  1. Our right back was nowhere to be seen when they crossed it for their goal. We are losing not because they are better but because we are a farce. Darren Fletcher was an example of having an opportunity to try a long ranger but passed it instead. It's a sad state that now we are seeing our group is very average and here we are not even competing and giving it away. I would have thought  after Gordon saw how close we were mathematically to losing out last time he would have learned every game needs to be played like it's our last and been more assertive.

  2. I think I said this on another thread but I would like Paul Lambert, but I want Strachan to finish out his two years, get us to the world cup and then clean out his locker. There are many different styles of managing, my style is be real about the task ahead and then show my believe in my team that they are equal of it.  Certain people thrive under pressure but it seems most footballers are sheltered from it.

Thr big worry is. Who is our next manager ?We are doomed. We are lookung at Stevie Paterson highland league types .

I'm throwing Paul Lambert's name in there.  Works with younger players and was part of the squad to make our last World Cup.  However I am hoping circumstances do not warrant that before the end of his (WGS) current contract and we get this together and make the WC.

  4. If we are talking about a new manager, I am for Paul Lambert.  I think he would be well suited as our coach.  However if we win on Tuesday then we are on 7 points and that was the objective.  Yes we played poorly, and lacked anything positive - We had about 3 shots until atleast the 70th minute.  I was encouraged to see the boys trying, I totally believed we were going to equalize about the 70th min and then go on to win, but the clock kept winding down and nothing was really happening.  IF we don't win on Tuesday, of course we are not mathematically out but come on we really should win to at least feel positive about our point tally.

These last few days I was believing we were going to get 9 points and have a cushion, I was dreaming about going to the WC not via the play off and actually thinking we could win the group but all that's gone now and I really should know better by now, someone hear my confession.

  5. GK.  Marshall

    RB. Patterson

    CB. Martin

    CB. Hanley

    LB. Robertson /

    CM. Fletcher

    CM. McArthur

    RM. Forrest

    AM. Snodgrass

    LM. Ritchie

    CM. Fletcher

Tierney is too inexperienced at this level, 2 nil up and no threat from them then I would bring him on later if Robertson tires.  Burke is my impact sub and I would give him 30 mins unless Forrest is playing a blinder, I would look to preserve his pace for Tuesday and I would look to give Griffiths atleast 25 mins and say show me you want to start on Tuesday unless in training he hasn't been looking sharp.

It's the tenth anniversary of that goal next year, we should petition the SFA to have Twinkletoes inducted into the HoF next year.

    I like that idea personally.

  7. I miss remembered one of his goals thinking it was against Lithuania but it was actually Macedonia.

My point of this thread is should James be capped two more times so that he can be in the hall of fame? The last could be a testimonial type match.

His goals are fondly remembered, and particularly the one V France is iconic that will be remembered for decades similar to Archie Gemmill's.

Would it cheapen those who earned 50 without any assistance or is there a precedence to induct a player without reaching the milestone?

  8. Its bad for football, but good for us personally.  A change of personnel CAN have an immediate effect but this one in a short spell they will be in a bad state mentally. Gareth Southgate apparently, maybe confirmed by now if I was not typing this is, is set to take over.  I don't expect this to have any effect on our match, as home nations dont require much in terms of external motivation but the other games around them will be affected.

  9. Diadora

    03-05

Home - decent design on paper, cheap construction - 5

Away - plain design but better construction - 6

    05 - 04

Home - Ugly, other than the pinstripe from Fila the only home top I haven't bought in 20 years. - 4

Away - passable with great quality. - 6

    07 - 08

Home - The gold one. Gold has nothing with our identity but this was a great top and one of my favorites. Simple design but works well - 8

Away - Inverse saltire, sounds odd but this is one of my fav away jerseys. - 9

    08 - 10

Home, faux collar aside I like the home top, ticks core design elements - 7

Away - simple design, don't really like it but it was my daughters first so its an 8 for that reason.

    Adidas

    10 -11

Home - I knew going in this one was temporary but its one of my faves and still bought it. 9

Away - The yellow alternative. I don't like it, but it was my sons fav so its a 8 instead of a 6.

Far better build quality on the Adidas so far.

    11 - 13

Home - I love the design but to wear I don't like the collar. The saltire motif was too busy - 7

    Away - a nice retro look - 8

    14 - 15

Home - when I saw a pic, I loved it until I owned it and thought it was garbage, change a few color choices and it would have been far better. 6

Away - I like this one and would have liked to keep it for a bit longer. 8

    16 - 17

Home - Sounded like a decent idea on paper and better than the one before but build quality harks harks to some of the diadora ones. 6

Away - A very bold choice, I don't see any connection in our history to pink and black 5

Why can't we a get a red away jersey?

  10. We have now had 4 generations of Football jersey from Adidas which is the same as we had with Diadora. Giving each home and away marks put of ten, on looks and build quality who is the champion?

Variants don't count, nor do maroon monsters or the third yellow kit circa 2003. Feel free to give your opinion on those bowever. Nostalgia and performances may taint your view and that's perfectly fine.

    Game on.

  11. If just one match had gone the other way, then we would have scraped the playoffs, I call that progress. Although realistically it was more than one match but it somehow helps look at how we have improved since Burley and Levin.

  12. In a bit to make friendlies meaningful, there is the 2018-2019 UEFA Nations League to look forward to.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018%E2%80%9319_UEFA_Nations_League#Format

The format looks confusing but is another route apparently for 4 teams to qualify for the EURO's in 2020.

A third rate international competition is perhaps where we belong, so gutted today.

Does anyone have any understanding of how this thing is going to operate?

  13. I can't take much more of this. I moved abroad and it takes allot of effort to follow Scotland live every match, I am so gutted. My kids are 6, this is up there with Georgia 2008, Georgia 15, Belgium 01, Holland 03 but then you pick yourself up thinking hey we have a chance. Its going to be 5 years until we make a major tournament, this is bad. Three years ago I thought this EURO 16 is our best hope and I had some hope, but I have no left to spend.

Let's take care of the Poles tonight.

HUNDREDS of years ago there was a king of Scotland and his name was Robert the Bruce. It was a good thing that he was both brave and wise, because the times in which he lived were wild and dangerous. The King of England was at war with him, and had led a great army into Scotland to drive him out of the land and to make Scotland a part of England.
Battle after battle he had fought with England. Six times Robert the Bruce had led his brave little army against his foes. Six times his men had been beaten, until finally they were driven into flight. At last the army of Scotland was entirely scattered, and the king was forced to hide in the woods and in lonely places among the mountains. One rainy day, Robert the Bruce lay in a cave, listening to the rainfall outside the cave entrance. He was tired and felt sick at heart, ready to give up all hope. It seemed to him that there was no use for him to try to do anything more.
As he lay thinking, he noticed a spider over his head, getting ready to weave her web. He watched her as she worked slowly and with great care. Six times she tried to throw her thread from one edge of the cave wall to another. Six times her thread fell short.
"Poor thing!" said Robert the Bruce. "You, too, know what it's like to fail six times in a row." But the spider did not lose hope. With still more care, she made ready to try for a seventh time. Robert the Bruce almost forgot his own troubles as he watched, fascinated. She swung herself out upon the slender line. Would she fail again? No! The thread was carried safely to the cave wall, and fastened there.

"Yes!" cried Bruce, "I, too, will try a seventh time!"
So he arose and called his men together. He told them of his plans, and sent them out with hopeful messages to cheer the discouraged people. Soon there was an army of brave men around him. A seventh battle was fought, and this time the King of England was forced to retreat back to his own country.
It wasn't long before England recognized Scotland as an independent country with Robert the Bruce as its rightful king.
And to this very day, the victory and independence of Scotland is traced to a spider who kept trying again and again to spin her web in a cave and inspired the king of Scotland, Robert the Bruce.
