Would that extra tax income been missed off the GERS figures that year?
And if its included now, how does that affect the Scottish deficit as a % of GDP vs UK deficit as a % of GDP?

Getting a couple of matches to increase sharpness against a diddy team from Luxembourg or something has enabled us to hit the ground running in Q2 the last few years.
Absolutely nothing could go wrong there eh

Dont know why anyone would want to drink in Wetherspoons pubs. Its like entering a Blackpool amusement arcade.
For me its solely the choice of beer - I cant think of anything else I find appealing about them?
If youre in a smaller place like Ayr or Airdrie you arent going to get a decent choice of ale unless you go to Wetherspoons. Just seems to be the way it is up here.

As said, think its closing/closed as they could not agree terms on a new lease on the building they used.
Its closed - they did have a good selection of ale, but not as good as Bon Accord I dont think?
To be honest the best selection of draught beer (cask and keg) in Glasgow is probably that Wetherspoons at George Square.

The Laurieston on Bridge Street. Traditional as in a trip back in time, and brilliant. Lovely folk run it and drink in it. Unless a Sub Crawl crowd is in
Would agree with this if youre at Central Station - its a lovely old pub and the boy who runs it is brand new. Always have decent ale on tap.
The Toby Jug is horrendous. Like a head office for shoplifters.

Oh I'm happy for them however they are not a good team, will come straight back down
Not necessarily - they had the lowest budget in the league (or thereabouts) and the manager has them top 4 all season. With a lot more cash he might be able to keep them up.

Cheers for the good wishes. That was a day out & a half.
I saw so many lads that I've stood on terraces with, in every division in the league over decades. I was 7 the last time Town were top flight & have never seen a Premier League match in my life (English that is - I've seen the odd couple of Scottish ones).
Most of all though, my son. He has travelled up & down with me to places like Dagenham (on a Tuesday night), Macclesfield (to see us lose 4-0). We once travelled over 1200 miles in 5 days to see us concede 8 & score nil. He has been with me virtually every game since he was barely out of nappies. We were there when we went bust & only had 8 players on the books with a week to go before the season & thought were going to end up in the local pub league.
After I finished going ballistic & realised I needed to reduce my blood pressure & heart rate if I didn't want to spend the night in intensive care, he gave me a massive, sweat soaked hug & I burst into tears.
I cancelled a holiday for that match & it was worth every lost penny.
Fantastic stuff? Congratulations!

Manchester is a city I get. Love it. The music from the place overwhelmed me and still does. Through in football, humour, style and attitude it ticks all my boxes. Going out there for a pint is like being home which sounds weird but I genuinely feel as comfortable there as anywhere else. Feels like an attack on my home.
Ive lived in both Manchester and Glasgow - know exactly what you mean.

Some people just don't like hitting penalties. At the end of the day I'd rather have someone who was confident taking it over someone who isn't too sure.
Yeah sorry thats kinda the point I was trying (and failing) to make - if he wasnt confident enough to take a penalty in a season where he scored 40 goals, he probably shouldnt take one one in a season where he's scored very little and been largely anonymous.

Shat out hitting a pen too.
He did yes.
He also didnt take one of the initial five penalties when huddersfield were in the play off final in 2012 - which is incredible when you consider he scored 40 goals that season.

Rhodes - Barely plays for Sheff Weds I bet they are regretting buying him for the amount they are set to pay.
He doesnt get much service really, to be fair to him. Wednesday have been ridiculously defensive this season compared to last.

Corby wouldnt vote SNP anyway, even if it was only Scots polled!

Was all a bit cringe for me, turned it off after a while. The only person on the panel I was interested in listening to was Merryn. I agree with you and thought about it last night, same old same old, day in day out. Across the board.
I feel a bit similar about these type of programmes. Maybe not so much for the election, but for a future referendum Id like to see more non-politicians on debate panels - academics for example.
Politicians just rattle out too many soundbites IMO............"Dragged out fo EU against our will", "Sturgeon should get back to the day job", etc etc

Talking about old Scotland v England games at Hampden - any auld yin's like me also go to the games in 1987 & 1989, pretty feckin wild (particularly the '89 game) by far the worst crowd trouble i have witnessed.
Remember the pie stall (I think) in the old east stand getting "attacked" by England fans at half time. I was in West Stand and remember them all running up the terracing in a big wave.
What was that all about??
Also remember Viccy Road being a bit fiery afterwards

Time to do away with the national team.
Scotland does not need another divisive qualification campaign.
-
Interesting reply from the Tory regarding "permission for a referendum" - would they really be that daft???
Dugdale refusing to stick up for the will of the Scottish people. No wonder their poll rating is plummeting.

Forgive my ignorance, but SNP getting rid of Council Tax? Was that a manifesto pledge?
J
It was in 2007, when it had no chance of getting thru Holyrood due to minority government.
It wasn't in 2011 manifesto, or 2016

If Id travelled over from Norway to find my ticket had ended up being given to someone else, and no-one seemed willing to do anything about it, my language would also be a bit "colourful".
