Never had an issue at RP even with crowds of 10,000+.

I was just translating the general point that the other poster was making - about sales taking place middle of a Saturday isn’t ideal.

Good to hear that RP has a better phone signal that St.Mirren Park. 😬

Huh?  It's this weekend for 11-12 points.

That’s what he means.  People busy on a weekend, whether it be playing, coaching or supporting their clubs sides.

I’ll be at Rugby Park on Sat at that time and there’s often no 4g/5g bandwidth at grounds due to the amount of folk.

I thought Lyndon should’ve started against Cyprus and England. After his performances in the previous round of games, scoring against Norway and assisting McGregor’s opener against Georgia, I thought he deserved to be in the starting 11.

Was saying this the other day when chatting in the pub. Adams definitely had more quality but doesn’t seem to be working well in the Scotland side.

For me, Dykes should be starting ahead of him.

I think I've figured it out. We can get through with two bonus point wins v tonga and Romania but bonus points are an absolute must

If we neat Ireland we go level on points with them and therefore knock them out as we beat them in head to head.

But we’d need to deny them a losing BP.

Still, not as bad as I thought it was straight after the game.  I thought we were basically out already.

  5. Just looked at the table and I’m confused now.  I’m sure I’m missing something.

Ireland on 14 points with only Scotland left to play.

You’d expect/hope Scotland to get bonus point wins v Tonga and Romania, taking us to 10 points?

Then if we beat Ireland we potentially go level on 14, or with BP win could go to 15?

  6. Scotland denied a stonewaller pentalty - asbolutely incredible it wasn’t given.

Then England go up the park and score a goal that looks marginally offside.

No VAR. The English commentary team barely bat an eyelid.

  7. I tried to load the French ticket site just for a nosy and it said that it’s blocked due to my location. 🤔

Tickets for other matches are loading fine.

Are they trying to block sales to Scotland/UK?

Believe tickets are priced about 70 euros, expensive harvest 🚜

Not much in the grand scheme of things if you’re going to be spending a decent wad of cash in Germany next year.

Certainly cheaper than trying to source euros tickets on a resale market.

  9. Anyone know if they’re planning to do ‘Follow my team’ type tickets for the sales ballot in October?

Website seems a bit sparse on detail. Wasn’t sure if they would only let you apply for random games in certain cities without actually knowing who would be playing - or will it have the option to apply for tickets for a selected country?

Is there any fucking team in history that has a bigger hex on it than the New York Jets ?

What happened last night could have easily been predicted and the bookies would not have given you great odds on it happening either

I’ve never much paid attention to American football but it certainly seems to be getting more and more exposure.

I remember looking at a website that gave you some tips on choosing a team based on your answers to certain questions. 😂 Never quite managed to decide yet though.

Defo fancy going to a game sometime though. Went to a baseball match in NY last month and it was great. The yanks certainly know how to do the matchday experience thing. 🍺

For me its the supporters who need to make that change in their mindset. Wake up and realise they are seen in a bad light by those with sense. Are they really comfortable with that? I wouldn't be.

Unfortunate they are completely incapable of this. It’s not changing any time soon.

Partly due to the fact that their cultural identity of pro-British, hating Ireland/catholics/fenians is so ingrained that they simply don’t recognise how ridiculous they are. There’s a complete lack of self-awareness or self-honesty.

I notice that the recent line that many of them are spouting is that they don’t dislike the Scotland national team, but it’s the Tartan Army that they can’t stand. It’s just bullshit. They hate the Tartan Army AND the national team. They simply think their position is more credible to say that they hate the Tartan Army for reasons X, Y and Z,  rather than being led down the path of reality that the identity developed around their club team has seen them abandon their Scottish identity, embrace pro-Britain and indeed pro-England sentiment to thumb their nose to their countrymen who they see as the opposition. They’re unable to confront the fact that they are simply raging bigots and construct an alternate reality and justification to convince themselves otherwise.

  12. Good wins for Britain in Manchester to see them through to the Davis Cup finals in Malaga in November.

I was questioning whether Murray should have been playing in the lead up to the tournament given he’s needing to protect his body. Part of that is my bias in not loving the idea of the Brit-fest of the Davis Cup - but Murray seems to enjoy it and if it keeps him engaged and enjoying his tennis then fair play. I think he only played one game in the end anyway.

  13. Ticket scanners take far too long to reset to allow the next person through.

Probably partly due to the turnstyle itself being very old/clunky and not easily pushed through.

They tickets should also be sorted so that they are issued in Google / Apple wallet so it is a pre-set screen size that doesn’t require manual manipulation.

All these factors slow down entry. At least the security staff seemed to be communicating at the gate to try and make the ticket scanning go better.

And the next game with them is 8 years from the previous away meeting, the exact same as the gap between the last 2 away encounters! Wtf? We're boned!

Perhaps it's just me with the psychological issues 🤔

I seem to have blocked out the other defeat in Georgia. I was there in 2007 so that was scarring enough. I always thought we’d beat them the next time around with a last min free kick. Have we played them a couple of times since ‘07, or am I thinking of a completely different game?

  16. Doak is incredibly raw. As you would expect for a 17 yr old kid.

If he gets picked at this stage, it will be more for his development, rather than him being ready to contribute.

I don’t think there’s any rush. Give the boy a chance to learn the game at Liverpool and see how he progresses.

People are mentioning the away games were 0 points are needed, Do we get an email saying this?

Iv'e only ever seen ones with double figure points required.

For our younger readers, I mentioned pre planning, my 25 year old son and his mates have booked refundable hostels just about everywere in Germany. Even if you don't get tickets you should go just incase, as my mate said to me in 98 "it might be the last one we get to that we are young enough to enjoy"

Might actually do that for the final, think my back could handle it for a night or two.

I think you’re missing the fact that there’s a full sales schedule.

For example, the statement might be that you need 18 tickets to guarantee a ticket in the first sales phase, but it then cascades down a point at a time into other sales windows - all subject to demand obviously.

For a friendly like Austria, you might have needed say 16 points to be guaranteed a ticket, but demand was so little that it cascaded down to being available to 0 points. You’re not going to get notifications from the SSC other than them outlaying the full sales schedule at the beginning. That tells you everything you need to know.

I'm not sure what you mean by that bit? Every home game is a zero point game and as soon as you go to one you won't be on zero points any more.

And if he means away games, there’s a timed schedule published for purchasing tickets by points level, prior to the sales and window commencing.

The onus is then on the individual to check/buy, albeit the SFA do tend to communicate on social media or email to confirm when/if tickets have sold out.

Threads like this are to be expected - you can't fault folk who either won't be eligible for tickets, or are worried they might not get them, wishing there was an approach that gives them a better chance of a brief for a major tournament. I imagine a lot of us who will get tickets for the group stage games would be of a similar mindset if we were in the same boat.

For what it's worth, I'll be on 20+ points by the end of the year, having spent a load of time, effort & money over the last 20 years following Scotland home & away. In terms of the last 10 home/away games, that includes zero point games that anyone could have got a ticket for like the meaningless friendly in Austria, as well as going to the likes of Moldova with no official away ticket & therefore no points. I've done all that understanding how the loyalty points system works, and I'll be at all three group stage games in Germany (should we qualify) as a result - and rightfully so.

The only real important point in this discussion is this - the SSC system is set in stone, it's fair, and it won't be changed for the Euros. If you want to be annoyed at something that might hinder your ability to get a ticket, be annoyed at the relatively small number of tickets they give to the qualified teams for each game, not the system that dispenses those tickets in a fair manner.

    This is a great post.

I missed out on tickets for Euro2020 after going for 15+ years, but fell away from games at the wrong time. Can’t argue that I should’ve got tickets ahead of anyone else that had the points at the time.

    Couple of things to note:

    - Everyone can apply for the ballot. If you don’t have enough points and whatever complaints you have about the points system, there is an equitable route through the ballot.

    - Ticket resale / agencies.  There’s always the option to pay through the nose.  I had to do that for Wembley, but weighing things up - it will probably be much less expense than what the guys above you on the points ladder have spent on trips.
