A draw sets us up nicely, a loss is not the end but a heavy loss or 2+ would be very detrimental and as other groups play out their 3rd matches could well equal the end for us.

    A loss is the end

Well also lets not forget we had our most influential player out. The massive difference between the two teams was they took their chances we didn't. That aside we had more shots on goal, more possession and more territory but that counts for nothing if you can't score.

Let's not forget Mcginn was played deep in favour of Armstrong in his position

    Marshall was favoured to Gordon

    Dykes to Adams

Hendry to Gallagher or even better no five at the back

    And odonnell to anyone

Not sure it's best to get on Clarkes back. He's been a decent appointment so far but it could be better. He needs to make sure we don't embarrass ourselves now in our last 2 games and then try and build some momentum in the wc qualifiers and get 2nd place. I am still happy with him as our manager but today was a poor choice in line ups and he has to drop a few guys for younger players and look to the future imo.

We have already embarrassed ourselves today

That was a costa rica level defeat

Getting humped 2-0 off an average level side in your own stadium with the eyes of the world on you

  4. Hendry simply not up to this level

Another poor call playing him today

Odonnell,  dykes, Christie, Armstrong,  hendry, Marshall,  the formation

Every decision wrong by Clarke today

You're being generous re. Forrest - I struggle to think of any contributions other than the Albania and Israel games in 2018. He plays like a 15-year-old schoolboy with low footballing intelligence, searing pace and no idea how to make the most of it.

O'Donnell is useful for pressing, very disciplined in terms of shape but lacks the ability required at international level. Patterson will replace him after the tournament I feel.

    You're probably correct

Same with both Gilmour and Patterson,  they have way more talent than the incumbents

    So just play them now

    Not after the tournament

The team is getting stronger by the week. The phasing out of players has already begun e.g Callum Paterson, Leigh Griffiths, Liam Palmer. With the emergence of some really exciting young talent, I can see a few more bodies being added to the pile. Forrest and McGregor are prime candidates for the next cull.

At one point yesterday Patterson fed forrest who was on edge of box

He had to turn and shoot but played the ball backwards

Entire Scotland career one good game followed by five bad

I wasn’t that impressed with Patterson tonight to be honest. Got into some good positions but was pretty wasteful. Not that he did badly or anything but I’m not sure if he is a “must start” against the Czechs and to be honest I don’t think he will.

When odonnell was on he contributed zero

    Patterson was a constant threat

    He's a miles better footballer

I am going to be a bit controversial does mctominay need to start games for us.

I get he is important member of the squad as he covers a few positions , but he is not outstanding at anything and he is primarily a reactive midfielder and if we want to get away from the backs to the walls stuff, he does not need to start as he isn’t a creative midfielder

I always feel when he plays there is a harum-sacrum feel to this side, with some of those defensive performances he goes from excellent to awful and everything in between .

I did feel there was a calmness to the side the other day and I liked that , okay it was a friendly , but he is probably guaranteed start because of who he plays for, although he isn’t the only one that comes under that.

He is a midfielder and not a defender which explains above

Thankfully he will be playing midfield for us as he does for Manchester United

There is absolutely nothing to be gained by playing both T. and Rob. McTom and McG need some time but hope they get taken off early. Saw Wales panicking last night when Ampadu and Ramsey went down - you just can't take risks with your key men.

I'd be panicking too if ampadu was a key man

I hope he recovers okay but should not have been anywhere near the finals  squad

Couldn't help thinking during Dutch game that think was being played in gaulds home ground, would have been perfect opportunity for him

    But not to be

Whoever starts at RWB tomorrow will likely start against the Czech Republic so I have a feeling O’Donnell will start both games. I doubt Clarke will throw Patterson in at the deep end a week tomorrow.

He's undoubtedly a better footballer than odonnell

As gilmour is undoubtedly better than mcgregor

Sadly just too soon for them

“But, without him, the Scots simply wilted, our optimism faded and when Steve Nicol squandered our best chance, one of the other substitutes turned to me and said: “Geez, that was a lucky break’.

“I looked quizzically at him and he added: ‘Well, would it really be such a disaster if we don’t win this?’

“I could understand where he was coming from. In the cold light of day, we were never in with a shout of hoisting the World Cup and the winners of our tie with Uruguay were scheduled to meet [eventual winners] Argentina, Diego Maradona and the rest, in the next round.

“All we were doing was delaying the inevitable and that summed up what turned into a pretty lousy event for us. In fact, I’ve never fathomed why there was so little fuss from the supporters about 1986.”

    Unbelievable stuff, fucking losers.

A top class manager with a quality squad went out with a whimper and fuck all was said

    In that respect he's right

Sadly I think it's pretty much a stick on Gilmour won't start.

I can see McGinn dropping deeper rather than McGregor playing.

I hope we don't drop McGInn into CM. He is so much more effective and we look a far better team when McGinn plays CAM.

We won't score if we drop mcginn further back
