I honestly think some people are just being mental. Our not being at the Euros combines with the two losses to Italy and France seem to have just made some folks overly emotional.

Setting aside the Italy and France games, as they're a couple of the best in the world, we won our two other friendlies this year, and kept clean sheets in both. In the qualifying campaign, sure we lost to the world champions and only 1 other game. The one is disappointing, for sure, but if you'd asked any of us on here before the group started if we'd be happy with 3 draws and a win from the 4 games against Poland and Ireland, to a man we'd have said yes. All that cost us was some freak results where the Germans missed 47 chances and that one game where we did what we've been doing for decades, losing to a random rubbish team.

It's not nearly as bad as some are making out. Strachan's bringing in some new, younger players and seems to be looking at systems other than the 1 man up front that we've been playing pretty much continuously. Our upcoming qualifying group has no Germany in it, instead we have 3 pretty rubbish sides, a 1 man team and a poor England side which can't score, can't defend and is likely to start the campaign without a manager.

So dry your tears over the Euros, stop complaining that our 3rd choice midfield got wrecked by France's 1st choice and let's move into a new campaign with a big of hope.

Yeah I'd agree with most of that.

It seems as if the criticism has increased since the Euros started and quite frankly it's got feck all to do with us as we're not there.

His biggest mistake was persisting with a few players against Georgia who weren't playing every week for their clubs and it showed.

He got found out, if he's learned from it that's great.

If he's not then he'll be punted.

I certainly don't think we should be judging him till after the England game when we should have 6 points if not 7.

  2. Great interview, good to hear him being so passionate about the game and the national team.

It's clearly a job he's incredibly proud to have and takes it very seriously.

I'd recommend his detractors have a listen to this and start to get behind him.

West Brom agree a fee of £5.5 mil for Matt Philips

That's 4 Scotland internationals this year have moved for £33.5 mil between them. Ritchie (12) Naismith (7) Rhodes (9) and now Philips for 5.5. Add in a potential move to Sheffield Wednesday for Ross McCormack for £15 mil which has been rumoured that's some amount of money, especially when 3 of them have hardly kicked a ball for us. :o

I thought Phillips looked pretty good in the recent friendlies.

Having 3 players at West Brom can do no harm.

There's a couple of Large ones on ebay if they're any good? One an original replica by the looks of it and one Score Draw one :) Just keep checking, that's where I got my XL one.

    Cheers man?

Yeah I'm on it, been watching them both on eBay since they were listed, hopefully get one of them.

I have the official player issued away top from the 1986 World Cup, No.10 Jim Bett. The mesh type, it was never worn in a match. Size large. Yours for £500 ?

Take a zero off it and I'd be tempted.?

Sadly 500 notes is more than I could justify these days.

Did he not take a mega huffy over being questioned on his Faro bus transfers? He was asking for money up front and then people would pull out and he was refusing to give refunds, yet happily sold seats on....and got a little bit nasty (though more a mountain out of a mole hill)

Ah right, funnily enough a mate of mine questioned him on his Bratislava buses and got 'telt aff'.

There was atleast three posts yesterday asking when the season tickets go on sale.:o

Brilliant, a whole group on facebook(minus the wind up merchants)who've never used google.?

  8. It just doesn't work out for them.

Look at Fyvie, moved to early and is now a bit part player in the Scottish second tier.

Compare to Kenny McLean who resisted moves to average English sides and is now a full international.

  9. JD and adidas have really missed a trick with this.

With them having sole rights it means Score Draw can no longer produce the retro range which were a massive seller.

JD currently stock 1 retro item, a pretty average 78 home top.

I know for a fact Score Draw would love to do another retro Scotland range.

I'm reluctant to say it really, but the comparisons with Vogts feel merited. When I saw the squads I thought of the friendly against Estonia that some of us will remember travelling to. I remember standing in the ground and being bemused that quite a few of those on the park were anywhere near a game for Scotland, and thinking 'how the fvck did it come to this?' Hopefully Scotland play well in both games, and a couple of the new players emerge as genuine options, but too many of those names make me think of  the likes of Steven Caldwell, Robbie Stockdale, Gareth Williams, Scott Dobie and Warren Cummings. Hopefully I'm 100% wrong.

Hes chosen to pick 2 lots of 16 for 2 different friendlies and if nobody steps up its business as usual.

Vogts didn't have a business as usual, there's no comparison at all.

  11. I don't really know what more Strachan can do, he's explained why some guys are in both squads, new guys called up and guys omitted. It's pretty simple really.

If he'd called up 2 squads of 22 there'd have been a dozen or so guys who got no game time at all.

Im quite impressed with what he's done, it's quite groundbreaking for us, although I don't agree 100% with a couple of omissions.

He's the manager though, so while he's in charge he gets my full backing.

  12. That's us sorted now.

Flying Edinburgh-Hamburg-Vienna on the Sunday, wee night out in Vienna, boat trip up the Danube on Monday to Bratislava with Monday night there.

Matchday train to Trnava and staying there after the game. Back to Vienna on the Wednesday to fly home via Oslo.

We could do with some of that magic with Scotland but in reverse. Players who dont do uch at their clubs but raise it for internationals and perform very well. I always thought that about John McGinlay - "Why has this guy been picked!?" Then he would score an important goal and play well. Don Hutchison too.

You could say the same about McFadden actually.

Never really achieved much at club level despite having undoubted talent but had an excellent international career.
