have them both down the left and an actual right back a right back. tierney must hate being played there, he doesn't offer anything and must cringe at the thought of scouts seeing him play there.

they're both attack minded, and I could imagine they'd get in each other's road. But there's an ideal opportunity to try it out in a couple of weeks vs Netherlands

If Robertson can't get into this Liverpool defence, he should chuck it.

The way Tierney played last night, Robertson not figuring at Liverpool isn't an issue. Tierney outstanding at LB and should be playing in that position for us. Not sure what to do with Robertson though....

You seem to be under the assumption that the SFA can just appoint who they like as manager.

The person would need to want the job.

Sure, the SFA can make approaches to the current employers of managers in work or to out of work managers directly. Doesn’t mean they’d be interested though.

I would hope (!!!) that the Scotland gig is more appealing that the Faroes.

  4. Lars Olsen - Faroes manager. Their improvement under him is huge. (They very nearly went above us in the rankings not so long ago). Knows the international game etc. Sure we could offer him more money than he's on just now without breaking our own budget.

Would be a brave choice, and in all honesty, not one I'd expect them to make, but would be my choice anyway

I think by virtue of our ranking we would have to be very unlucky not to make a playoff. Especially when you consider that the vast majority of the teams above us will make up the 20 automatic spots.

Don't worry about it - you can be sure we'll find a way of not qualifying

Lewis Morgan at St. Mirren would do a far better job that this joker. Phillips is an absolute waste of space - but hey! at least he's tall!

Now I think about - Johnny Russell as well. (strange how he's so far out the picture, especially given he plays in Strachan's favourite division)

Sorry, I misread your comment. I thought you meant if we drew with Slovenia.

If we lose on Sunday we could still theoretically finish above Slovakia but Slovenia would finish above us on goal difference as we are both on +5 at the moment.

    Yeah that's right.

    I've revised my scenario -

In the, admittedly unlikely, scenario of Slovakia failing to beat Malta (that's the unlikely bit) and us drawing in Slovenia, we'd still finish second if my maths is correct. Would we, in that case, be looking at being the 9th placed team?

Aye they would, you're right (maths was never a strong point!)

It was always a case of needing to win four out of our last four (three quarters of the way now!)

I live abroad and have not been to a home game since Belgium 2013.

I missed most of the first half as I was in the queue to collect my ticket. I really enjoyed that experience. Well worth the money.

Easy for you to say. Travelling from down south or abroad takes up holiday time and costs extra money, neither of which is a problem for you given you live within driving distance from Hampden.

I think you're missing the point. The point is that there is Scotland based fans, flying away from Scotland and thus missing the football tomorrow, yet bizarrely will be in attendance on Sunday. If you're outwith Scotland that's a different set of circumstances isn't it.

To emphasise my previous post, seems bonkers logic to me, but each to their own though.

One of the few bonuses of this board closing will be no longer listening to pish from keyboard warriors slagging off fans for circumstances they know nothing about

The circumstances are that Scotland are playing at home on Thursday and in Slovenia on Sunday. To miss the home game, to me, seems like bonkers logic.

    However, each to their own.....

  12. Coverage of the women's pole vault is hilarious - it's been nigh on  wall to wall coverage for the last hour focusing primarily on the Brit. Now that she's out, and without even a medal at that, pole vault competition is basically sacked by BBC!

Surely this kind of thing happens more than you think. Are other parents more accepting of the reality?

Im not making a judgement on them personally, can't imagine how they feel. Connie Yates in particular looks horrendous compared with 12 months ago. Easily lost 1-2stone and aged quite noticably.

    So sad.

Presumably, yes - infants dieing isn't uncommon. What is different here is that there was an avenue of hope which the parents wanted to use. But, as we all know, they were denied and now the little boy has passed away.
