I'm sure it's just a moment and it will pass. I have the cringe big time and I had never had it until the 19th of September. Everytime I see a Saltire, I am reminded that we are not a country. Or if you've ever seen Pointless, the best definition of one is as Richard Osman says "A country as being recognised by the United Nations as a sovereign state" (or there abouts). I respect the outcome and I will come around, but I just can't bare especially seeing the Ryder Cup with Scotland plastered everywhere, nothing of Britain or anything. My local authority flies the Saltire and since we voted no - I really feel like they should but the UJ up. Can't understand this hybrid, for some they thrive on it and enjoy the 'best of both worlds'. I just don't get it. How can we have a football team? Yet if that footballer was also good at Swimming, represent GB? If Galicia invented football, maybe they would be allowed to play international games as a nation, but if that same footballer was a swimmer, it would be Spain. When in reality, Galicia are far more autonomous than us. It's almost due to fate of being involved at the beginning in the games of golf, rugby, football that we play as a nation. A no voting guy I know. A proud Scot, goes to all the games - asked me about England and I said I was happy they beat Switzerland recently as I quite like Hodgson as a person. He then went on a 10 minute rant about English football being rubbish, he is A.B.E and so on, yet voted no and is quite happy being British, yet hates the English football team. I can't understand this. How can we say ''this country'' and it could refer to either Britain, or Scotland? We really like to have our cake and eat it. Anyhoos, fair dues to them and you,if you belivein that, I was just hoping someone else was feeling this reverse cringe, and I'm sure I'll be back, but right now I just cannot stop looking at that flag and cringing or saying ''FFS''. I don't believe the world is laughing as some may say, it's more bemused, many of them thinking how can you claim pride in your culture and so on, and so many of them had to fight wars for their independence, we had the chance and rejected it.
