We need centre halves who are actually centre halves
We need Gilmour and two or three like him who actually pass and keep the ball
And we need a striker who can score goals
We're still miles away

Correct.
as much as it’s hard to accept that’s just as fact.
We qualified through the back door and it shows
We came behind russia, well behind
Yes we've improved since group but nowhere near enough

They were miles better than us in every department

The problem with his strategy for me is it relies on clean sheets and nicking one but our we always look likely to concede. The point vs Austria was robbery really and being shit against Israel for the 327th time in a row was soul destroying.
We conceded 5 goals in 2 games at home whilst in both games playing a back 5

On a player level we are very similar. They aren't some world beater.
They took their chances, we didn't.
The Czech Republic are in no way a good side, who are a level above us. Most of our players even play at a better level/teams than them.
They entirely had the ball
We didn't
The two teams were light years apart in terms of ability

Yeah against England we built in phases and protected the ball whilst stopping them dictate play - today we just stood and watched a technically superior team be technically superior despite being at home and them being low on confidence.
I think Clarke probably found the England game easier in a way setting up not to lose but the two games he's set up looking for a win we've been ruthlessly exposed.
There was no way our midfield three were going to beat them in a game of football and it shows in the possession stats which are a bit embarrassing really.
In the cold light of day
We've got humped 5-1 over two home games and played long ball in both

I'd be on board with it if we were good at it because it can be hugely effective but our strikers are often too isolated to knock it to runners from deep so just end up surrendering possession whilst we're out of shape.
The chasm between the front and back is our fundamental issue - Kante would be blowing out his arse playing for us.
We played football against England
But tonight we just went back to Czech game tactics
They had 70% possession
-
We are the only long ball team in the tournament
For a reason
We must stop playing this way

We’ve been well beaten by a better team.
With two of their goals coming from crosses

Love to see the home international championships being restored, on a every four year basis. The year before the World Cup would be good as we did well in 77, 81 and 85.
Would be happy to just se us play England in an end of season friendly
Every other year, non tournament years

Turnbull for me

The Denmark game is just as important, and is a decent game in front of a great crowd 👍🏼
We could have done with a full crowd tomorrow

Is this why they had the teams base in England, I've heard if it was in Scotland the whole squad would have to isolate.

I believe they are testing every player every day. Over the space of two weeks that's about 9000 tests. Then we should add in all the staff associated with each team who will also be getting tested. I'm surprised there haven't been more false positives. Hopefully it is a false positive. He still won't be able to play but at least he also can't pass it on to anyone else.
Gonnae no test any of our players tomorrow

I doubt Clarke will have a “fuck it” attitude to this game.
He maybe should
The no fear youngster might work

It won't happen but I do think we need to leave McTominay in defence. I am beginning to think he isn't as good a midfielder as some think especially with out Fred beside him.
Clarke will probably start the same 11 as the first game with McGregor in for Armstrong.
He is a good midfielder but it would be all on Tierney to bring us up the park
If we revert to long ball it's over

Honestly don't think we have any out and out midfield cover for Gilmour. We have decent midfield players but the thing about Gilmour was that he was always available, always demanding the ball, and rarely misplacing a pass none of the others do that. Those three points also apply to Robertson, that is what he does.
Anyway it won't happen but I can think of worse formations.
Stick turnbull in
Fuck it, just do it

I might be missing something but I don’t see how practically the whole team and management team wouldn’t be close contacts?!
like the whole Spain squad had to isolate just before the Euros
of course I hope I’m wrong
Someone fudging the system by making up he went straight to bed after the England game
-
Half the team will be close contacts
We're fucked

McGinn’s booking was a bit of a joke. Unless I missed something, it seemed he got a yellow for asking for a foul when Mings stopped Dykes from running in on goall by tackling his face.
He was losing his shit early with the ref about almost every decision
He needs to calm down with that

Ah yes, fair.
This team has the potential to be better than the 90s team. Maybe even our best team of all time?
Here’s hoping we sneak a 1-0 Tuesday & England hump Czech 3-0 And we can look forward to Sweden in the last 16!
We need goals
Performance brilliant, all the plaudits great
But we need goals
