On the back of all the Right Back conversation if Hickey and Paterson both out for me would be Ross McCorrie lot of U21 international experience, did well at Aberdeen starting to play first team football in the Championship which is a good level - great age and height

For me would have him over Ralston who hasnt played much and would have the same lack of game time issues as Paterson had last 2 games and Max Johnson from what i read hasn't played as much

Also really frustrating that Calvin Ramseys season long loan at Preston was a disaster as if he had had a great season could have been first choice right back for us this summer but sadly went really badly for whatever reason

Ross McRorie sounds a good shout.  Desperate times on that side of the park by the looks of it though.  Folk calling for Fraser there.  How will he defend?  And we'll be defending a hell of a lot.

  2. Finally caught up with the last season of Fear The Walking Dead when it became free on Prime.  What a load of complete and utter sh*te.  A time jump of 7 years from the previous season yet all the characters look exactly the same and run into each other through amazing coincidences not to mention all looking like they get at least 3 square meals a day with full access to toothpaste, makeup and washing facilities.  FFS even Daniel's cat reappeared and recognised him instantly!

Fell into the "so bad it's good" category.  I think my favourite bit was, even all these years into the apocalypse, oxygen cylinders being readily available to Madison who was struggling with breathing issues, even if they didn't stop her banjoing various zombies with this muckle big sledgehammer.  Maybe I overthink things.

Glad that's over.  No idea what channels the various spin-offs will be on, but if they're anything like this garbage or The World Beyond then they won't be worth watching.

Or, Jim Baxter was a winger.

'kin hell that's mental.  Never heard that one.  He must've been keeping bonny78 and the Ramy loonie company in my Ignore bin when he came out with that.

Lol fair enough I had it on my head that they were for some reason.

Me too until the recent AFCON when a commentator said they hadn't won it since 1976 or something.  Real shock as they were a cracking side in '98.

If it is then he has totally changed his style. Not impossible, I suppose.

The clincher will be if he says "5-3-2" or "Kimmich plays there for Germany".  Jury's out until then.

That's because alot of Scotland fans get carried away and become delusional like you are doing right now. Most of the experienced Scotland fans who had followed Scotland for years knew that we were not remotely guaranteed to get out of the groups. They had seen Scotland fail at major tournaments with much better squads and it was always a case of if trying to get a results against Morocco and norway. We arrogantly thought it was a poor group but Morocco were African champions and Norway were a decent side. The hope was a win and draw coupled with a bit of good luck would see us through.

    No they weren't.

Just read that Roberson's injury isn't as bad as first feared 👍

Just read that they're "hopeful" it isn't that bad and that they're waiting for full info from the scan.  From the BBC Gossip section.  Hopefully you've read something more up-to-date than me cos it'd be calamitous to lose him.,

Patterson utterly shot of form and confidence. Ralston couldn’t do any worse. But in the absence of Hickey, I’d be tempted to try Max Johnston. Youngster playing regularly at a club in a title race (ok not in a standout league, but no worse than the Scottish Premiership). Looked good for the under 21s. Patterson a couple of years ago looked great. But right now he is abysmal and a weak link. Maybe he’ll turn it round. Maybe not. Worth giving a shot to another youngster on an upward curve in their career and presumably brimming with confidence.

Patterson needs a session with a sports psychologist to get his head back in the game. If he's performing like that in training at his club then it's no wonder he's not in the team. Where did the brash, confident player that's in there go? He looked great when he first broke into the team.

Funny how quickly things change.  Not that long ago we were wondering how we could fit any combo of Hickey, Patterson and Ramsay into the team as they'd all be too good to leave out.

that game hurt. Well done first off to the N Ireland players , they certainly raised their game.
not sure what hurt most . The commentary, the performance mostly but also felt sorry for the home crowd enduring the vocal visitors.
what a song list they had .. God Save the Queen (camilla?) / King. Rule Britannia ( whatever that has to do with micks ) and the favourite Unionist greeting of Scotland get batteries every where they go
    such a charm school.

i can’t be the only one, though some will be proud, to be sad that a fair number didn’t need the ferry home after expressing their hate for Scotland and the Scottish.
they can stick their fukin hating up their arses. You know they’ll enjoy it likely.

Might've helped if they'd got them recharged at half-time.

We got a goal chalked off for fuck all in Spain. That goal goes in, we win the group.

Luck hasn't always gone our way,

With a MAJOR incentive , i.e. qualifying with 8 wins out of 8 which I believe we would've done.

  11. Last night we were crying out for someone to unlock their packed defence and on comes Kenny McLean.  I like McLean for shoring things up when it's going well but FFS, not when you're desperately trying to avoid a humiliating defeat to a team of youngsters.  Could Ryan Gauld have done this?  We'll never know.  Those players last night plus McGregor and Hickey - that's yer squad with a wee bit of whittling down.  And we'd better all pray that Hickey's back cos the thought of lining up to face Germany with NI's best player at RWB fills me with dread.

Too many of them playing like their places were guaranteed.  Would've loved to have seen some bone crunchers put in along with the "in yer face" attitude like that shown by NI last night.  There was a time a few of them would've gone 6 feet in the air for daring to do that at Hampden.

On another note... genuine question - did Dykes even touch the ball last night?  I know he had eff all service but I can't remember him being involved at all apart from the stretch to try and get to a pass cleared by the goalie.

  12. There's not one single positive to take from that load of utter honking SH*TE.  Not one.

Clearly we can't break down teams that are set up to play us on the counter and when we set up like that, e.g. Friday night, we're prone to getting fkin murdered.  I can usually find something to be optimistic about, but not after watching that complete and utter total p*sh.

When fit midfield is McGregor, Mcginn, McTominay - Gilmour just behind them but was MOM Friday, Ferguson seems to be doing well in Italy but he is nowhere near the aforementioned….just leaving for Glasgow now so hoping whatever team we put out we get the win we so badly need

I like McGregor, but if it's a straight choice between him and Billy Gilmour then Gilmour wins every single time.

Reading the vast majority of the comments on here and I feel like I watched a different game from most tonight.

Yes we got beat 4 nil however we dominated the 1st half and more than held our own until they scored the 2nd and subs came on.

Shankland played decent against a really good defence. He linked play well, should have scored the 1 on 1 but hit the ball so hardly totally fluffed his lines.

Tierney is key to how we play. We limited the Netherlands to attempt at goal in the 1st half on their turf. All whilst creating several chances ourselves. Some of our passing play was top quality.

We were off it in the final 3rd tonight, not clinical enough but id hope that will be different come the euros.

Patterson looked like a player devoid of confidence. Not once did he look to take it past the full back, even with loads of space to run at them. Worryingly that is likely to have been coached out of him at Everton. He could do with a move to somewhere like Germany. Needs to get back to Alan Hutton type attacking.

Gilmour was superb. Strange that McTom was playing deeper with Christie further forward when logic would suggest them switching however Clarke did say he was going to try some things.

None of the subs did well.

That's a pretty fair assessment.  In the cold light of day we were out-Dutching the Dutch in their own stadium and should've been ahead and then it all went to rat crap when he brought the subs on.

If Tierney isn't in that back 3 and/or Gilmour isn't in front of them then SC better find a way of ensuring that the opposition don't go through us like a dose of salts.  The really annoying thing for me is the way we'd been playing some of the best fitba I've ever seen from a Scotland side - composed possession with a purpose - only for the replacements to come on and start running round like heidless chickens.

AND... all that great stuff got played with Patterson having a bit of a nightmare and McGinn having one of his worst performances.  Hickey in on the right and McGinn getting over his off-night and I'd be happy with that starting 11 in June.  From what I saw last night though they'd all need to stay on for the 90 minutes!  No more taking off the sublime talent of Gilmour with still 20 minutes on the clock cos that's just sheer madness.

  15. I think tonight showed we don't have strength in depth coming off the bench.  Probably right to take KT off as we need to wrap that guy in cotton wool.  Surprised to see Gilmour go though as the gaps then started appearing in the middle of the park.  We don't have anybody else remotely like him.

Until these substitutions we'd been brilliant - away from home against a top side and knocking the ball about like that and creating chances? We played some great stuff. Pity Gunn decided to play that fkin ridiculous pass out to Patterson which led to the 2nd and then everything fell apart.

I think we all know that we are second choice to guys like Adams, cooper, Barnes etc. that's obvious or it should be. It's all about wether the player improves our squad and shows good commitment to turning up and trying their best.

Fair enough to Gordon, he's made it clear that he wants to play for England and doesn't really want to compromise on that. Saying that if he wasn't getting picked by England and wanted to use us as a back up option then personally I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Regardless of what Gordon says in that interview if he wasn't getting picked by England by the age of 26 and it wasnt looking likely he ever would then theres a good chance he would be considering us as an option.

I think the whole concept of international fitba is a wee bit lost on you. The only way someone like that should be near a Scotland jersey is when Ryan Porteous boots him 6 feet in the air in the Euro 2024 final.

I'd have thought it was penalty against us as it was a foul. I'm genuinely baffled by this as I can't see how anyone can see it as anything other than a foul.  I'll be the first to hold my hands up when I think we've got away with one but this isn't one of those instances, not even close.  For the record, I think the second yellow was probably a bit on the harsh side (although I think as Ed says, if the boy hadn't just been warned by the ref for his conduct it may not have happened) but the red was also nailed on.  A few people seem to think that because he didn't make full contact it's not a red but that doesn't stop it being reckless and dangerous.

You must look like Zorba the Greek every time your team plays!

Ramsay isn't even starting in league 1 with Bolton currently, he really needs a run of games to build confidence.

Hindsight's a wonderful thing, but he would've been better staying at Aberdeen for another couple of years.  Hope he doesn't just disappear into the lower leagues.

  19. Who was the young guy with the wacky name that went from Aberdeen to Ibrox? Haven't seen him appear in any of the lower age squads.  (I'd obviously recognise the name if I saw it!)  He was meant to be a superstar in the making.

Heard the other day as well that Liverpool are supposed to be in for Frimpong.  Not sure where that'd leave Calvin Ramsay considering there's a N Irish guy the same age already getting first team games there at right-back.

Exactly my thought. His best days with Scotland were with the inclusion of players like Souness and Strachan who were on a similar wavelength to him.

Still outstanding before that though IMO.

His best days were when he became the target man and had the likes of Johnston, Nicholas and McAvennie playing off him rather than him playing off Jordan.  That and Jock Stein running out of patience with him at the 82 WC.  He showed flashes of brilliance up to that point, but after it he moved up several levels and became the player in dark blue we all knew he could be.

Souness and Strachan weren't an upgrade on what we had available in the mid-70's IMO.

From an independence point of view, I think the best we can hope for is a hung parliament with the SNPs 30ish seats being enough to cause some chaos at Westminster. All of our media is telling us that Labour will win a landslide, but I'm not so sure. They will win the election ( unless a major war saves the Tories), but even to get a majority, they need one of the biggest swings ever in UK elections. For me, the fact that we are almost talking as though this has already happened indicates two things.

Aye, the "good wee parliamentarians" will be just great at doing that.  Might even do a walkout only to go back in again later when they realise filet mignon is on the restaurant menu that night.
