Brown had a couple of excellent years for Scotland, I think injuries have caught up with him though and his best days are behind him for me.As much as I like Broonie, his form has dipped.
not the player he was at international level.
Can he get back to his best? Debatable.
Whereas I think Darren Fletcher has come back with a freshness from his long lay off.
His club form certainly suggests as much.
Whether Strachan will drop Brown is another question though.
-
I still think Darren Fletcher is our best available player and probably should have been more involved last campaign.
Agree 100%, at international level keeping possession is vital, he's the best we have at that.
-
He's definitely good enough.Times change mate. We need a good centre half. There's one willing to play for us.
When did he say he was willing to play for us?
-
Aye, going at 40 quid a throw. There appears to be a multitude of presumably Asian knock offs going on ebay at the mo
every one of them is an unwanted Xmas present according to the seller!
-
Harper is fit but he's not been starting, Jamie Murphy might be worth a look.Be good to see Snodgrass back, I suppose Tierney and Paterson as full backs have a shout, not sure if it's too soon for them.
Is Harper back from injury and featuring for Brighton yet?
-
I think it's a fair bet Tierney will be involved at some point.
I'd like to see Paterson getting a start in one of the games.
I'm not sure we'll see many shock call ups, more just a case of fringe players getting a run, just my opinion mind.
-
Really don't have a problem with it, he's well down the pecking order as far as midfielders go.
Good luck to him.

STV Sport reporting it.
Doesn't say if home or away though

We get into Vienna at 1930 on Sunday night, planning a night there then boat trip up to Bratislava on the Monday.
-
Isn't having a "Tartan Army party" eight months from our next scheduled match a little tragic?
If enough people want to attend to make it worthwhile why not?
-
That would be excellent. Also heard Serbia at Tynecastle again today from another source.
Haven't been to a Scotland game at that venue. Would be a nice wee day out.
-
I don't get this opinion that Fletcher is finished, he'd be first name on team sheet for me and reinstated as captain.Watching MOTD and Fletcher and Morrison continue to impress for West Brom. It's hard to see who we have that is better than these two in their respective positions.
In international football you need to retain the ball and he's one of the best around at it.
-
I expect Norwich to be back in for him in January.Tony Watt is a cock. Never going to reach his potential. Naisy needs a move

Just booked Edinburgh-Düsseldorf-Vienna on the Sunday and Vienna-Oslo-Edinburgh on the Wednesday. Under 200.
Planning to spend the Sunday night in Vienna.

Got to be careful not to get carried away re McGinn, he does have talent but was awful last season and I'd argue he's shining this season due to being in a lower division.I think McGinn is a good player. My remark was just a throw-away response in to another poster deciding to slag off Ryan Jack for no reason.

This has been my overriding thought since Thursday, we're a nation who were renowned for bringing through players with a touch of arrogance over the years, where has that arrogance gone?My tuppence worth:
Draws are not good results and will result in failure to qualify. I tried to point this out in the pub after our draw in Poland and got shot down.
Germany/Spain/Italy, etc. are not 11 superhero Gods. We can beat them and we can certainly take points from them. We currently take zero points from 6 as "Well we didn't expect anything so no harm done"
We focused on 4 games against out expected rivals when the group consisted 10 games.
We must learn to take points even when outplayed...........apparently Germany were all over Ireland but lost.
Yes it is psychological. A golfer standing over a 4 foot putt thinking "I think I'll miss" will miss. We need to start believing we can win. Currently everyone says the right things on TV but do they really, honestly believe?
I think we're too nice now and take defeat too easily, it's time to start being that wee nippy terrier that irritates the bigger dugs.
-
Looking at the Germany games in particular, you could argue if being a bit harsh they were there for the taking, particularly in the away tie.
We, myself included congratulated the team for the narrow loss, what did a poorer Ireland side do?
Took 4 points off them.
-
I agree with him on most counts, it's not exclusive to the fans though.
It comes from every angle though I reckon.
Our coaches and as a result our players give opposition far too much respect which then makes it appear that us as fans should be so incredibly grateful for a snatched point or narrow defeat.
As has been discussed elsewhere there are countries with equal and poorer players than us who achieve more, until we change our attitude as a nation(including the media)we'll continue to under achieve.

He'd be my choice.I wouldn't mind seeing Callum Paterson given a go in the upcoming friendly matches ahead of Hutton.
-
I bought all 3 recently, can't recommend it enough.
Sorry about the 'great item great ebayer' feedback, it's saved as a template on the app on my phone.
Wish I'd been a bit more descriptive.
Great read though.

Any idea who Rhodes has replaced?Armstrong?
-
Let's hope so, let me know if you get any joy.
-
Would be pretty underwhelmed by that, I'd much rather see Kenny McLean.Kevin McDonald of Wolves to be called up according to Herald.
-
Of course aye, good to know he's back on track though. He was outstanding last week at Tynecastle. He needs about 20 games like that before he should be considered for Scotland though!

Despite being on the losing side Snodgrass was looking pretty sharp for Hull today, he's surprised me how well his comeback has gone.
