  1. Rio Ferdinand last night said English full backs couldn't create chances as the Scottish full backs "didn't go forward" - aye alright then. Andy Robertson really famous for never getting into the opposition half and he must have missed O'Donnell's shot and numerous crosses. Not to mention one, and sometimes two, of our centre backs were striding out with the ball regularly.

Surely they should be praising the teams fluidity rather than making it sound like we sat in with 5 at the back for 90mins.

Thought we played pretty well last night, however would not have dykes anywhere near a starting place, he isn’t of the quality required at this level .

he looked like he was hauling a tow truck at times last night and he isn’t any better than mcburnie to be honest .

I actually thought he did ok. Couple of times he got the ball on the half way line as we were looking to break and he was able to hold the ball under pressure and find a pass. Also did the same in the Serbia game where Robbo blazed it over the bar. I think his calm head adds a lot but physically Adams is better. Would have loved to see them both.

  3. Marshall

    Cooper    Gallagher    Considine(I know!)

    Palmer                                                                   Robbo
    Jack
    Armstrong                     McGinn

    Christie

    Dykes

Tough one this. Thought about McTomminay and Jack in fron to the back 3 but doesn't leave much of an attacking threat. If I was to put him in a back 3 then he could replace any of my other choices, not much between them.

Griffiths will come off the bench no doubt. Wouldn't have MacGregor anywhere near starting. Tierney and Robbo don't work for me. Let Christie shoot from anywhere he wants and let Robbo get forward to provide for Dykes with Jack covering.

    I'm scared...

  5. Delaying the Euros might actually be good for us, especially if they delay the play-offs. Let our younger players develop over the next year and we'd stand a better chance. Please let us unearth a quality striker in that time...  Griffiths seems to only screw the nut for short periods of time.

Is it “free advertising” though? You might not be getting paid, but your club is. Isn’t that kinda the point? The sponsor pays the club big bucks (according to level of exposure which would include shirt sales not just the players wearing them in games, on TV, etc and the fact that you might wear it out and about) in exchange for that exposure?

Yeah that was my point to the original post about it. "They'll be paying the SFA." "Obviously the size of that team's fan base and level of TV coverage dictates how much it costs a company to get their name on the shirt."

    I'm on your side.

BT should be supplying free merchandise and paying us to wear them regularly as we would be promoting their product.

Why should we give them free advertising?

They'll be paying the SFA. I assume by "we" you mean the fans, if that's the case then you surely think all football tops bought by supporters are free advertising for that company. Obviously the size of that team's fan base and level of TV coverage dictates how much it costs a company to get their name on the shirt.

Same, I’ve got tickets for that game, but will hopefully be going to Wembley that day...

If we don’t qualify, it’s probably the best of the 3 hampden group games.

Yup, I was kind of pleased that I got that game until I realised we're still in with a shout of qualifying (on paper). Shows how confident I am.

I don’t think we’ll be any worse at penalties than any of the teams we’ll play. It would be a lottery though and would be a horrible way to go out.

Probably right. I'd also say that Scotland's problem is not quality players (apart from CBs) it's playing as a team unit but we have good individuals. Penalties would probably suit us on paper.

I'd happily see Naismith, McGinn, McGregor, Fraser, Robertson, Forrest, Tierney,  hit them. Shouldn't get further than that.

  10. Haven't seen this anywhere on the forum yet. But, wouldn't it be soooooo Scotland to draw nil nil in the semi and lose a penalty shootout?

As it's a single leg I'm assuming we got to ET then pens.

Would you fancy our chances in a shoot out?

  11. Draw on 22nd Nov is to decide who will be the home team in the play off final. i.e, "winner of semi 1 plays winner of semi 2" etc.

We're likely, maybe certain to be, at home for our semi which given our away record is an advantage. We' really nee a home draw for the final as I can't see us winning a do or die game away from home against a team of any sort of ability.

He has played 11 games in the league for Ross County and scored 4 goals. Not bad for a 23 y/o who has probably a few assists as well. Name me a better option to bring a physical presence / aerial threat to the squad.

Alright Ross. We know that's you!

    Why not?

There's players I'd rather see in the team above him. Mostly been anonymous in a Scotland shirt recently, playing OK for Celtic but he's gone through his purple patch. Not a Forrest hater.
