  1. He got sent off in the last 5 minutes and crossed himself as he left the pitch. He refused to shake hands with Cooper afterwards (but later apologised).

McGrain gave him stick in his book cos the game took place on a Sunday and all the Catholic Celtic players had gone to mass in the morning. Except one...

Hope this post doesn't stir up any nonsense, not the intention at all.

  2. I'm intrigued by the mo Johnstone signing comment a few posts up, anyone willing to dip their toes on that one?

I reckon it's nonsense. I remember seeing the 2 of them on the same fitba programme one time as pundits and either they were a couple of guys who enjoyed each other's company or they were potential Oscar winners. Folk have mentioned the Spain game. One of the first players over to Mo Johnston after the first goal? None other than Davie Cooper.

As for that League Cup final, Danny McGrain probably gave Johnston a bigger trashing in his book than anything that supposedly came from Cooper.

Going back to the thread topic, DC was a phenomenal talent but probably suffered from a lack of ambition. A player like him in the modern era would walk into any top side in Europe. One of the best stories I heard about him was when he was a sub and warming up at half-time taking pot shots at goal. He managed to hit the bar instead of sticking the ball into the empty net and got some stick from the punters behind the goal. His response was to play the ball repeatedly back off the bar to himself. Up there with Eddie Gray IMO.

  3. We'd have got more mobility if we'd selected Brother Walfrid's statue up front. Sorry, but this guy is utter p*sh. Borderline worst I've seen in a Scotland shirt - one touch on his chest and then picks himself up after falling flat on his pus. Surely GS can see that there's no point persisting with this fkin haddie. May and Russell showed far more in the short time they were allowed.

I know Martin has scored more goals than them both. Fck knows how though.

  4. My old dug (she died in 1994) keeps 'visiting' me in my dreams - that's the only recurring one I have.

I'm often visited by the best dug I ever had the privilege of knowing. Always so vivid as well. Feel like crap when I wake up and realise he won't be there. :(

Not really recurring but my missus often has weird dreams. Sometimes I get woken up by her arranging work meetings in her sleep. I often take the p*ss out of her at the time asking all sorts of questions that she happily responds to and remembers nothing about in the morning. Mind you one night she started "fighting" some other woman. Nearly sh@t masel when I got suddenly put in a headlock!

  5. It looks ok but is a wee bit crowded. I don't know why they couldn't just take their best stuff and team up with the likes of Newsnet.

I keep hearing about various things starting up with plans for both print and online versions which is far too much going on IMO. One or two good comprehensive resources would be ideal. Even on Facebook every single day there are numerous new pages wanting to be liked. Totally scattergun.

  6. I use both cloudnext.co.uk and hostgator.com for various sites. Setting up Wordpress on each is really simple and I've never had a problem with downtime.

I wouldn't bother with a graphics company though. The main thing to use to give your site a professional look is the theme. These guys will provide as many themes and plugins as you'll ever need for under $40 - https://premium.wpmudev.org/. There are plenty of free ones as well of course.

If you need graphics you can get them cheap here - www.fotolia.com.

  7. Say what you like about RBS in many respects, but lets not forget they moved very quickly indeed to deny the bullshit being spouted by Westminster and the papers. It's not their fault it was completely misreported.

    Give them that at least.

It's worth finding out what all these companies actually said before starting/calling for any boycotts. In the case of RBS the BBC website headline was "RBS to move to London after a Yes". Complete and utter horse manure but the headline is where most folk get their info before quickly moving on.

By all means unleash hellfire and brimstone if they were indeed prepared to fck us over. FFS I haven't bought a bag of Golden Wonder crisps since they shut down a profit-making factory up here in the 80's. But best get the facts first.

Here's a response I got from the Clydesdale pre-referendum after asking if what was reported about them in the media was accurate:

    Dear

    Thank you for your message.

Any changes in the Company's legal structure would have no impact on the vast majority of the Bank's staff. Clydesdale Bank would continue to serve its customers just as it has since 1838 and Glasgow will continue to be the Bank's key operational centre.

    Yours sincerely,

    Clydesdale Bank WebCare Team

That doesn't sound to me like a plan to move everything south.

  8. Until today, I had never been an actual member of any political affiliation or organisation. However, the last 48 hours has awakened something in me. Like so many, I've never known hurt, anger and frustration like it. Particularly when I saw the opportunity for my wee boy's generation being completely squandered, and the sight of the utter turncoats that are the Labour Party dancing arm in arm with Tories. A sight that would have Maxton, Keir Hardie, Dewar and John Smith turning in their graves.

So I joined the SNP this morning. I owe it myself, my family, my wee boy and the rest of the 45 to try and do something and keep fighting. This dream will never die. This is not over by a long shot and Labour will pay a very heavy price next year in Scotland for their treachery. The people need to change their mindset of voting Labour to keep the Tories out. We need a new way of thinking.

Dewar and John Smith? Seriously??? These 2 bstrds would've been right at the front of the fkin conga.

  9. Prediction: North Britain will return 50 Labour MP's in 2015. The Tories will get in thanks to English votes and the whole fkin depressing, monotonous cycle will begin again.

This was our chance and we didn't have the guts. Fkin laughing stock of the world and we deserve to be. Never felt ashamed to be Scottish before but I am now. This "country" is finished.

  10. Experienced campaigners might be able to see some correlation between window posters and likely vote. e.g. I don't recall seeing too many SNP posters back in 2011 but we all know what happened. Maybe there's some kind of rule of thumb formula? Certainly in my block of 7 houses there are 4 definite Yes houses (the other 3 I don't know about, the folk keep to themselves) but ours is the only one with posters up or a sticker on the car.

I spoke to another neighbour the other day, a guy in his early 80's and a more rabid Tory you'd be hard pressed to find. We usually only talk fitba and gardening but this time he brought up the referendum and started going on about Salmond and the oil and how it won't last forever. I started on about how there were new fields opening all the time and we hadn't even started off the west coast yet and how his grandson (18 yo) wouldn't have to worry about oil running out. His response floored me:

"Aye he's 18 and voting Yes. And so am I - we've got to go for it!"

Now this is a guy who gets all his news from the BBC and either the Express or the Mail. He wouldn't know what the Internet was if it bit him but he went on to slag off the relentless bias we're having to deal with via the papers and the TV.

So on Thursday he'll be my first volunteer driver "fare" of the day. Oh, and he's not got a poster in his window either but when the last person you ever expected turns to a Yes it's got to give you confidence.
