  1. Captainwull.. Your bit you mention re the borders between holland germany and belgium..

Was speaking to a lad in the boozer last week he said he went from amsterdam to germany before via road and rail and he said near the borders in small towns that there was police stopping trains and cars/busses etc and checking them all for drink/drug/immigrants

dont know how true it is like?

Bullshit, unless it was about 20 or so years ago.

  2. Free travel only for regional trains such as RE, RB, S Bahn.

    Not for ICE, IC, etc.

If you board train at CGN you need a ticket to Langenfeld only as VRR area starts there.

Realise what trains are OK and NOK, appreciate it wasn't communicated very well (had done so on numerous other threads before the board was wiped).

The Cologne reference was meant as regards there are no barriers etc. at those main stations.

  3. Alright guys, correct me if i'm wrong but as i understand if you're travelling from dortmund airport to dusseldorf city centre then the route is:

Shuttle Bus from airport to Holzwickede Station (a small town outside Dortmund) then get the train from there. There is also a possibility of having to change train somewhere in the journey but i'm not too sure. Got this info from trip advisor in 2009 so could be out-dated.

From Holzwickede the ERB trains to Venlo go to Düsseldorf, without having to change, takes about 1 hour (9 stops).

Download either the Bahn Navigator app or the VRR app. (Both in English).

  4. Still unclear. Do you take your match ticket to a train ticket office or just walk straight on the train?

Just board the train. There are no barriers at any of the stations, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund. If a ticket inspector asks, showing your game ticket suffices.

  5. Will be in Munich on the weekend of 28th Feb and looking to get to the Bayern vs Koln game but anywhere ive looked for tickets its far too expensive. If anyone can help with how to get normal priced tickets that would be great. Cheers

Unless you know an 1FC Köln season ticket holder who can get you a ticket in the away end, then paying the prices on viagogo et al is about the only way to get Bayern tickets.
