Alex Iacovitti - on loan to Mansfield from Nott'm Forest.
Forest were playing him at left-back, but the Mansfield manager described him as " an old-school centre half who can play and has good pace".

How did they get past the 51% role? Understand Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg exceptions.
It's complicated. They didn't get an exception. Basically, Red Bull own the club, but the club has to be controlled by at least 51% of "voting members" of the club. To get round this the voting members of the club are Red Bull employees. Although anyone can become a "supporting member" of the club, there is no official way to become a voting member.
By finding a way round the 50+1 rule they've opened the door for others to do the same, and this is one of the reasons that fans of other clubs hate them.

Worth a read:
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/28/sports/soccer/bundesliga-rb-leipzig-red-bull.html
QuoteTerrence Boyd, the team’s American forward, described the facilities as “among the best you could find anywhere, a huge draw for the club.”
What Mintzlaff describes as RB’s “philosophy,” instituted by Rangnick, centers exclusively on youth. The club tries to sign only players between the ages of 17 and 24, and there is a stated dedication to producing as many young, homegrown prospects as possible. The club is not, Mintzlaff said, “just buying players.” Its style of play — indicative of the philosophy of Rangnick, regarded by many as the godfather of the German pressing game — is attractive and expansive.
I think this could prove to be a fantastic move for Burke.

Scotland are going to beat Germany in Hampden, We are going to beat them in Dublin and Poland wll get a point off them in Germany.....leaving the Germans in Fourth and the other 3 will all qualify.......Sorted!!
Serious amount of mystic megs in this thread
Germany could beat Poland and still finish 4th.
If Germany lost against Scotland and Ireland, and Poland got a draw against Scotland, then Poland and Ireland could play out a 0-0 draw to finish 2nd and 3rd.
-
Personally, I think Ireland will travel to Warsaw knowing only a win will give them 3rd place.
Not mission impossible, but it's a big ask.
-
At the end of the day Ireland and Scotland have the same games left to play.
Georgia, Gibralter, Germany, Poland.
I think we can ignore Gibralter, so what ever points Scotland take from the Georgia, Germany, and Poland games, Ireland has to top it by 3 if they want to finish above us.
-
Basically, as things stand, it's statistically almost impossible for us to get a low enough points total to finish 3rd in the group but a high enough points total to be the best 3rd place team.
Beat Georgia, Germany, Gibralter, 2-2 draw with Poland?

Anyone who asks you to explain knows nothing about football? Nice attitude.
For the corner, the ball is played in by Glenn Whelan who had too much space due to Morrison, Brown, and Maloney all sitting too deep.
Hutton then doesn't win his header, and reacts too slowly when the ball drops to Walters.
It's a real stretch to blame Forsyth.
As for Ireland exploiting an obvious weakness, the statistics don't back it up.
Just as many crosses came from Hutton's side of the pitch.
Brady and Hoolahan on the left saw as much of the ball as Coleman and Walters on the right.
-
just watched the highlights again - i blame Hutton totally for the goal - no attempt at header that led to the corner ; Marshall having to tip it over
- then slow reacting to Walters at the goal ; even allowing for the offside , it was his man by looks of it
Totally agree with this.
This thread is about the wrong full-back.
-
As bad a game as I've seen anyone have in a Scotland game in long time
Pretty sure the cross that lead to the corner they scored from came from his side. Everything went down there as they quickly realised he was honking.
He was brutal, worth discussing.
If someone is absolutely atrocious, we need to be able to discuss it and throw ideas around about alternative tactics.
I felt Forsyth merited his own discussion as his performance was so shockingly bad
I can't believe you started a thread to have a go at a player without stopping to think of one single thing he did wrong.
"pretty sure the cross came from his side" - is that your whole argument?
-
If that were to happen the pot for football in each area would be much much smaller than it is now and your higfhlights would probably end up on a pay-per view channel. IMHO ;-)
You mean a commercial channel. Like STV. Aye, sounds like a nightmare right enough.

The simple solution is to devolve the BBC.
Scottish licence fees should go to a Scottish BBC. Simple.
But as to the market value. Scottish football has a "brand value" comparable to countries like Poland, Austria, Norway, and Belgium.
And all of those countries leagues have much bigger TV deals than Scotland.

It's not as clear cut as that. Here's some of what he said in the other article:
Jones said: “My grandpa was from Glasgow and my mum, Marie Louise, grew up in Uddingston before moving to Cornwall before I was born.“We drove to Scotland to see our family at every opportunity and that usually meant trips to Parkhead to see Celtic players train at Barrowfield and get pictures and autographs."My uncle, Martin MacDonald, also used to take me to the astro at the Firhill Complex and we’d have a little kickabout, or I’d pester some of the bigger boys for a game with them.“I have great memories of my childhood in Scotland and I was also taken to quite a few Celtic matches by my family. It sounds like he's eligible for Scotland, England, Wales, and Italy.
As a 16 year old he's old enough now to make a decision.

Vitesse have two Georgian players playing for them, WGS might just have been scouting them.
Guram Kashia and Valeri Qazaishvili.
Kashia is a centre-half and is one of Georgia's best players. Qazaishvili is a young lad just breaking into the team, but with 9 goals this season from midfield (including one last night), I think we can expect to see him feature against Scotland in September.

Villa would definitely be a step sideways IMO

"Aston Villa join transfer chase for highly-rated Hull City full-back Andrew Robertson"

here's the 2 goals Ritchie scored at the weekend.
First one is a really nice finish
-
There are three Scottish players in the MLS at the moment.
Mallace, Caldwell, and Maloney.
All of them seem to be playing for mid-table teams in a league that is probably on the same level as the SPL.
Maybe, if he stays fit, Maloney can drag Chicago into the top-half of the league and keep his place in the Scotland squad.
But, I can't imagine Mallace (or Caldwell) being even on the radar.
-
a top drawer finish from Ritchie!
Assist for Ritchie at 1:20
Goal at the 2:16 mark

Darren fletcher and james morrison at WBA have took a dip.
McArthur at crystal palace also
Disagree with this.
Just based on statistics, but Fletcher has slowly but surely been getting better with every game.
Also West Brom got a good 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Saturday, and a good win (and goal for Morrison) last week away against Palace.
What evidence is there of a dip in form from McArthur?
-
IF that's the case I stand corrected. If you would be so kind to add a link?
I don't think anything you wrote on this thread has been corrected.
Presumably, without any friendly at all, we would have just needed to beat Ireland to be certain of pot 2.
However, it is good to know that, even with the negative impact of the Qatar friendly, our chances of making pot 2 are still realistic.

And no I am not on a wind-up. Jeez because I am not seething at the SFA does not make me an employee of theirs or any less a Scotland supporter.
Frankly, this thread is pretty pathetic.
To me this is an A-typical thread of a football supporter who feel it is the done and natural thing to have a go at the SFA for anything and everything.
I fail to see why the quivering petted lip reaction by some here.
Oh come on davew, people would be annoyed with the SFA regardless.
Why? Because I am not foaming at the mouth about a choice of friendlies? Or because I am not towing the line by wading in to criticise anything the SFA does?
Why? Because the SFA have fücked up here. Everyone can see it. But you think we're all "pathetic" "foaming-at-the-mouth" "quivering petted lip" idiots for stating the obvious.
-
I realise about points for friendlies but as I understand it this friendly was arranged months ago was it not? Before anyone on here and probably at the SFA (to be fair) had even dreamed about reaching Pot Two. Pot Three (regardless of this friendly result) is where I think we are destined to finish.
Destined??? You're making excuses for incompetence. I'm starting to think you might work for the SFA.
As for your claim that everyone on this board is as ill-informed as you are, just read this:

CC, there are no friendlies any more. All games are worth points.
But the points are averaged.
The game against Qatar is not worth many points.
So, even if we win, our average score drops.
Normally this wouldn't matter much, but this is the last chance to gain points before the world cup draw, and Scotland are on the brink of having a really good seeding for the draw.
So, a well chosen friendly against a good, but beatable, side (e.g. Greece) would have improved our chances of going to a world cup.
Instead we get Qatar, which just shows the SFA are not fit for purpose.
