Every French town, village and city has a municipal campsite. Get yourself booked in there. Usually you don't even have to book, just turn up. Your only lookout is, like most campsites, it's no noise after 11pm.

I refuse to believe we are unoriginal, boring bastards when you see some of the excellent authors, underground and some mainstream bands and artists that come from Scotland.
It's built into the programme comissioning process. Only unfunny shite created by the producer's pals is allowed to be made on BBC Scotland. Limmy's Show only got through because the commissioning editor couldn't understand his accent and assumed it was shite like everything else.

What gets me about that headline is that surgeons 'only' earn £500 a day. That's no more than a GP gets for a more skillful job.

Used to love his show (essential Sunday viewing in the days of 4 channels on tv), then went to see his roadshow in Kilwinning in the mid 80's and basically he sat with a face like thunder throughout the whole show, as Paladin was playing up and not working properly, and kind of spoiled the illusion.
I met Glen Michael and was pretty uncomfortable about it. He was really grumpy, like he hated kids and couldn't wait to be somewhere else. Looking back though, not wanting to hang around kids is a massive plus for a children's TV presenter of the era.

The Golden Cagoule. Parodied by Armando Ianucci - 'A quiz show about hills'.

Well why don't you go and clear it instead of sittin in your armchair
That's the whole problem. People thinking someone else is going to clean up after them.

The trains in Italy are still significantly better than ours.
That's the price we pay for democracy.
There's an amazing place in East Africa, Asmara, built by the Italians during the modernist period, would love to see it.

In other parts of the country, if people have excess rubbish they take it to the tip. How can Glaswegians no do that too instead of leaving it on the street and expecting someone else to deal with it?

When I first saw a road sign for Bonkle some years back it drew a laugh.
Dykehead sounds like an insult that'd be the starting point for a fight in a kebab shop.
Just yesterday I came across a place called Laughatlothian! It's 1km SW of Penicuik House.

Thank **** for that. It's goodnight for us all if he gets in.
The nightmare scenario: Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and Kezia Dugdale.

It's not just us. Go visit other western countries and their news is obsessed with happenings in the US as well.

Drumgelloch. That's the one. Might as well be Brigadoon.

Bonnyrigg to Buchanan Galleries, A720 & M8. Clear run all the way, as sbcmfc said the Friday rush hour was over by then. Might not have fancies my chances earlier in the week.

Left 17:45 and took an hour door to door. No holdups at all, very satisfied. Thanks for the advice

Sad to hear. I got a new phone recently from Vodafone in Edinburgh and the service was top notch. If you are going to the Princes St store look for a young lad who knows what he is about...

The Office and Extras are genius and more than excuse the rest of his stuff. If it's an unfunny arsehole you are after look no further than James Corden.

I'll watch your car for £50
You're alright, the gig's no at Ibrox
Last time I drove to Hampden the road was unbelieveable, missed the start of the game, so didn't want to underestimate the traffic again.
-
Thanks, will probably leave 17:45 then for a 19:30 gig. Hopefully time for a swift pre-show hauf. The other option I considered is to drop the car off at Linlithgow or Croy and train it in. Cannae believe the prices on the train though!

Joy Dunlop was my Gaelic tutor!
Must be distracting learning a language with a raging hard-on.

How bad is it at 6pm on Fridays? I'm off to central Glasgow for Celtic Connections tomorrow and working out the best way to get there from Midlothian. Should be an easy hour's drive on the way back but not having the pleasure of commuting on the A720 or M8 I've no idea how bad they are.

A man who knows his onions.
On the plus side for those with tracker mortgages, it is now looking unlikely that interest rates will rise this year:

Crow Road, barring one of the best opening lines in English literature, was like all of Iain (M) Banks works, shite.
