    What do you mean?

I meant that everybody is having to readjust at the moment, so there is no reason to moan about your own individual situation, because we’re all in the same boat.

Except not everybody’s circumstances are the same. Some clearly have greater cause for concern than others. You either can’t comprehend that or just don’t want to, hence your selfish dismissal of people’s very valid concerns. Grow up and show some compassion.

    Great fact!

No as good as the only player to have been capped over four separate decades though 😉

    Name him......

Someone obscure like that Iranian chap who has scored an absolute rake of goals? Can’t remember his name. Ali something?

    or Tim Cahill?

or someone from the olden days when folk used to play until they were ancient, ie 50s, eg Stanley Matthews

  3. Great thread indeed. (Much better than  the pish you guys normally bang on about / bicker over 😜)

Got Match routinely. League ladders were magic but struggled to keep them up to date by the end of September.

Loved the sticker albums. I think the 1986 WC album had weird plastic cards where the corners tucked into slots on the page, rather than stickers. Tried to recreate childhood memories by getting the 2016 Euros sticker album (which was a bit shit because there was no Scotland page) and, to the astonishment of my wife,  bought about 500 stickers off amazon then played swaps with a couple of other sad middle aged men at work. Completed the Albania page but hadn’t heard of any of their players.

Wasn’t into Roy of the rovers so much but do remember Viz doing a send up of it where Roy is on a night out after winning (of course) and ends up pulling a page 3 girl . “Roy scores for the second time that day”, read the caption.

Anyone remember Wee alickie on the back page of the green final? Oor Wullie type character whose mood depended on how Aberdeen got on earlier that day. Great bloke. Remember him being unimpressed when Aberdeen drew 1-1 with 10 man Celtic in the 84 cup final. GF went to press before the dons romped to (yet another) cup final win after extra time.

Didn’t like football monthly. IIRC that was the one entirely devoted to English football except for a half page “round up” of Scottish football near the back.

  4. Following on from the admiration for Negrete’s goal in 86, I remember Soviet Union scoring a number ridiculously good goals in that World Cup, including a 6-0 routing of Hungary. Igor belanov and vasily rats (great name) amongst the scorers.

Can anyone remember an international team having anything on the front of their shirts before the soviets’ “CCCP”? I think wee numbers on the front came in for Euro 92 or WC94

  5. Being deleterious certainly is a reason to ban something, or at least consider banning it.

Driving is a necessity of modern life and the vast majority of journeys undertaken  do not result in death or injury. The  purpose of boxing is to repeatedly hit your opponent in the head until you knock them out. We shouldn’t be surprised at the incidences of brain injury / death.

Promote martial arts instead. Far more useful in a ficht anyway.

Smoking should be banned too. Only reason it isn’t is that people have been doing it for years and certain people make an awful lot of money out of it (a bit like boxing). If smoking never existed but someone invented it today, no way it would be allowed.

    I stopped gambling in January.

Got a bit of a grasp on me and needed an out.

Deleted all my apps, even stopped doing super 6 midway through the season and haven’t looked at a bet since.

Never even put on the kids horses for the grand national.

Good man. Only the bookies win in the end and there’s far more important things in life to spend your money on, as you well know

Ca  anyone help with a problem?

    I live in engerland,

When listening to sportsound live using tune in app or bbd radio player I lose coverage when a live game is on because of the rights or some other nonsense reason.

It works fine on my TV but not when on my phone 🤬

It would be good to be able to listen to live midweek games on my phone on the car journey home.

    And suggestions?

    Sorry - just seen this.

I’m listening to it via the bbc website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/49078351

Seems to work fine. Need to register to prove you’ve got a tv licence. Otherwise, it’s fine

Half right on the managers.  If your scenario was true there would've been 5 Scotland managers involved.

    The 5th being Steve Clarke?

But only half right on the managers.....

Thinking it must be another mcleish / miller match near the end of miller’s playing days.

    1986 Scotland v Romania, 3-0 to us.

Dalglish captained us on the occasion of his 100th cap.  Liverpool captain Alan Hansen came on at half-time.

One to go.  Come on, folks - 4 Scotland managers were involved in the game that night.

Were the 4 Scotland managers involved Roxburgh, mcleish, strachan and Levein, meaning we’re looking at 1990-92?

That’s different though. That was his choice to wear a pineapple on his heid. The songs would’ve stopped immediately had he shaved his hair or had a sensible haircut.

He should’ve changed his hairstyle because he got abuse? The bullies win then. Wouldn’t have been my choice of hairstyle but don’t see why he should conform to a so called sensible haircut

So where do you draw the line? Theres fans in Rimini and Bologna

Tell you what I’m going via Frankfurt, that’s where the pick up should be

Rimini would be the most logical option. Majority of fans are staying there and the SFA’s travel guide suggests they are aware of that. Arranging a pick up in Frankfurt would be pretty daft.
