Aye, there's always one of them with their arms out-stretched. 😂

And neither the police nor the stewards intervened, amazing.

    He must be at it.

I've never not seen a few in the away section with their arms outstretched.

Mostly agree, the Dezmondo post must be a joke…… going into the ground we were subjected to a group of them singing ‘no surrender’ ‘up to their knees’ . The point is most of us are not offended or bothered by opposing fans chants, but the vile hate that they spout I do get bothered about as it has no place in our society present day….as i said previously anybody defending that shit probably has their leanings.

Some of the people commenting on this forum probably don’t go to matches at home let alone abroad- every single foreign national anthem is applauded by Scotland fans genuinely, except one.

I am nearly 66 & spent my whole life following Scotland everywhere & I am proud to be part of the TA, I behave with a welcoming cordial genial demeanour when in contact with opposing fans & so do the vast majority of the TA, I will make one exception where I have been attacked & spat on-on more than one occasion, (even once when I had my daughter & grandson with me) by the englunders for no apparent reason other than I had the kilt on. Not once have I have encountered such an issue elsewhere or with other opposition fans at Hampden.

i repeat anybody defending NI fans & for that matter engerlunders is for the ignorant

So you are saying the Northern Irish supporters were singing up to their knees in f***** blood at an international?

Surely you've misheard. I cannot see that being the case.

Yes and That analogy sums them up as Celtic and Rangers are renowned for the poison they bring to matches with bigotted and confrontational chants in a bid to solely aggravate people.

That sums up their support perfectly. They were more interested in aggravating. Their interest on the pitch was and is minimal given how much hope there is to be excited about on the pitch.

    What chants were aggravating:-

Everywhere they go Scotland get battered....confrontational

    John McGinn what a w***er what a w***er....confrontational

Something along lines of Euros your having a laugh.....confrontational

Lots more today before we even get into the Rule Brittania and Dambusters pish. Wtf that has to do with Northern Ireland god knows.

They done a lot of singing but right now I cannot thing of one chant about their players or team even after they scored.

Detestable tossers. Worst bunch of nobody and no-hoper supporters to grace Hampden.

I'm not sure football matches are for you if your offended by any of that.

  4. This will be irony from me after some of the things I’ve said about Clarke but people upset at that are over reacting.

it was probably a blessing the way that panned out because there will be major lessons to learn in time for the tournament.

I think we can look at the positives from tonight and take that forward.

  5. Do UEFA hold tickets back to allow fans of play off winners to get some tickets?

I’m in Cologne for a couple of days either side of our game against Switzerland and fancy going to Dortmund to watch Turkey vs Greece (potentially) so hoping some tickets have been held back for play off winners.

  6. It looks to me as if Pot 3 is harder than pot 2, so we might want to throw the last game for a potentially easier draw.

In my opinion pot 2 will be:

Hungary, Denmark, Albania, Turkey, Switzerland and Austria (if we lose any of our next 2 games).

    pot 3 will be:

Us (if we lose 1 of next 2), Holland, Serbia, Italy, Croatia and Czech Republic.

I am now hoping we do end up in pot 3 as I'd fancy our chances against most of the pot 3 teams.

  7. The truth is England and especially Bellingham are top tier and if we use that as motivation to improve it will do us the world of good. I think it was a friendly and result that came at the right time for us, before the final three games in the group, euros, and Nations League A games.

we should take a lot from that tonight.

  8. I think the top seeds are Germany + 5 best top spot qualifiers.

2nd seeds are remaining 5 top spot qualifiers, + best 2nd placed qualifier.

Therefore, if we don’t win the group we need to hope we are best 2nd place. At this point I think 18 points probably gets you close to that.

We are hoping Holland, and Italy lose at least 1 game between now and the end as I think the rest (Austria/Belgium, Slovakia, Finland, and Croatia) will take care of itself as there will be points dropped throughout the course of qualification by these countries.

  9. What is certainly going to be different is the pressure aspect. Both previous visits were pressure games and we couldn't cope.

This time we could be going there having already qualified, and the only pressure is trying to get as much points on the board to be pot 1 or pot 2. Georgia were miles off it on Tuesday but they are a far better team than they showed and it will be difficult away from home against them. It will be a good test for us.

  10. Yeah as mentioned above, it is very possible we could have qualification confirmed in the dying minutes of injury time in our friendly vs England on 12th September. We need to beat Cyprus and hope Spain beat Georgia on the 8th September. Then while we are playing v England hope that Norway and Georgia draw.

I think thats a bit of an exaggeration. Gordon not being great at passing is the least of our problems. The whole team couldnt string a few passes together in the first half. We looked dire. The goal kicked us into to life and it imroved a bit but tonight was poor overall.

We weren’t great but I disagree when you say it’s the least of our problems. You can’t afford to give up possession as much as he did particularly in the first half. If we want to go to Norway and Georgia and look for a win then we need to be able to relieve pressure by going back to the goal keeper and not expect it to be lumped straight to the opposition. Some of his kicking was landing in our own third and putting us under real pressure. He just needs to take a touch and wait for some movement from our defenders.

  12. Ramsey was decent.

said after the Denmark game at hampden that if we want to move forward as a footballing nation, we need to get a goal keeper that can keep possession. Gordon must have gave the ball away about 30 times under no real pressure.

Unpopular opinion incoming but here goes .....

Should we play our home tie against Cyprus at Pittodrie or Easter Road ?

Have we not just won something like 6 competitive games in a row at Hampden, why would we want to make a change on a run like this?

edit: Ukraine in June sandwiched in between 3 wins in wc qualifiers and 3 wins in the nations league.

  14. The bigger nations are using the nations league to experiment somewhat ahead of the World Cup.

i would much rather be Holland than England or France right enough.

I don't understand what you mean by that bit I have put in bold? What does "3 No 2nd" mean?

If the direct EURO qualifiers are as you suggest (i.e. all the pot 1 and pot 2 teams plus Germany) then I think it goes like this.

The first play off route is allocated to League C.

That would be all four League C group winners.

The League B play off route would be contested by the 4 highest ranked League B teams who have not already qualified. In your scenario that would be the teams ranked 6 to 9 in League B.

If there are no League A teams to contest the League A play off, then the first spot in that play off route goes to the highest ranked League D team (I think Estonia have already got that sewn up). The other 3 places would go to the teams ranked 10 to 12 in League B.

That is my understanding of it anyway. Could be wrong though?

I just meant the remaining 3 runners up in the B groups (there is 4 but in my example I have assumed the best runner up has qualified through the groups as they are a pot 2 team).

You could be right on group D winners, I think we are saying the same thing apart from this.

  16. It is quite confusing because the Euro qualifying is still to take place and until it does, we don't know who is going to need a play off.

For ease of thinking lets assume the following qualify through the actual qualification groups:

    Germany (Host Nation)

Other 15 A Group Participants (In pot 1 and 2)

5 Group B Participants (Group Winners and Best Runner Up (all in pot 2).

This means the 12 play off positions would be taken by the following:

3 No 2nd placed finishers from Nations League B Groups

4 No 3rd placed finishers from Nations League B Groups

1 No Best 4th Placed finisher

4 No Winners of Nations League C Groups.

This is my understanding of how it would work. Obviously not everyone in pot 1 and 2 will qualify through the qualification groups but who ever doesn't would take a play off spot (there wont be many who don't qualify through the groups).

In B3 if both games are draws then that will also do us. Still relying on Bosnia going away to Romania and not losing who have nothing to play for as they guaranteed to win group.

In B4 Sweden are at home to Slovenia with both teams trying to not get relegated. We need Slovenia to take at least a point.

Think the best chance we have is Armenia winning in Ireland. Although that is a long shot.

I reckon its a point on tuesday or bust.

Although still reckon we would get at least a playoff place as I would back Ukraine to qualify automatically if they were seeded 2nd. That would probably be against Bosnia, Israel and 1 other team from group B4.

I agree, think we must do it ourselves as can’t see Armenia winning or Sweden not winning.

if we end up in pot 2 we could get a group of…

    poland

    scotland

    armenia

    faroes

    gibraltar

    Sam marino
