa game. Grealish isn't well liked by the Birmingham fans who regard him as a bit of a carthorse. The challenge was to jump on Grealish's back and shout "C'mon Donkey, we have to rescue Fiona" in a Shrek like voice to win an all-inclusive night in the Bullring. Quite a difficult challenge for a Brummy IMO, putting on a Shrek voice. When he punched him the group chat on WA went mental, my phone almost melted it go so many messages. He must have had a rush of blood to the head and thought Grealish was Lord Farquaad. Similar hairstyles I suppose.

Think the FB page is going to be closed now in case Kevin grasses on it, too much hassle from the feds. WA chat has already gone but I heard rumours yesterday of a new one, even more extreme, involving fancy dress or nakedness and has to involve corner flags. I don't want any part of that. Fancy dress FFS.

Ohh and the Arsenal one was nothing to do with the group. Have a feeling the lad on the pitch there snuck in and pretended to be a ball boy as he was about 4ft 8" so would get on pitch easily enough.

    Cheers

The pub on Waverley bridge is a Weatherspoons I'm sure, so doubt they'll have it. Any idea the name of this sports bar my mate was talking about?

As DTS says, Sportsers right out the back of Waverley is now Brewhemia and definitely not a football bar. Belushi's is your best shout. Bills itself as a sports bar, right at start of Market St, probably about 100 yards from where bus stops.

And again if I was told I had to go now I’d go. Now nobody knows if this was indeed the he case but if it was I don’t blame him. Maybe I’m a snake too. 😂

I am sure the Times had a story the day after he left saying that Leicester were willing to wait until the summer. How true that is I have no idea.

I agree the salary he will be getting now and the money he seems to have been promised to spend would make it very hard for anyone to turn down.

Right, who do we think he'll try and take from Celtic for Leicester ?

Kieran Tierney, Tom Rogic, Ryan Christie, Odsonne Édouard, James Forrest, Callum McGregor, Kristoffer Ajer ?????

Anyone also think he might take a chance on signing Alfredo Morelos from Rangers ?

He's already got an England squad left back in Chilwell so I can't see him moving for Tierney.

Big Tom is made of chocolate so doubt he will go for him. He's also got a cracking "10" in Maddison.

    Christie - no.

Edouard - he's supposedly targetting Wilson from Bournemouth. For £40m.

    McGregor might interest him.

Don't think he would go for Forrest.

He is also supposedly wanting to start Benkovic at CB next season.

Done that in 2005, as a favour to a boy over from Ireland, when Beattie scored an injury time winner. Had to invade the park or get my cunt kicked in.

Held by the police until all the CSC busses had fucked off and had to get a train home from Haymarket surrounded by diet Huns who recognised me. Never ever again.

Did it in the Centenary season. A win at Hearts would clinch the league. Couldn't get Celtic end tickets so got Hearts tickets instead. Lots of Celtic fans in the Hearts end which saw a lot of fighting even before kick off. Me and my mate stayed quiet. Hearts went 2-0 up then Mark McGhee scored midway through second half. Left at that point to go around Celtic end as was a horrible atmosphere. Thankfully stayed 2-1 and 70,000 saw us beat Dundee 3-0 the next again weekend in the safety of Parkhead. Would never do it again.

Had done the same couple of weeks previous at Easter Road. Centre stand. Everyone quite quiet with it being the Hibs end. Peter Grant scored and practically the whole centre stand went up bar about 2 Hibees sitting near us. The look on their faces!

  6. Surprised that he has moved at current time, on verge of potential treble treble. Leicester are in no danger of going down so I thought they might have went for an interim until end of season.

Not keen on another 2 1/2 years of Lennon's antics to be honest but if he lands the league and cup then its hard to see how he doesn't get the job.

Let's be honest, if Hayes played lb and we lost the game then people would be screaming that we should have played a natural left back there rather than a guy who's been a pretty shite signing so far.

Brown has been playing well since the turn of the year, so again, there would have been loads saying why drop the captain for our biggest game of the season. Our insistence to fanny around at the back, with the keeper being asked to play little triangles with the two centre backs time and time again was our problem, along with the midfield forgetting how to complete passes and needlessly giving the ball away.

It won't happen under Rodgers but we need to start bullying these superior sides when they come to CP rather than trying to play against them. Get some big mental bastards in at the back and lump the fucking ball up to strong strikers who can hold the ball up and knock headers on like we did under MON. I realise we'll never have that type of budget/quality again but we can at least have a plan b once in a while. We'll never compete against better teams otherwise

You are bang on with first 2 paragraphs. Brown also has some ridiculous pass completion success rate in European football so when you are wanting to keep the ball then it would make sense to play him. The fact he probably destroyed that stat in the first 45 mins last night couldn’t have been forecast beforehand. Add in you are never going to drop your captain in a game like that.

Re Burke/Edouard, I’m still not a Burke fan and he had a touch of the headless chickens as well as Lukaku’s first touch last night but, again, he’s just destroyed St Johnstone 4 days previous, it would have been v harsh to drop him after that performance for a player who’s fitness levels are still largely unknown.

The only debate last night in that line up was Izzy v Hayes, I doubt either playing in place of the other would have made any difference. We didn’t lose due to which pish LB option played, we lost because we couldn’t create anything or keep the ball comforably when we had it.

Serious question, why would we be doomed? I've now watched the incident quite a few times and I think it's a 50-50 on Morelos red.

McKenna's is a stick on red card. Retaliation and blatent at that.

Morelos definitely thinks about sticking the boot in but he just doesn't follow through on the intention. Now intent can get you sent off but I'd say there's a decent chance it could get sold as lifting his boot to avoid standing on McKenna. It's not corrupt, it's using the situation to sell your defence. I think it'll be downgraded to yellow.

I thought they both had a go at each other. What contact there was from either player is debatable. At first glance I thought Morelos stamped on McKenna but hardly to tell on replays how much contact was actually made.

IMO it would be difficult to rescind one and not the other.

Whats your problem Dalgety apart from just being a fucking dick. I'll explain it once again since you seem to be a bit thick. No manager is going to tell a team or the players  to lose a  game ..but plenty of chairmen would have made it clear to a manager and consequently the manager would give the impression to the players that he wasn't that concerned. Now give it a rest with  your stupid smart arse comments

You either have a split personality or you have an inability to read what you have written. I even quoted the exact line for you where YOU said teams are being told to deliberately lose games. So, no I’m not the one being thick, I’m just picking you up on your ludicrous suggestion.

I’m also guessing you are the sort who is happy to call someone a fucking dick while sat at your keyboard but wouldn’t be so mouthy in real life. Met your type before.

You must be a bit wet behind the ears.  It might not come as a straightforward lose the game but many chairmen are solely concentrating on revenue (ie league position) and will make sure a manager knows where the priorities lie. Of course there are other teams that take it seriously and will benefit. The result of all this is that the best games take place before the third round.

No, I’m not wet behind the ears. Of course your second attempt is much more likely to happen, chairmen want to ensure managers are aware the league is first priority. But that’s a mile away from your ludicrous suggestion that teams are told to deliberately lose.

  11. 20 hours ago, irnbruman said:

No doubt chairmen are instructing managers to deliberately lose matches. All that matters is maximising the TV money coming in.

Utter utter shite. You think a chairman goes off to a manager/players and says “Lose this game”? FFS.

I will defend it a bit. Yes too many teams use it for squad rotation but a few of those that do so have got their comeuppance in doing so. If you end up with say a Bristol City or a Portsmouth getting kind draws, possible considering how many PL teams are out, and they make it through next 2 rounds then they are one game from final. Games that the fans would remember for many years to come but no one will ever say to them “Aye but remember Watford made 11 changes in a game in 4th round....” in 10 years time.

Teams that’s use it for squad rotation are cheating their fans...but for every team who falls into that category there is another team and fans who will benefit.

The light aircraft he was travelling in to sign for the club went down in the English channel.

    https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/emiliano-sala-missing-plane-live-13890265

He looks like a nice lad.

Personally I think Cardiff City have a lot to answer for. Why wasn't he on a private jet? Why not even a commercial airline?

They're in the EPL, they can't afford an Easyjet ticket?

He had already signed for them, at the weekend. He was there player. This was him arriving to begin playing with them after tying up his loose ends at Nantes.

Im not an aviation expert but is there much difference between the plane he was travelling on and a private jet? I don’t know myself.

I would imagine he wasn’t going commercially as I doubt there are many direct flights from Nantes to Cardiff, this was probably the most direct option of getting there. And would no doubt be far dearer than an EasyJet ticket.
